SPY KIDS: ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD Goes 4D With Aromascope

DIMENSION FILMS TAKES MOVIEGOERS TO A WHOLE NEW DIMENSION

New York, NY – Dimension Films announced has that SPY KIDS: ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD is taking moviegoers to a whole new dimension in 4D with Aromascope. Cutting edge filmmaker and director of the highly popular SPY KIDS franchise, Robert Rodriguez, was one of the first to re-introduce audiences to 3D since its inception in the 1950s. After many years away from the cultural mindset Rodriguez brought back a whole new wave and rebirth of 3D into mainstream cinema in 2003 with SPY KIDS 3-D: GAME OVER. The film impressed and entertained audiences and went on to gross close to $200 million. This innovative and celebrated franchise will now be the first to introduce audiences to the new adventure of 4D where they will have 8 special opportunities throughout the movie to access the action interactively through smell. The introduction of scent in the movie going experience adds to the outrageous fun by enhancing the action, adventure and comedy to take you where no film has gone before.

With each individual admission ticket, kids and parents will also receive an Aromascope card that is free of charge with easy to read numbers outlined. As the numbers flash on the movie screen the audience will rub the corresponding number on their card. When each of the 8 aromas are unleashed you will get to experience a special moment in the film and be transported into scenes in the family adventure film. This fun added attraction takes the audience beyond sight and sound and into a symphony of scents as the movie is coming to life.

“Families are going to love the interactivity of this new addition to the movie going experience. And best of all, you won’t have to pay extra for 4D Aromascope, which will be provided to every theater whether it be 2D or 3D,” said Robert Rodriguez.

4 times the gadgets, 4 times the adventure and 4 times the dimension. Audiences can get a whiff of the bigger, better experience on August 19th when SPY KIDS: ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD IN 4D opens in theaters nationwide.

Dimension Films and Miramax To Co-Produce THE AMITYVILLE HORROR: THE LOST TAPES

Co-chairman of The Weinstein Company, Bob Weinstein, and Miramax CEO Mike Lang announced at Cannes on Sunday that Dimension Films and Miramax are joining forces to produce THE AMITYVILLE HORROR: THE LOST TAPES. Production will start this summer with a projected release date of January 27, 2012 .

Dimension also announced Sunday it has acquired rights to a screenplay for the film by the writing team of Casey La Scala and Daniel Farrands, who will direct and produce, with Jason Blum set to produce.

“I’m thrilled to be working with Bob to reinvent one of the all-time great horror franchises, and I think this new installment will really hit home with a new generation of moviegoers,” Blum said.

TWC and Miramax noted that Blum has previous experience with found footage films having produced both “Paranormal Activity” films, which have grossed close to $400 million worldwide. Jay Anson’s book “The Amityville Horror” was published in 1977 and based on the paranormal experiences of the George Lutz family. Between 1979 and 2005, the book spawned nine films.

The new pic showcases the events after the time of the original “The Amityville Horror” book and movie through found footage dating back to 1976. An ambitious female television news intern, on the verge of breaking the most famous haunted house case in the world, leads a team of journalists, clergymen and paranormal researchers into an investigation of the bizarre events that will come to be known as “The Amityville Horror,” only to unwittingly open a door to the unreal that she may never be able to close.

“We are thrilled to return to the mythology of the Amityville Horror with a new and terrifying vision that will satisfy our existing fans and also introduce an entirely new audience to this popular haunting phenomenon,” said Bob Weinstein.

THE LOST TAPES is the first film to be produced under the agreement between Miramax and The Weinstein Co. to create sequels to some of Miramax’s best-known properties. Bob and Harvey Weinstein are executive producers.
