‘GI Joe’s Poster Goes International

gi-joe-international-poster

Who is that masked Cobra in the top right?  Is it Cobra Commander?  Is it an early version of Destro’s silver head?  Is it me, or does Sienna Miller not even look like Sienna Miller there?  She looks more like some airbrushed, ’80s, goth version of Mila Kunis holding ray guns.  Could we make Snake Eyes any less prominent?  And why is Channing Tatum turning away from us?  Is he ashamed to be here?

Seriously, last question.  Is this film so friggin’ huge that it needs two taglines?  I can understand the one about “when all else fails,” but, honestly, does Cobra really need their own tagline?  One so lame, to boot.

This international poster fails.  Sort out that conundrum.

‘GI Joe’ Trailer Does Wonders for French Relations

gi-joe1

Not exactly sure what to make of this.   On one hand, it’s typical, Stephen Sommers’ CG explosions, loud explosions, green explosions (the guy’s got a thing for green explosions), and basically every, silly element that makes ‘Van Helsing’ the hated film it is today.

On the other hand, it’s friggin’ ‘GI Joe,’ people.   It’s Snake Eyes leaping from a flipping (literally flipping.   That’s no euphemism.)   SUV to land, picture-perfect on top of another car.   It’s Cobra tearing ass through Paris, collapsing the Eiffel Tower on top of screaming, fleeing, French people.   It’s Mr. Eko telling Marlon Wayans exactly where he can stick his accelerator suit.

Just see it for yourself:

‘GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra’ comes out on August 7th.   The population of Paris, France gets cut in half August 8th.

Cobra Commander’s New Look Revealed

cobra-commander

Ever since ‘G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra’ was announced, one question on the minds of every fan of the toy-line or cartoon has been what will Cobra Commander look like.   Will he have the hood a la the pic above or will it be the metallic face plate?   Well, our questions have been answered.

Cool Toy Review has pictures of some action figures coming out especially for the movie.   One of them is a two-pack featuring Duke and Cobra Commander.

The verdict? It’s neither the hood nor the face plate.   I won’t show any pics of it here since it’s probably considered a spoiler, so here’s the link to it.

Cool Toy Review

Honestly, I’m gonna have to say I don’t like this new look.   What’s wrong with the hood?   The face plate was kinda chintzy, but that hood was friggin’ awesome. Oh well.   I’m still super stoked for this movie.

What do you think?   Do you like the new Cobra Commander look?   Did you even bother with spoiling that part of the film for yourself?   How well do you think Joseph Gordon Levitt will fill the role?   Let us know by commenting below!

Stephen Sommers Talks About ‘GI Joe’

Stephen Sommers recently spoke with Entertainment Weekly about his upcoming adaptation of ‘G.I. Joe’. Â  Among the topics, he explained what inspired him in dealing with the film.

“It’s funny now how Bond wants to be Bourne. I loved ‘Quantum of Solace’, but it was like, man, this is a completely different movie to the Bonds I grew up with. In a very contemporary way, ‘G.I. Joe’ is inspired by the memory of the kind of movies I saw when I was younger.”

Sommers also revealed one scene from the upcoming film.

“I remember being in the theater for ‘Thunderball’ and the big underwater battle at the end of that movie just blew my socks off. In ‘G.I. Joe’ there’s an underwater battle under the polar icecap that’s Thunderball times 10.”

Sommers also spoke up about star Sienna Miller’s (who plays Baroness in the film) recent claims that her breasts were “enhanced” for the film by saying, in the film, she wears,  “a tight black leather outfit. And much bigger boobs…. They gave me these things that looked like chicken fillets.   The director said, ‘I’m gonna be honest, I like girls with big boobs,’ and I don’t have them so we made them bigger…. At least he’s honest. But I was mildly offended.”

Says Sommers, “”Everybody here laughed because they know I would NEVER say that to an actress. Â  I guess the costume department gave her a tight fitting bra, but no one gave her rubber breasts or whatever. It is 100 percent Sienna Miller.”
