Win A Pass To The Advance Screening Of HITCHCOCK in St. Louis

Lurking behind Alfred Hitchcock, cinema’s “master of suspense” — the extraordinary film icon known for orchestrating some of the most intense experiences of menace and intrigue audiences have ever seen, was a hidden side: his creatively explosive romance with his steadfast wife and filmmaking collaborator, Alma Reville.

Now, for the first time, director Sacha Gervasi’s HITCHCOCK lays bare their captivating and complex love story. It does so through the sly, shadowy lens of their most daring filmmaking adventure: the making of the spine-tingling 1960 thriller, PSYCHO, which would become the director’s most controversial and legendary film. When the tumultuous, against-the-odds production was over, nothing about movies would ever be the same – but few realized that it took two to pull it off.

Gervasi and a cast that includes Academy Award® winners Anthony Hopkins and Helen Mirren starring as Alfred and Alma spin a story rife with surprises, comic ironies and dark twists in the Hitchockian tradition. But at the heart of the film lies not only the obsessions and fears of two people but the distinctively tenacious love that drove Hitchcock’s art behind the curtain.

HITCHCOCK opens at the St. Louis Plaza Frontenac on Friday, November 30th.

Fox Searchlight and WAMG invite you to enter to win a pass to the advance screening of HITCHCOCK on November 27th at 7PM in St. Louis

  • Alma died at age 82, two years after Hitchcock’s death.
  • Hitchcock’s first American film was THE 39 STEPS, which won the Academy Award for Best Picture (but Hitchcock never won the award for Best Director, despite five nominations).
  • PSYCHO made two-and-a-half times more at the box office than Hitchcock’s previous biggest hit, NORTH BY NORTHWEST, and Hitchcock was nominated for his fifth and last Academy Award for directing and once again did not win.

WINNERS WILL BE CHOSEN THROUGH A RANDOM DRAWING OF QUALIFYING CONTESTANTS. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. PASSES WILL NOT BE SUBSTITUTED OR EXCHANGED. DUPLICATE TICKETS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

IFC Midnight Snags U.S. rights To REPLICAS; Theatrical/VOD Release Planned For 2013

IFC Midnight is acquiring all US rights to REPLICAS, the acclaimed thriller from director Jeremy Power Regimbal, which had its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in April. Starring Selma Blair (HELLBOY), Joshua Close (THE PACIFIC), James D’Arcy (W.E.), and Rachel Miner (BULLY), the film was produced by Regimbal and Justin Tyler Close, and was executive produced by Tina Pehme, Kim C. Jackson, of North American sales agent Turtles Crossing LLC, negotiated the sale with Jeff Deutchman, Director, Acquisitions & Productions, Sundance Selects/IFC Films.

REPLICAS is Jeremy Power Regimbal’s first feature after helming numerous commercials and music videos through his company The Lab Media Group. The script, co-written by cast member Joshua Close, was based on a story from Regimbal and producer Justin Tyler Close, the creators of The Lab Magazine.

Check out these brand new photos from the set of Madonna’s film W.E. The film premiered at the 68th Venice Film Festival earlier this month and will show this evening at the Toronto International Film Festival. The Weinstein Company will release W.E. in New York and Los Angeles on December 9, 2011.

Synopsis:

W.E. tells the story of two fragile but determined women – Wally Winthrop and Wallis Simpson – separated by more than six decades.  In 1998, lonely New Yorker Wally Winthrop (Abbie Cornish) is obsessed with what she perceives as the ultimate love story: King Edward’s VIII’s abdication of the British throne for the woman he loved, American divorcée Wallis Simpson.  But Wally’s research, including several visits to the Sotheby’s auction of the Windsor Estate, reveals that the couple’s life together was not as perfect as she thought. Weaving back and forth in time, W.E. intertwines Wally’s journey of discovery in New York with the story of Wallis (Andrea Riseborough) and Edward (James D’Arcy), from the glamorous early days of their romance to the slow unraveling of their lives in the decades that followed.

A Taste Of Madonna’s W.E.

On Sept. 1st, W.E. premiered out of competition at the 68th Venice Film Festival with the film’s stars and director, Madonna, in attendance. The “Material Girl” hit the red carpet before greeting a flurry of photographers and reporters at the press conference.

Unfortunately, the film’s reception wasn’t as enthusiastic. In his review of Madonna’s film, Guy Lodge from In Contention called it “irredeemably silly, self-admiring ode to life, love and all the fabulous bed linens in between.” With that in mind, check out this clip of W.E.

In a haute couture feast for the eyes, have a look at a smattering of the costumes in store for Madonna’s W.E.

In the Vanity Fair piece, reporter Krista Smith says:

“The fashions, modeled here by Riseborough and D’Arcy, were the special domain of Madonna’s longtime collaborator Arianne Phillips. The Oscar-nominated costume designer worked with such labels as Cartier, Dior, and Dunhill for the 60 or so wardrobe changes in the film.”
