Who Deserves to be a Potato Head?

In a strange and awkwardly comical world, inhabited by tuberous beings with tiny white arms and legs and ginormous eyeballs, the possibilities would be endless. So, one day as I was browsing the endless isles of Toys R’ Us, happened upon a plethora of character-themed Potato Head toys and asked myself… “Who deserves to be a Potato Head?”

We’ve seen a slew of them already, from Darth Tater to Spider-Spud, from Yam Solo to Indiana Jones, from Opitmash Prime to R2D2… we’ve seen many of our favorite movies characters become spud-iculous jokes. But what about the characters we love that maybe aren’t seen as worthy by PlaySkool? Below are a few ideas we came up with that could make some Movie Geeks very happy.

The WolfSpud Tater of the Dead Live Long and Potato

I’ll be adding more new Mr. Potato Head movie characters as I create them… it does take a bit of time and patience. If you have any ideas for movie-themed Potato Head characters you’d like to see “conceptualized” then shoot me an email and I’ll add it to my list.

First Official ‘Public Enemies’ Pics

These first, two pics from Michael Mann’s new film ‘Public Enemies’ were made available from Empire Magazine. Â  The film follows FBI agent Melvin Purvis (Christian Bale) and his attempt to bring down such infamous criminals as John Dillinger (Johnny Depp), Pretty Boy Floyd (Channing Tatum), and Baby Face Nelson (Stephen Graham). Â  The film also stars Marion Cotillard, Giovanni Ribisi, Stephen Dorff, Billy Crudup, and David Wenham.

The last time we had a really good, 1930s, gangster film was 2002’s ‘Road to Perdition’. Â  It will be interesting to see what Mann has to offer in this genre. Â  It will also be interesting to see Bale and Depp share the screen together. Â  Theaters may just implode from all the awesomeness going on.

‘Public Enemies’ comes out on July 1, 2009.

‘New Moon’ Starts Shooting in March

I never thought I’d be bringing you news from Ryan Seacrest’s radio show, but here it is. Â  He was talking with ‘Twilight’ star Kristen Stewart on his KiisFM show when the subject of the film’s sequel, ‘New Moon’, came up. Â  Stewart told him that the sequel begins shooting in March, just four short months away. Â

If you give two or three months for principal photography and another three months for post-production, that means ‘New Moon’ could potentially get a release sometime late next year. Â  As ‘Saw’ has become an October tradition, the ‘Twilight’ series could easily become a November tradition.

For the full interview with Stewart, as well as Seacrest actually reading from the ‘Twilight’ novel, check out the ‘Twilight’-themed page KiisFM has set up on their site.

So far, ‘Twilight’ has made $119 million, almost tripling its $37 million budget in two weeks.

So, what do you think? Â  Is one year enough time to put together a solid sequel to ‘Twilight’? Â  Would you like to see the ‘Twilight’ movies get punched out as fast as the ‘Saw’ films? Â  Let us know by commenting below!

First Pic of Gambit from ‘Wolverine’

Here we have the first look at Gambit from the new ‘Wolverine’ film courtesy of Empire Magazine. Â  The card-carrying (literally) mutant who can manipulate kinetic energy is played by Taylor Kitsch (Friday Night Lights).

Not sure if Kitsch was the perfect choice for this role, but it’s great to see the talented actor getting such a prime part in a huge movie.

What do you think of Gambit’s look? Â  Let us know below!

On a side note, if you’re not watching Friday Night Lights, you are missing out on the absolute best series television has to offer. Â  Be sure to check it out when it comes back to NBC in January.
