Charlize Theron In First Look Photo From DARK PLACES – Exclusive Media Completes Sales For Film At AFM

Producer and co-financier Exclusive Media has completed major sales on DARK PLACES, the film adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s best-selling novel of the same title starring Oscar winning actress Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult, Chloë Grace Moretz, Emmy Award nominated actress Christina Hendricks and Drea de Matteo, it was announced by Alex Walton, President of International Sales and Distribution for Exclusive Media.

DARK PLACES tells the story of Libby Day, a woman who, at the age of 7, survives the massacre of her family and testifies against her brother as the murderer. Twenty-five years later, a group obsessed with solving notorious crimes confronts her with questions about the horrific event.

All rights deal were completed with Mars in France, Remstar in Canada, CCC in Japan, Svensk in Scandinavia, Ascot Elite in Switzerland, Nu Metro in South Africa, Odeon in Greece, Sam Films in Iceland, Tanweer in Turkey, India and Pakistan, Tandem in Bulgaria, SOLD in Eastern Europe, Discovery in Croatia/Slovenia/Serbia, AQS in the Czech Republic, Prorom in Hungary and Romania, Monolith in Poland, West in Russia/the Baltic States, Noori in South Korea, and United King in Israel.

Exclusive Media also completed deals with IDC in Latin America, Front Row in the Middle East, PT Amero in Indonesia, Universal Excel in Malaysia, Captive in the Philippines, Intercontinental in Hong Kong, M Pictures in Thailand, Noori / Megastar in Vietnam, Cathay in Singapore, CMC in Taiwan, Fox/Star for SEAsian TV and Jaguar for planes/ships.

“Best-selling author of three novels including Gone Girl, Gillian Flynn has proven to be the big draw card to buyers as well as the film’s all-star cast and the response so far has been incredible,” said Alex Walton.

Written and directed by Gilles Paquet-Brenner (SARAH’S KEY), DARK PLACES is co-financed by Exclusive Media and Cuatro Plus Films. Exclusive Media is producing with Stephane Marsil of Hugo Films, Charlize Theron’s Denver and Delilah Productions partners Beth Kono and AJ Dix; and Mandalay’s Cathy Schulman and Matt Rhodes. Written and directed by Gilles Paquet-Brenner (SARAH’S KEY), DARK PLACES tells the story of Libby Day (Theron), a woman who, at the age of 7, survives the massacre of her family and testifies against her brother as the murderer. Twenty-five years later, a group obsessed with solving notorious crimes confronts her with questions about the horrific event.  Told in a series of flashbacks from the points of view of Libby’s mother, Patty, and her brother, Ben, Libby is forced to revisit that fateful day and begins to question what exactly she saw – or didn’t see – the night of the tragedy.

Rounding out the cast alongside Theron, Hoult, Moretz, Hendricks, Toll and Sheridan are supporting cast members Sterling Jerins (WORLD WAR Z, THE CONJURING) who will play Young Libby and Shannon Kook (THE CONJURING).

Now this is my type of chick flick! Zombies and romance – that’s awesome! I’m a loyal ‘Walking Dead’ viewer, loved 2011’s 50/50 (should’ve seen more love from the Oscars) and I’m a big fan of THE WACKNESS from 2008 (How great was it to see Josh Peck in something other than Nickelodeon’s ‘Drake and Josh’ ). I’m very excited to what looks to be Levine’s tale about the “power of human connection”…  and Zombies.

Giants! Beanstalks! Magic Beans! Ready for a epic adventure? Watch the Ian McKellen narrated, fantasy-filled trailer for director Bryan Singer’s JACK THE GIANT SLAYER.

JACK THE GIANT KILLER tells the story of an ancient war that is reignited when a young farmhand unwittingly opens a gateway between our world and a fearsome race of giants. Unleashed on the Earth for the first time in centuries, the giants strive to reclaim the land they once lost, forcing the young man, Jack, into the battle of his life to stop them. Fighting for a kingdom, its people, and the love of a brave princess, he comes face to face with the unstoppable warriors he thought only existed in legend – and gets the chance to become a legend himself.

A vast improvement over the teaser trailer we showed you last December when the film was scheduled for a June 2012 release. I really like the tailor-made cast. Nicholas Hoult (X-MEN: FIRST CLASS) as Jack, Eleanor Tomlinson as Princess Isabelle, Stanley Tucci (JULIE & JULIA) as the deceitful Lord Roderick, Ian McShane (PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES) as the besieged King Brahmwell, Bill Nighy (HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS) as the giants’ leader General Fallon and Ewan McGregor (THE IMPOSSIBLE) as palace guard Elmont.

Singer reassembled some of the people he likes to work with best for this 3D movie. The screenplay comes from Singer’s long-time collaborator Christopher McQuarrie. The two previously worked on THE USUAL SUSPECTS and VALKYRIE, while the creative filmmaking team includes director of photography Newton Thomas Sigel (X-MEN, SUPERMAN RETURNS) and editor John Ottman (X2, SUPERMAN RETURNS).

Along with scribe McQuarrie, the screenplay is also by Darren Lemke (SHREK FOREVER AFTER) and Dan Studney, with a story by Darren Lemke & David Dobkin. I’m absolutely mad over the look of the film too – the production designer is Gavin Bocquet (STAR WARS: EPISODE III – REVENGE OF THE SITH). Singer filmed his new take on the fairytale on location in and around London.

From Warner Bros Pictures, JACK THE GIANT KILLER stomps into theaters in RealD 3D and IMAX 3D on March 1st.

The Road Warrior Returns In MAD MAX: FURY ROAD – George Miller Directing, Stars Tom Hardy & Charlize Theron

Principal photography began 9 July on the dystopian action adventure MAD MAX: FURY ROAD, a Kennedy Miller Mitchell production written and directed by “Mad Max” creator and Academy Award® winner George Miller (“Happy Feet”). The film will be presented by Warner Bros. Pictures in association with Village Roadshow Pictures. It will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures.

MAD MAX: FURY ROAD—the fourth in the franchise’s history—stars Tom Hardy (“The Dark Knight Rises”) in the title role of Max Rockatansky, alongside Oscar® winner Charlize Theron (“Monster”, “Prometheus”) as Imperator Furiosa.

According to Miller, “Mad Max is caught up with a group of people fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by the Imperator Furiosa. This movie is an account of the Road War which follows. It is based on the Word Burgers of the History Men and eyewitness accounts of those who survived.”

MAD MAX: FURY ROAD also stars Nicholas Hoult (“X-Men: First Class”) as Nux; Hugh Keays-Byrne (“Mad Max”, “Sleeping Beauty”) as Immortan Joe; and Nathan Jones (“Conan the Barbarian”) as Rictus Erectus. Collectively known as The Wives, Zoë Kravitz (“X-Men: First Class”) plays Toast, Riley Keough (“Magic Mike”) is Capable, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (“Transformers: Dark of the Moon”) is Splendid. They are joined by supermodel Abbey Lee Kershaw as The Dag and Courtney Eaton as Fragile, both of whom are making their big screen debuts. Miller is directing the film from a screenplay he wrote with Brendan McCarthy and Nico Lathouris. Iain Smith, Graham Burke and Bruce Berman serve as executive producers.

Shooting on MAD MAX: FURY ROAD is taking place in Africa with the support of the Australian government. Originally slated to be shot in Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia, the production was forced to relocate due to severe flooding, rendering the Australian landscape unsuitable for the film. The rain turned the area into an oasis instead of the post-apocalyptic terrain that is the setting for Max’s world.

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS Cast Photo Revealed

Synopsis:

X-Men First Class charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events. Before mutants had revealed themselves to the world, and before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Not archenemies, they were instead at first the closest of friends, working together with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop Armageddon. In the process, a grave rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.
