Synopsis:

Walt Disney Studios, producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Jon Turteltaub present ‘The Sorcerer’s Apprentice’ — an innovative and epic comedy adventure about a sorcerer and his hapless apprentice who are swept into the center of an ancient conflict between good and evil.

Dave (Jay Baruchel) is just an average college student, or so it appears, until the sorcerer Balthazar Blake (Nicolas Cage) recruits him as his reluctant protege and gives him a crash course in the art and science of magic. As he prepares for a battle against the forces of darkness in modern-day Manhattan, Dave finds it is going to take all of the courage he can muster to survive his training, save the city and get the girl as he becomes ‘The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.’

THE SORCERER’S APPRENTICE is rated PG and magically materializes in theaters on July 14, 2010.

New Theatrical Trailer for THE SORCERER’S APPRENTICE

Check out the new trailer for Jon Turteltaub’s new Disney flick THE SORCERER’S APPRENTICE featuring Balthazar Blake as the powerful sorcerer Nic Cage… or, I think I got that backwards. Who can tell? Anyway, the trailer’s continue to surprise me, potentially promising a very good time of snarky humor, great special effects and the trademark style of acting that only Nic Cage can deliver. This new trailer shows us a bit more of Jay Baruchel’s “apprentice” character, but I still get goosebumps every time I am reminded of Alfred Molina’s presence in the film. What an actor! THE SORCERER’S APPRENTICE opens nationwide on July 14, 2010.

UPDATE:
Just Jared scored a few more pics on this, which we’ve added further below.

We’ve seen some set pics of ‘Sorcerer’s Apprentice’ before now, most of them showing Nic Cage and Jay Baruchel walking around a New York Subway.   Three months, two vehicles, and a Sbarro later, we are here to bring you the first, official pics from the film.   Most of them feature co-star Monica Bellucci doing her best impression of a Disney princess. One of them, seen above, features Cage and his latest, inspired hairstyle.

No Magic Wand to Save Failed “Sorcerers Apprentice” Stunt

A car-chase scene gone awry during the filming of Nicholas Cage’s new film The Sorcerer’s Apprentice has left two innocent bystanders injured.

In what seems a twisted homage to Gone in 60 Seconds, a Ferrari and a Mercedes went careening down 7th Avenue in Times Square for the scene when the stunt driver lost control of the Ferrari and swerved across the lanes, taking out a newsstand, a lamppost and the entrance to a Sbarro. (Personally, I wasn’t aware that Sbarros even existed outside of shopping malls, but I suppose that’s my southern upbringing taking over.) While the street had been closed for filming, pedestrians who lined up around the edges of the set to catch a glimpse of filming may have been too close for comfort–a woman was knocked over in the street and a man nearly pinned by a falling lamppost.

So far it has been reported that both people have been sent to the hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries–the woman was not involved with the film, and the man has not yet been identified. As of now, there’s no confirmation on whether Cage was on set at the time of the crash or the status of the stunt driver who lost control of the Ferrari.
