TWILIGHT NIGHT – St. Louis Turns Out Big Crowd

TWILIGHT NIGHT in Saint Louis had a huge turnout, setting the bar for the massive record-breaking crowds that turned out for the opening of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE.

From Variety: “TWILIGHT: ECLIPSE, descended on the fanatical masses at midnight, as it debuted with an estimated $30 million and topped the highest grossing midnight movie of all-time.”

The event had plenty for fans to enjoy, including Nordstrom Team Edward and Team Jacob make-overs, photo opportunities, lots of great free TWILIGHT giveaways, a fantastic cover band and an evening outdoor screening of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON… and much more.

The icing on the cake for the fans was a guest appearance by TWILIGHT star Jack Huston, who plays Royce King in ECLIPSE. While many had an opportunity to see him in person, a select few fans won VIP Meet and Greet access to the star, complete with autographs and photo opportunities.

WAMG Interview with JACK HUSTON

WAMG’s Melissa Howland got a chance to sit down with actor Jack Huston (who plays Royce King in THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE) while visiting Saint Louis to talk about acting for stage and screen, working with Nikki Reed and Al Pacino, and being a part of The Twilight Saga phenomenon.

Review: THE TWILIGHT SAGA – ECLIPSE

Oh ladies… it’s about to get steamy in here.

The third installment of the Twilight series is here, and it is pretty darn streamy. In ‘Eclipse’, Bella (Kristen Stewart) is pushing to be turned into a vampire by Edward (Robert Pattinson). His request is for her to marry him, then he will be the one to turn her himself. This absolutely devistates Jacob (Taylor Lautner), and he starts to fight for her love, harder than he has before. In the process, Victoria (Bryce Dallas Howard… a new addition to the cast) has joined with the Volturi to form an army of new vampires, lead by Riley (Xavier Samuel), who just so happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Now, vampires and wolves alike must join forces to keep Bella safe and to defeat the vicious, wreckless army of new vampires.

The chemistry in this movie is rather intense. Pattinson, Stewart, and Lautner have all settled quite nicely into their roles. They are actually rather believable in their tangled little love triangle. Lautner was given some nice little zingers to throw into his dialogue. Pattinson didn’t have much going on in the film, so his role was a bit flat. As for Stewart, she always seems a bit flat. It just seems like she could be a tad bit more dramatic. I know the role of Bella is clumsy and argumentative, but still… there could be a little more passion there.

The story line was a bit bland for the book. As much as I enjoyed the love triangle, there still could have been a bit more action. Heck, with how much the cast had to train, I was expecting way more out of the fight scenes. The fight scenes that they did have were rather stunning to watch. Still, it left me wanting more.

It was pretty cool seeing Jack Huston, who I got the chance to interview Saturday in the film. He was great as Royce King. Might I add that he was super nice (and ladies… pretty darn attractive!). Seriously, I am honored to have gotten the chance to sit down with him.

The one big complaint I have about this film is that the wig that Stewart had to wear was TERRIBLE! I couldn’t stop staring at it!  I know that her hair was cut off for her role in “The Runaways”, but they could have done a better job with the color, length and overall appearance of that hideous mop!

So, to sum it all up for all you Twi-Hards… Pattinson – HOT… Lautner – HOT… story-Eh!

Overall Rating: 3.75 out of 5 stars

New TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE Poster Begins With a Choice

First there was the choice between Photoshop and Pixenate or any number of other programs one could use to airbrush a photo.  Then there was the choice as to how airbrushed Kristen Stewart should be.  Do we airbrush coherence back into the gaze she’s giving us, or do we just let her be herself?  Then there was the choice of how big to make the logo.  We don’t want to make it too huge so as to draw attention away from our beautiful cast and the wonderful airbrushing work that went into making them appear all but absolutely fake.

All of those choices culminated, and what we have remaining is the latest poster for THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE.

Check it out:

So many choices to come up with something so bland.

ECLIPSE hits theaters on June 30th.

Too Much Shirt in the new TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE Teaser

It’s been four, long months since NEW MOON, nearly a lifetime in the world of a teenage girl wanting her Edward/Jacob fix.  And, judging from what I’m hearing, that 10-second clip from yesterday didn’t offer too much in the form of appeasement.  What could?  How about a full, 90-second teaser for the David Slade-directed ECLIPSE?

Now, I know what you’re saying.  “Shut up, Mr. Talky Man, and let’s see this thing.”  Well, if you really didn’t care about what I had to say, you would have scrolled down and watched it by now.  For the rest of you, there is a fair warning going into this trailer.  Not that I was paying all that close attention, but, from what I gathered, there’s a lot more of this…

…than there is of this…

Until the final, few frames of the trailer, Taylor Lautner keeps his shirt on while Robert Pattinson looks like he’s trying to keep from getting sick all over the flighty Kristen Stewart.  Some of you may see this lack of skins in favor of shirts a hindrance, while others might be more inclined to watch the new trailer now.

Nonetheless, to the rest of us, those who really don’t care either way, this looks like more of the same, more bothersome drama in the love triangle between a teenage girl, a vampire without fangs and who can go out in sunlight, and boy whose character was, evidently, ripped off by some Benicio Del Toro film.

Courtesy of Yahoo! Movies, here is that new trailer.  Enjoy!

THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE Teaser – 10 Seconds of Vampire Love

This morning fan girls (and some fan boys) woke up like it was Christmas with the release of the first official footage from THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE. While normally this isn’t the most important thing for movie geeks, we still have to note that now millions of young kids have been turned on by the film entertainment thanks to these films.

Check out the 10 second teaser for THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE from MakingOf.com. Let us know what you think below. Will this surpass NEW MOON in terms of sales? Only a few more months to go.

TWILIGHT Vampires Will Glimmer For One More Night

twilight

Evidently $383 million worldwide against a $37-million budget just isn’t enough for some studios.   Summit Entertainment announced today it will be re-releasing TWILIGHT, the first film in the franchise, into theaters on November 19th.   The film will play this date, the day before the release of the second film, NEW MOON, on select theaters around nationwide.

Even though TWILIGHT has been tearing up DVD players for months, expect it to rake in some major cash from this re-release, as well.   Fans of the series are sure to be frothing at the mouths to get back into theaters to prime their engines for release of the new film.

Be sure to check your theater listings before slapping in your faux fangs and heading out the door.   Oh, right.   I almost forgot.   These vampires don’t have fangs.   And they can go out during the day.   And they don’t drink blood.   Which makes them…not vampires?

Anyway, in related news, director David Slade also announced via his Twitter Page that the third film, ECLIPSE, has wrapped production.   Expect official stills to come soon from that film, as well, I’m sure, as a trailer that is sure to run in front of NEW MOON upon its release on November 20th.

THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE Logo Will Thrill You

twilight eclipse logo

Why do I say that those silver (and a little bit of red) words against a black background courtesy of Summit Entertainment will thrill you?   Well, for one, if you’re a TWILIGH SAGA die-hard, it means you are one step closer to having the third installment chucked in your general direction.   For another, if you’re a fan of David Slade and his previous films, HARD CANDY and 30 DAYS OF NIGHT, this means you’re on your way to seeing his new film.

I have this sliver of a feeling in my movie-loving gut that Slade is going to make a hardcore, balls-to-the-wall, gorefest of a picture, Stephenie Meyer and the Twilighters be damned.   I wanna see Jacob swinging an axe Josh Hartnett style and Edward being strapped down to a table by Bella for some surgical precision.   Yeah, there’s no way in hell I’m gonna get any of that, but a horror lover can dream, right?

On the upside, the words are all spelled correctly, so the movie’s got that going for it…which is nice.

THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE is set for release June 30th, 2010.
