THE RAILWAY MAN Coming To DVD & Blu-Ray August 12; Stars Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman

Anchor Bay Entertainment is bringing THE RAILWAY MAN to DVD and BLU-RAY™ on August 12, with the early digital download window beginning this Friday, August 1.

Academy Award Winners Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman star in the remarkable autobiography of Eric Lomax (Colin Firth), a British Army officer who is captured by the Japanese during WWII and sent to a POW camp, where he is tormented and forced to work on the Thai-Burma Railway.

Decades later, still suffering the trauma of his wartime experiences, Lomax and his wife Patti (Nicole Kidman) discover that the Japanese interpreter responsible for much of his treatment is still alive and set out to confront him, in this powerful and inspiring tale of heroism, humanity and the redeeming power of love.

Head down to Schlafly Bottleworks in Maplewood Thursday July 31st where A HARD DAY’S NIGHT screens at at 7pm.

A HARD DAY’S NIGHT was the Beatles’ first, and best, feature film of their career. Unlike the confused and confusing HELP! or the simplistic and message-oriented YELLOW SUBMARINE – in which the Beatles only appeared briefly — this film has sharp editing, good supporting characterization, and the good sense not to rely too much on the Beatles themselves for more than some good quips and great music.

Richard Lester’s compelling and innovative cinematography and editing underscores the fact that these four young Liverpool lads are going to change the world, well before they actually had begun to do so. Rather than making a throwaway flick for the fans, Lester crafted a minor masterpiece for rock and roll movies that has never been equaled or even attempted. The Beatles exploit their public persona to the max here — loverboy Paul, sardonic John, quiet and naive George, and cuddly Ringo. Wilfrid Brambell steals the show to the extent possible as Paul’s grandfather, “a real mixer” as Paul says, who seems to delight in starting fights and causing trouble.

Next Thursday, July 31^st, lucky St. Louisans will get the chance to take in A HARD DAY’S NIGHT when it plays at Schlafly Bottlework’s big screen.

A Film Series is presenting the Rockumentary film series – A HARD DAY’S NIGHT will be part of it next Thursday, July 31st at Schlafly Bottleworks in Maplewood (7260 Southwest Avenue, Maplewood, Missouri 63143). The movie begins at 7pm.

Doors open at 6:30. Come on in for dinner and a movie.

B&B Theatres Opening 12-screen Movie Theatre at Wentzville Bluffs in Wentzville, MO.

Wentzville, Missouri calls itself the ‘Crossroads of the Nation’ because it sits smack-dab in the middle of the U.S. of A! And what better place to open a state-of-the-art megaplex!

B&B Theatres is pleased to announce that they have entered into an agreement with Capital Constructor’s Development to build a new 12-screen theatre in Wentzville, MO, in the Wentzville Bluffs Development. Bob Bagby, President of B&B Theatres said: “We are excited to be working with Capital Constructor’s Development. The state of the art theatre will be a great addition to this premier retail development. We still have details to work out, but we hope to open the new theatre in the spring of 2015.”

The movie theatre itself will be State-of-the-Art. Not only will all auditoriums have stadium seating with comfortable leather-style seats, but each will feature Christie® digital projection and select auditoriums will have the newest 3D XBRITE® High Frame Rate® and REAL-D™ technology. All auditoriums will

feature B&B’s latest design, with Dolby 7.1 digital surround sound as well as wall-to-wall curved screens. These features will give the customer a completely immersive movie-going experience. The concession stand will feature fresh popcorn, nachos, hot dogs, cotton candy, self-serve candy, and a wide variety of self-serve drink options.We’re not sure if they’re selling beer yet, but check back for updates.

SINISTER 2 Haunting Its Way Into Theaters On August 21, 2015.

It was announced today that Focus Features will release Blumhouse and eOne’s SINISTER 2, the sequel to the micro-budget horror-hit, wide on August 21, 2015.

Ciaran Foy will direct the sequel which Scott Derrickson, the director of the first SINISTER, is writing with C. Robert Cargill.

Derrickson and Cargill also wrote the original film. SINISTER took in $18.2 million on opening weekend in October 2012, with an eventual gross of $48 million – all on a $3 million budget.

eOne is financing the film which Jason Blum is producing via his Blumhouse Productions banner along with Derrickson. Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Charles Layton, and eOne’s Xavier Marchand and Patrice Theroux are executive producing.

Roger Donaldson’s THE NOVEMBER MAN Trailer Arrives – Stars Pierce Brosnan

Relativity Studios has just released the new trailer for the upcoming movie, THE NOVEMBER MAN. The new espionage thriller stars Pierce Brosnan, Luke Bracey and Olga Kurylenko and is directed by Roger Donaldson.

Code named ‘The November Man’; Peter Devereaux (Pierce Brosnan) is an extremely dangerous and highly trained ex-CIA agent, who is lured out of quiet retirement on a very personal mission. He must protect valuable witness, Alice Fournier, (Olga Kurylenko) who could expose the truth behind a decades old conspiracy. He soon discovers this assignment makes him a target of his former friend and CIA protégé David Mason (Luke Bracey). With growing suspicions of a mole in the agency, there is no one Devereaux can trust, no rules and no holds barred.

With a screenplay by Michael Finch & Karl Gajdusek based on Bill Granger’s novel “There are No Spies” from the bestselling November Man book series, THE NOVEMBER MAN is the ultimate cat and mouse game set in the world of international espionage. Open Road Films has released the first trailer and poster for their upcoming thriller, NIGHTCRAWLER, starring Jake Gyllenhaal.

NIGHTCRAWLER is a pulse-pounding thriller set in the nocturnal underbelly of contemporary Los Angeles.

Jake Gyllenhaal stars as Lou Bloom, a driven young man desperate for work who discovers the high-speed world of L.A. crime journalism. Finding a group of freelance camera crews who film crashes, fires, murder and other mayhem, Lou muscles into the cut-throat, dangerous realm of nightcrawling — where each police siren wail equals a possible windfall and victims are converted into dollars and cents. Aided by Rene Russo as Nina, a veteran of the blood-sport that is local TV news, Lou thrives. In the breakneck, ceaseless search for footage, he becomes the star of his own story.

LET’S BE COPS First Cross-Country Movie Tour Making A Stop In St. Louis, Friday July 25th

20th Century Fox is bringing you a one of a kind way to watch their upcoming buddy cop comedy, LET’S BE COPS.

In it’s first cross-country movie tour, the CineTransformer, a 53-foot double expandable trailer that turns into a 91-seat movie theater, will travel more than 8,034 miles to show the film in 29 cities.

It will make a stop in St. Louis this Friday on July 25th.
