Shia LaBeouf Talks ‘Indiana Jones 5’ and ‘Wall Street 2’

Remember the end of ‘Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls’ when Mutt picked up the hat, and Spielberg teased us with the possibility that Shia LaBeouf might actually put it on?  Yeah.  That sucked.

Anyway, LaBeouf was promoting ‘Transformers 2’ on BBC News when he explained that Spielberg had “cracked the story” for an ‘Indiana Jones 5’ and that they are gearing up for that film.

LaBeouf also told the interviewer that the official title for the ‘Wall Street’ sequel is ‘Money Never Sleeps.’

Here is hoping ‘Indy 5’ gets made sooner than later.  As someone who absolutely loathed so much about ‘Crystal Skull,’ I still cannot convince myself that I would not highly anticipate another Indiana Jones adventure.  Now, if we get a film about Mutt Williams on his own, then there might be riots.

As far as the sequel to ‘Wall Street’ goes, I’m glad they aren’t calling it ‘Wall Street 2.’  There’s a sense of seriousness when you give a film’s sequel a completely different title than the original, and that is something this sequel is going to need for it to be a success.

Megatron is Returning for ‘Revenge of the Fallen’

One question on fans of the original ‘Transformers’ when they announced that a sequel was happening was, “Is Megatron coming back?”   Okay, maybe I was the only one asking that question, but I asked loud enough to account for the masses who weren’t.   One of Michael Bay’s original statements about ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’ was that Megatron would NOT be returning.   Turns out Bay’s pants are on fire, ’cause the big robot baddie is coming back if you trust what Hugo Weaving has to say.

Check out this excerpt from The Advertiser, an Australian newspaper:

In town to promote his rather excellent new Aussie film, “Last Ride”, Hugo Weaving let slip he’ll be returning as the voice of Megatron in “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen”.

Fans no doubt will recall that when we last saw Megatron, Sam (Shia LaBeouf) had rammed the All Spark cube into his chest, thereby destroying him. Despite this certain death, rumours have been circulating the villain was going to make a comeback. Director Michael Bay went so far as to flatly deny the rumour, telling Empire: “He’s not in the movie”.

Turns out Bay was fibbing. “I’ve already done it,” Weaving says, adding Bay had told him to keep the news hush-hush. “He’s over in LA and we were working on the video split sort of thing and I had this strange conversation where he seemed to imply it was all a big secret. So there you go – I’ve given you the secret scoop.”

So how is Megatron resurrected? Weaving is coy about revealling too much, but does give a tiny hint.

“I think in the last one, doesn’t Optimus Prime pick up a little bit of, a shard of the cube, or the thing that’s left, and he takes it with him. Maybe there’s something there… but I don’t know,” he laughs.

We’ll find out on June 25, the film’s Australian release.”

I think Weaving has been a huge star in geeks’ eyes ever since he donned the sunglasses to play Agent Smith, and it’s pretty cool that he’s doing the voice of Megatron once again.

I guess we’ll all find out what other things Bay has lied about when the film comes out on June 24th.

‘Transformers’ Exhibit Exclusive Recap

What better way to cap off a weekend roadtrip to Chi-town to see ‘The Dark Knight’ at the Navy Pier IMAX than to also hit the Chicago Auto Show. Â  At this year’s Auto Show, General Motors used the stage to show off five Chevrolet cars that are playing important roles in the upcoming ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’.

Official ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’ Teaser Trailer

If you were one of the 600 million people who went to see ‘Friday the 13th’ this past weekend, chances are you saw the new teaser trailer for ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’.   If you were one of two people who were snowed in somewhere, worry not.   We got the trailer for you right here, right now.

Check it out:

This is a pretty sweet trailer.   It has the same, foreboding style that the first film’s first trailer had, and I love it.   You can’t not love the underwater shot of the aircraft carrier sinking.   Also, I’m assuming the giant robot with the single wheel is The Fallen.   Very cool!

‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’ comes out on June 24th, and stay tuned.   Later today, we’ll be bringing you a recap and pictures from the Chicago AutoShow/Transformers Exhibit where many of the cars from the film were on display.

Chevy Auto Booth Showcasing ‘Transformers’

That sweet looking car you see above is the new Stingray Corvette Concept, which will be playing the character of Sideswipe in the upcoming ‘Transformer: Revenge of the Fallen’.

In fact, the Chevy booth at the Chicago AutoShow this weekend is going to be devoted to the characters from the film.   Dubbed “Autobots With Bow Ties” (referring to Chevy’s logo), the booth will include the production version of the 2010 Camaro as Bumblebee; the all-electric Volt, bowing in 2011, as Jolt; and small car concepts the Beat (to go into production as the Spark in 2011) and Trax as the twins Skids and Mudflap.

“Chevrolet is thrilled to again be part of one of the most anticipated movies in years,” said Ed Peper, GM North America vice president, Chevrolet. “‘Transformers’ gives us a great opportunity to connect with young people on their terms, with a dynamic, environmentally friendly image. The new characters represent the change going on in Chevy showrooms. From the exciting Camaro, the 21st century sports car, to the game-changing Volt, there’s more than meets the eye at Chevrolet today.”

“‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’ goes way beyond the first film in terms of robot action and excitement,” said LeeAnne Stables, executive vice president of worldwide marketing partnerships at Paramount Pictures, the distributor of the film. “The new AUTOBOTS add to the storytelling, and these Chevy vehicles went with our filmmakers to locations all around the world. GM has again provided incredible support to the production team working on the movie.”

‘Transformers 2’ Gets Moved Up

It’s just two days.   Nothing major, but this will give ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’ an extra 48 hours to rake in the moolah.   The film will now come out in conventional and IMAX theaters on June 24th.

Superbowl Spots Galore!

Tonight is the big game, but movie geeks all over the world are going to be tuned into the Superbowl to not only watch the game but to also see their first glimpses of some of this coming Summer’s biggest movies. Â  Well, folks, we have most of those glimpses right here for your viewing pleasure.

First Look at Soundwave from ‘Transformers 2’

Empire has posted the first look at Soundwave (the action figure, anyway) from ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’.

Here he is in jet form:

Of course, for those knowledgeable in all things ‘Transformers’, Soundwave was originally a Decepticon who transformed into a microcassette recorder. Â  Later, in the Transformers: Cybertron series, he transformed into a jet.

Early efforts to include Soundwave into the 2007 film had the Decepticon transforming into a helicopter. Â  Poor fan reaction made the filmmakers change the name of the helicopter-transforming robot to Blackout. Â  Soundwave was left out of the film altogether.

His new digs for ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’ are pretty sweet. Â  Can’t wait to see some actual footage of him.
