HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON Gets a Trailer

how to train your dragon

DreamWorks Animation’s next franchise hopeful hits theaters March 26th, 2010, but, thanks to Yahoo! Movies, we have the trailer for HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON right here, right now.

The film centers on a teenaged Viking, who, upon being sent to slay a fiersome dragon, befriends the creature.   The voice casting includes Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler, America Ferrara, Jonah Hill, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Craig Ferguson, Kristen Wiig, and T.J. Miller.   Wait, Gerard Butler is voicing a Viking?   I wonder if he sounds anything like King Leonidas.   Wait, Craig Ferguson is voicing a Viking?   I wonder if he will sound anything like Craig Ferguson.

Check out the trailer right here:

All in all, I can’t say the film looks all that bad.   It has some nice adventure laid out, and some funny comedy.   Of course, we saw pretty much this same story 13 years ago with DRAGONHEART, and that movie even had Dennis Quaid and the voice of Sean Connery.   If this is any consolation, HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON certainly looks far better than ERAGON.

What do you think?   Does this movie look promising?   Are you fed up with movies about human befriending dragons?   Will Gerard Butler just copy and past his performance from 300 here?   Let us know your thoughts by commenting below.

We’ll find out for sure when the film hits in conventional and IMAX theaters March 26th.

‘The Sorcerer’s Apprentice’ Finds a RocknRolla

Toby Kebbell, last seen kicking ass on screen as the real ‘RocknRolla,’ has joined the cast of Disney’s ‘The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.’Â   Kebbell has joined the film as Drake Stone, a celebrity illusionist in the vein of Chris Angel who joins forces with the evil sorcerer, Horvath, played by Alfred Molina.

Kebbell also joins Nicolas Cage, Jay Baruchel, and Teresa Palmer in the film, which is based on the Mickey Mouse segment of ‘Fantasia.’   The story revolves around a college student (Baruchel) who is given a crash course in magic by a sorcerer (Cage) to do battle with the evil forces that are invading.   Jon Turteltaub is directing the film, which is currently shooting.

‘The Sorcerer’s Apprentice’ is set for a July 16, 2010 release.

Alfred Molina Signs On for ‘Sorcerer’s Apprentice’

No, it’s not April Fool’s Day, and, no, this isn’t a prank. Â  Disney is making a live-action, big-screen adaptation of ‘The Sorcerer’s Apprentice’, the Mickey Mouse short from ‘Fantasia’. Â  The film is being directed by Jon Turteltaub (‘National Treasure’), produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, and will star Nicolas Cage and Jay Baruchel. Â  Alfred Molina has also just signed on to play the evil sorcerer, Horvath.

The story centers on an average college student (Baruchel) who is reluctantly recruited to work for a sorcerer named Balthazar Blake (Cage). The man gives him a crash course in the art and science of magic to prepare him for a battle against the forces of darkness in modern Manhattan.

The movie begins shooting this month in New York.

While I think this is an atrocious idea, I also remember saying the same thing about ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ back when I first heard about it. Â  We all know how that franchise ended up, don’t we. Â  However, Turteltaub is no Gore Verbinski, and I reiterate my lack of faith in how well this film is going to turn out.

WAMG First Look at ‘Just Buried’

justburied

So, this little dark comedy slipped through under the radar and, while the DVD officially released in the US on January 27, 2009, this is the first bit of info I have for you on the film. I plan on seeing this as soon as possible. Here’s a write-up from Liberation Entertainment:

Oliver (Jay Baruchel – Tropic Thunder, Knocked Up) is destined for an uneventful life until the day he and his brother Jackie breeze into town to attend the funeral of their estranged father. To everyone’s bewilderment, Oliver inherits his father’s estate—a funeral home.

Soon after his arrival, Oliver learns from the handyman Henry (Graham Greene) that the business is on the verge of bankruptcy. His life gets increasingly more complicated when he takes a drunken drive with the bewitching embalmer Roberta (Rose Byrne – TNT’s “Damages,” 28 Days Later) and collides with a hiker. Roberta cleverly disguises the fatality as an accident, providing Oliver with his ï ¬ rst-paying customer. This event launches a merciless killing spree as the duo tries to keep the funeral home alive.

With his business and love life blossoming, Oliver gains conï ¬ dence — until he realizes that he has dug a grave for himself too deep to escape.

Just Buried won “Best of the Fest” at the Santa Cruz Film Festival, “Best Director” at the Atlantic Film Festival, and was an “Official Selection” at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Jay Baruchel in ‘The Sorcerers Apprentice’

Knocked Up, Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist and Tropic Thunder… in all these movie, you see Jay Baruchel as a minor character. However, don’t worry because his time is coming in the form of Walt Disney’s newest feature ‘The Sorcerers Apprentice’ along side Nicolas Cage.  Ã‚  The actor is in final talks about his role in the movie which is a starring role, yay! Directing this movie is Jon Turteltaub and of course Jerry Bruckheimer is producing. ‘The Sorcerers Apprentice’ takes place in contemporary New York, where a wizard searches for an apprentice. That is really it on the synopsis front, but I personally can’t wait until I hear more about this.  I love Jay Baruchel!

‘Jay and Seth vs. the Apocalypse’ Short Trailer

I saw this trailer on Youtube about a year ago and loved it! I wondered if there was a movie out or if it was going to come out in the near future. The film will star Seth Rogen and Jay Baruchel, They previously worked together on the hit television program Undeclared and movie Knocked Up. Earlier today Scott talked about “Rogen going ‘Apocalypse’ on us” in a post and How people may get tired of his act. Its going to take a few years for people to get tired of him and his stoner type comedies.I think Rogen is a genius and has yet to disappoint. Scott also let it be known that Rogen and his writing partner, Evan Goldberg will team up to make this movie happen.
I’ll be at the theaters to see this one, Will you?
