Now, in a magical world where brownies, sorcerers, trolls, and other mystical creatures flourish, the adventure continues, as an unlikely group of heroes set off on a dangerous quest to places far beyond their home, where they must face their inner demons and come together to save their world.

“Willow” premieres November 30, exclusively on Disney+.

Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni took the stage to roars from the excited crowd. They announced that they had just come from the set of “Ahsoka,” which is in production now. Filoni confirmed that he is directing some episodes of the series, and then they shared a video greeting from Rosario Dawson, who is playing the title character, Ahsoka.

“Ahsoka” will follow the former Jedi knight as she investigates an emerging threat to the vulnerable New Republic. The new series is slated for 2023 and will be excusive to Disney+.

As if that wasn’t enough excitement from Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, the duo surprised the audience with the announcement of a new series for Disney+ that they are executive producing called “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.”

Favreau and Filoni went on to introduce creators Jon Watts and Christopher Ford, who are joining them as fellow executive producers on the series. “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew,” set in the New Republic era, is about a group of kids lost in the Star Wars galaxy trying to find their way home.

Watts and Ford had the pleasure of announcing that Jude Law would be starring in the series, set to launch on Disney+ in 2023.

During Star Wars Celebration, Favreau said, “I was just happy to make Star Wars and its started out as a small project, Disney Plus hadn’t even started yet and now Baby Yoda is everywhere. People really connected with the story, especially when we were all locked in our homes.”

Filoni said of the surprises in the previous season, “we came up with code names and didn’t tell anyone on set what was going on. Rosario didn’t even know she was on-set with Luke. We didn’t even have Skywalker drawn into the concept art and we would cut something else in during the dailies.”

From the triumphant return of legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett to the live-action debut of fan-favorite Ahsoka Tano, the second season of “The Mandalorian” was a fun, surprising, emotional thrill-ride which kept fans excited to see how each new weekly chapter unfolded. Disney+ brought viewers behind the scenes of the groundbreaking season in the hour-long “Making of Season Two” special.

In the installment of “Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian,” filmmakers and cast provided unprecedented access to the storytelling decisions and innovations that went into the second season of the Emmy Award-winning series.

It’s Official: Steven Spielberg And Harrison Ford Return For INDIANA JONES 5

indianajones

Disney has announced that INDIANA JONES will return to the big screen on July 19, 2019, for a fifth epic adventure in the blockbuster series.

Steven Spielberg, who directed all four previous films, will helm the as-yet-untitled project with star Harrison Ford reprising his iconic role. Franchise veterans Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall will produce.

“Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can’t wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019,” said Alan Horn, Chairman, The Walt Disney Studios. “It’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven.”

Famed archaeologist and explorer Indiana Jones was introduced in 1981’s Raiders of the Lost Ark – one of AFI’s 100 Greatest American Films of All Time – and later thrilled audiences in 1984’s Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, 1989’s Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

The four films have brought in nearly $2 billion at the global box office.

Harrison Ford Reps Deny He Wants Indiana Jones Killed

Being that it’s a slow Christmas week, The Huffington Post reported that, according to Showbizspy, Harrison Ford wanted to kill off his alter-ego Indiana Jones.

“Harrison thinks it would be good for Indy to die and pass on his hat to his son in the next one,” the site quotes an insider as saying.

“[Producer and creator] George [Lucas] especially is resisting the notion but [director] Steven [Spielberg] is considering it. Funnily enough Harrison wanted the same for Han Solo in the final Star Wars but George put an end to it. This time he doesn’t have all the say though.”

Not so fast says Ford’s reps:

“Ford representatives reached out to The Huffington Post to deny reports of Fords’ wish to kill off the Indiana Jones character, calling them false.”

Ford has played Professor Jones 4 times beginning with the 1981 classic RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK in 1981. The latest one was in 2008’s INDIANA JONES AND THE CRYSTAL SKULL with Shia LeBeouf playing Jones’ son.

Indy 5 is still in the planning stages of development.

Harrison Ford Talks ‘Indy 5’

indiana jones 5

The story for the new Indiana Jones is in the process of taking form.

That was how Harrison Ford put it when he spoke with the French newspaper,   Le Figaro.

Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and myself are agreed on what the fifth adventure will concern, and George is actively at work. If the script is good, I’ll be very happy to put the costume on again.

It’s not surprising that a fifth ‘Indy’ film is on its way.   ‘Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls’ pulled in over $786 million worldwide, and Ford isn’t getting any younger.   Of course, there is always the possibility of letting co-star Shia LaBeouf headline the next installment, but that’s just a shark waiting to be jumped.

And, while it may grit fan’s teeth to hear Lucas’ name back in context with the ‘Indiana Jones’ series, you have to seriously wonder how little of ‘Kingdom of Crystal Skulls’ lack of cohesion was his fault.   Spielberg has been hit or miss in recent years, at best, and Ford hasn’t made a solid film in 16 years.

Time will tell if ‘Indy 5’ recaptures the magic of the first three films or if it is just another hokey adventure for Papa and Boy Jones to get in.   Many fans are hoping and maybe even expecting the former rather than the latter.   Regardless, it’s sure to make a mint.

Shia LaBeouf Talks ‘Indiana Jones 5’ and ‘Wall Street 2’

shia indiana jones

Remember the end of ‘Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls’ when Mutt picked up the hat, and Spielberg teased us with the possibility that Shia LaBeouf might actually put it on?  Yeah.  That sucked.

Anyway, LaBeouf was promoting ‘Transformers 2’ on BBC News when he explained that Spielberg had “cracked the story” for an ‘Indiana Jones 5’ and that they are gearing up for that film.

LaBeouf also told the interviewer that the official title for the ‘Wall Street’ sequel is ‘Money Never Sleeps.’

Here is hoping ‘Indy 5’ gets made sooner than later.  As someone who absolutely loathed so much about ‘Crystal Skull,’ I still cannot convince myself that I would not highly anticipate another Indiana Jones adventure.  Now, if we get a film about Mutt Williams on his own, then there might be riots.

As far as the sequel to ‘Wall Street’ goes, I’m glad they aren’t calling it ‘Wall Street 2.’  There’s a sense of seriousness when you give a film’s sequel a completely different title than the original, and that is something this sequel is going to need for it to be a success.

Fan-Made ‘Gremlins’ Cross-Over short on YouTube…

Typically, I wouldn’t post something like this when it’s recently been covered very well by another site, but it’s so cool I wanted to add my hand in promoting it on the Internet. Originally covered by ShockTilYouDrop.com, this seven-minute long video is extremely well done and very enjoyable to watch. So, enjoy…

‘Indy 4’ brought in $311 million worldwide …

The numbers have come in, and Indiana Jones 4 has earned $311.1 million in 5 days. That is an enormous amount of money and this is a sign that Movie Nostalgia can get you very, very far.

Don’t get me wrong, the movie wasn’t HORRIBLE, but I didn’t think it was great. Up until the last 20 minutes, it would have been amazing. However 311.1 million worldwide should mean the movie was top notch, with no holes, and a great story. Which is definitely not the case with this flick.

Do you guys think the numbers reflect how good the movie is?

Review: ‘Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’

WARNING !!! May contain some very minor plot-related spoilers …

Travis:

Indiana Jones is an old(er) man, but he’s back in action kicking the bad guys’ butts. And, on that level this movie is lots of fun. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, aside from being a mouthful, is an action-packed thrill ride with all the old elements of Indy fun, plus some new younger additions from Shia LaBeouf as Mutt Williams. Harrison Ford returns one last time [or, maybe not?] as Indy, who picks up a “sidekick” of sorts in Mutt, who seeks him out to help save a fellow professor and Mutt’s mother.

A lengthy run of fast-paced adventure, chases and moments of barely eluded dangers ensues with special effects that are to be expected from a Steven Spielberg film. However, its the plot of this Indy film that bugs me. Everything is fine in this fourth installment, smoothly chugging along in traditional Indy fashion, until the Crystal Skull is revealed. For me, this is where the plot begins to ever so slightly veer off course. The kidnapped Professor Oxley (John Hurt) has seemingly lost his mind as a result of communicating with the Crystal Skull, so the nasty Communist Soviets who kidnapped him need Indy to take his place.

This is the point in the movie that has me questioning Spielberg’s and Lucas’ creative mindset. As the group of adventurers set forth in the Amazon to return the Crystal Skull to its proper place before the evil Soviets can, an uncharacteristic sci-fi subplot begins to develop and I have to say it really didn’t work for me. Aside from some set designs and special effects used in the Amazon scenes that reminded me way to much of National Treasure 2, I also felt the ending of the movie was far too reminiscent of Spielberg’s fascination with Close Encounters of the Third Kind and AI: Artificial Intelligence.

I know there are lots of die-hard Indy fans out there … I too love the Indy movies. Heck, I even really enjoyed watching this one. However, I also have to say its not my favorite … in fact, its my least favorite. Despite what I did not care for in Indiana Jones 4, what I did enjoy outweighs what I didn’t … especially Cate Blanchett, whose performance as the psychic Soviet bad-girl Irina Spalko was a pure pleasure [as always]. The film also stars Ray Winstone, Karen Allen and Jim Broadbent.

Zac:

Indiana Jones returns to the screen in a mostly successful film and another solid addition to the franchise. Spielberg, Ford, and Lucas all collaborated and agreed on a film that they all wanted to make and the end product successfully evolves our hero with a little bit more ware and tear and a few more years added on but maintains that same awe and wonder of the character who ultimately is out to discover, adventure, and do good.
We open with Indy under capture by a group of Russians infiltrating Area 51 in the Nevada desert in 1957. Led by Irina Spalko (Cate Blanchett) she is looking for the remnants of a crash in Roswell a few years prior that will help the Russians unlock the ultimate weapon through a possible mind control plot. Upon entering the hangar we quickly discover that we have seen this place before, at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Crates fill the warehouse from wall to wall, floor to celing, and using some gun powder he is able to track to the magnetically charged crate they are looking for. After a bit of a tom foolery and posturing, a dramatic chase scene breaks out in the warehouse, eventually ending in Indy’s escape into a “desert town.” What follows is a silly gag that I found hilarious but others might find a bit ridiculous, and this dilemma seems to be what is getting to a number of audiences.
I won’t spoil any further plot details here, but the film moves along from this moment, until the big car chase scene in the jungle, at a fantastic pace and fantastic storytelling that is on par with the best of stuff in the series. We are introduced to Mutt, a greaser with a love for history and his “family,” that needs Indiana’s help to put everything back to sorts with them. Mutt and Indiana set off on an adventure to follow the clues left behind for them with hope to solve the mystery laid in front of them and we are treated to some wonderful scenes as they research and move closer to their ultimate goal.
Where the film takes it slight mis-steps comes in the action set pieces leading up to the finale of the film. I will go ahead and say this now, the CGI monkey scene is terrible, absolutely the low point of the series, just awful. It’s almost distracting at how bizarre and jarring it is to the viewer. If you can move past that though, the chase is fairly solid, if a bit long, and is full of some clever posturing and choreography among the varying vehicles that comes into play; the sword fight bit doesn’t quite work for me all the way though. Following this is a scene with some merciless red ants, and again the scene is pretty cool at a concept, just maybe drug out a bit to long. Once we get into the final hunt though the film straightens back up a bit and gets a lot less silly and we are left with a fast paced trek to the final destination of the story.
The acting in the film is solid across the board. Harrison is Indiana, and after a brief and awkward exchange in the films first couple minutes between Indiana and Mac (Ray Winstone) Indiana feels like Indiana again through and through. Ray Winstone does an admirable job with kind of an odd character, and most unnecessary, delivering a few laughs while keeping the audience guessing. Blanchett’s Spalko is another cool and intriguing character that unfortunately is fleshed out quite enough. We don’t get her motivation and the haze of mystery around her is almost too thick to make her a really classic villain of the franchise, but I did enjoy her and she is definitely a smart and solid adversary for Indiana and the gang. Mutt is a great sidekick for Indiana and Shia LaBeouf does a great job creating a hot headed, yet smart and funny, partner to help Indiana along the way; and the banter between the two is quite good through out.
The film is working great for close to 90% of the time and the bits that bog it down never really hurt it fatally; yes even the CGI monkeys. The other major gripe you will hear about the film is the way the CGI blends with the live action material. All of the stunt work and action is shot practically and the background plates added in and while I don’t think it was supposed to look photo realistic, it just doesn’t quite blend sometimes, though I think this could have been do to the digital projection of the film I saw, it might have been too clean.
Anyways, I have rambled enough. Is it good? Yes. Is it really good? I think so. Is it great, not quite sure? I think this film will get better on subsequent viewings and right now is on par with Temple of Doom as lesser of the series, but that really isn’t a bad thing for the caliber these movies are performing. Minus a few silly moments, Crystal Skull is a solid, fast paced, and extremely entertaining film that I will think will age well through time.

Ram Man:

It’s been 27 years since we were first introduced to Henry Jones Jr., who became a cinematic legend ….Indiana Jones. Nineteen years have flown by since his “Last Crusade”…there are a few more wrinkles but the fedora still fits and the whip still snaps! I’ve just spent two of the most enjoyable hours of the year yet watching “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”.

It’s the 1950’s and Indiana Jones’ (Ford) latest adventure begins in the trunk of a car in Roswell, New Mexico. The Nazis from the trilogy are gone replaced with those awful Russians lead by a sinister scientist Iriana Spalko (Cate Blanchette) . She has kidnapped Indiana and newcomer Mac (Winstone) and are using them to find a hidden artifact in an Army warehouse (51, if you couldn’t have guessed it already) that if possessed would provide a powerful mental weapon to the Russian Armies. This is where the fun begins with car chases and shoot outs and a cameo from an old friend (the Ark).

After escaping the KGB in Roswell, Indy is back at Marshall University where he is contacted by another cast newcomer Mutt Williams (LaBeouf) who informs him that a fellow archeologist Dr. Oxley (Hurt) would be killed if he didn’t come with him to Peru and find a crystal skull. Once in Peru, we are reunited with another old friend…..Marion Ravenwood! Marion, who had set off to find Prof. Oxley once he went missing, lands in the frying pan in true Marion fashion. This reunion is going down in cinematic history! Once the team is assembled you are in for some breathtaking effects that send the crowd reeling.

These are just a few of the many surprises in this out-of-this-world adventure for Dr. Jones. I knew going into this film that “directing royalty “(Spielberg and Lucas) can’t make a bad film when they are teamed together. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is the film of the summer and most probably the year! This one can stand with any of the first three films and might turn out to be your fave. Everyone should now have plans Thursday…drive, fly, run or tunnel your way to the theater and catch up with America’s favorite adventure hero…INDIANA JONES!

Press Reviews of ‘Indy’ aren’t all favorable …

Our own Ram Man has seen the movie and loved it, however not everyone is on board with this revival. Check out snippets of other reviews below:

“This is the Indiana Movie that you were dreading,” wrote a user who calls himself ShogunMaster. “I remember seeing the two trailers and though I was excited to see the old man in action again, I was kind of worried that they seemed to be missing ‘something’. That something was tension. During the whole of the movie, there was not a single moment that I thought our hero Mr. Jones (actually Colonel Jones as he was a hero in WWII now) was in any sort of peril or even significant inconvenience. In most cases, you were so many steps ahead of the characters that it was really just an arduous wait for them to get through it.”

from Aint It Cool News.

”After about an hour, the film abandons any pretense of story for a rush through fights, chases, machine gun fire, scorpions, quicksand, monkeys, huge snakes, and finally a secret city — part Mayan, part Aztec, certain to become both a video game and amusement park attraction…. The actors are asked to do little more than look reasonably alert.”

from Hollywood Reporter.

“Once you get past the initial reintroduction, though, it’s obvious that this fourth film in the Indy series really has no idea where to go. Except for the opening — which literally starts the film off with a bang — and a couple of dazzling chase sequences, “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” is about as unfocused and meandering as the title itself.”

from The Associated Press.

Ouch..kinda stings a little.
