The world was introduced to Wes Craven’s Freddy Krueger (portrayed by Robert Englund) in 1984 with A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET.  Krueger was a former child killer seeking revenge against the parents who burned him by haunting the dreams of their teenage children and killing them in their dreams.  The series has earned almost half a billion dollars, worldwide, and boasts some of the most beloved, nightmarish themes from composers including: Charles Bernstein (Wes Craven’s A Nightmare On Elm Street), Christopher Young (A Nightmare On Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge), Angelo Badalamenti (A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors), Craig Safan (A Nightmare On Elm Street 4: The Dream Master), Jay Ferguson (A Nightmare On Elm Street 5: The Dream Child), Brian May (Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare), J. Peter Robinson (Wes Craven’s New Nightmare), and Graeme Revell (Freddy Vs. Jason).

Also included in this set is a suite from the video game featured in the film Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare and the theme from Henry Manfredini’s FRIDAY THE 13TH series, as heard in the film FREDDY VS. JASON (with performances by the band Machine Head).

Pre-orders for the Varèse Sarabande A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET limited edition 8-CD box set will be taken beginning Friday, September 18 at www.varesesarabande.com. The boxed set will ship on October 16, 2015

Win The MAD MAX: FURY ROAD Soundtrack – Composed By Junkie XL

mad max fury road cd cover

WAMG is giving away the soundtrack from Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Village Roadshow Pictures’ post-apocalyptic action-thriller MAD MAX: FURY ROAD from Grammy nominated producer and composer Junkie XL.

Starring Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron, and Nicholas Hoult and directed by Oscar winner George Miller, the mastermind behind the legendary “Mad Max” franchise, FURY ROAD is a return to the world of Road Warrior, Max Rockatansky (Hardy). Haunted by his turbulent past, Max teams up with a mysterious woman, Furiosa (Theron), to try and survive a high-octane Road War.

The film is in theaters now.

FURY ROAD

The movie’s vast landscape provided ample opportunity for the composer to explore a diverse range of musical territory, from beating drums to sweeping strings and electric guitar-driven operatic themes, utilizing nearly 200 instruments. “The score includes almost everything in a composer’s arsenal. The instrumentation ranges from big, brutal percussion with string sections and musical sound design, and everything in between. I used anything I could get my hands on,” says the composer.

Read our interview with Junkie XL here.

The original motion picture soundtrack is available from WaterTower Music.

From Walt Disney Pictures and visionary director Tim Burton comes an epic 3D fantasy adventure ALICE IN WONDERLAND, a magical and imaginative twist on some of the most beloved stories of all time.  JOHNNY DEPP stars as the Mad Hatter and MIA WASIKOWSKA as 19-year-old Alice, who returns to the whimsical world she first encountered as a young girl, reuniting with her childhood friends:   the White Rabbit, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, the Dormouse, the Caterpillar, the Cheshire Cat, and of course, the Mad Hatter.   Alice embarks on a fantastical journey to find her true destiny and end the Red Queen’s reign of terror.   The all-star cast also includes ANNE HATHAWAY, HELENA BONHAM CARTER and CRISPIN GLOVER. The screenplay is by Linda Woolverton.

Capturing the wonder of Lewis Carroll’s beloved “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” (1865) and “Through the Looking-Glass” (1871) with stunning, avant-garde visuals and the most charismatic characters in literary history.
