The Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, American Pastoral, comes to Blu-ray (plus Digital HD), DVD and On Demand in Ewan McGregor’s directorial debut February 7 from Lionsgate. The engrossing story of the downfall of an American family will be available on Digital HD January 27. American Pastoral’s all-star cast includes Ewan McGregor (Trainspotting), Academy Award® winner Jennifer Connelly (Best Supporting Actress, A Beautiful Mind, 2001), Dakota Fanning (The Twilight Saga), Emmy® winner Uzo Aduba (TV’s “Orange Is the New Black”) and David Strathairn (Good Night, and Good Luck) with screenplay by John Romano (The Lincoln Lawyer). The American Pastoral home entertainment release special features include audio commentary by Ewan McGregor, a discussion with the cast about their characters and a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film. American Pastoral will be available on Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD for the suggested retail price of $24.99 and $19.98, respectively.

Ewan McGregor directs and stars alongside Jennifer Connelly and Dakota Fanning in this acclaimed film adapted from Philip Roth’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel. Seymour “Swede” Levov (Ewan McGregor), a once-legendary high school athlete, is a successful businessman married to a former beauty queen, Dawn (Jennifer Connelly). David Strathairn And Uzo Aduba Join Ewan McGregor, Jennifer Connelly And Dakota Fanning In AMERICAN PASTORAL

Lakeshore Entertainment announced additional casting on AMERICAN PASTORAL with David Strathairn as “Nathan Zuckerman,” Peter Riegert as “Lou Levov,” Uzo Aduba as “Vicky” and Valorie Curry as “Rita Cohen.”

The film adaptation, based on the Pulitzer Prize winning novel written by Philip Roth also stars Ewan McGregor, Jennifer Connelly and Dakota Fanning, with McGregor directing.

AMERICAN PASTORAL follows Seymour “Swede” Levov, a legendary high school athlete, who grows up to marry a former beauty queen and inherits his father’s business. Swede’s seemingly perfect life shatters when his daughter rebels by becoming a revolutionary and committing a deadly act of political terrorism during the Vietnam War.

AMERICAN PASTORAL’s adapted screenplay was written by John Romano (LINCOLN LAWYER) with filming scheduled for September 2015 in Pittsburgh, PA. AMERICAN PASTORAL will be produced by Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi.

Strathairn won the Volpi Cup at the Venice Film Festival and earned nominations from the Academy, Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild, BAFTA and Independent Spirit Awards for his compelling portrait of legendary CBS news broadcaster Edward R. Murrow in George Clooney’s Oscar-nominated drama Good Night, and Good Luck. He won an Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in the HBO project, Temple Grandin and was nominated for his portrayal of John Dos Passos in HBO’s Hemingway and Gellhorn. He was most recently seen in The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.

Riegert, who has starred in iconic films such as ANIMAL HOUSE, LOCAL HERO and CROSSING DELANCEY, can currently be seen on David Simon’s new HBO mini-series SHOW ME A HERO as well as Dennis Leary’s SEX&DRUGS&ROCK&ROLL.

Aduba has won both Screen Actors Guild and Emmy awards for her role in Netflix’s ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK, which also earned her a Golden Globe nomination. She will be seen next in NBC’s THE WIZ LIVE!.

Curry is known for her roles on THE FOLLOWING, HOUSE OF LIES and TWILIGHT.

Jennifer Connelly Joins Ewan McGregor In Phillip Noyce’s AMERICAN PASTORAL

Lakeshore Entertainment has cast Academy Award winner Jennifer Connelly to co-star in the upcoming Philip Roth adaptation, AMERICAN PASTORAL. Connelly joins Ewan McGregor in the Phillip Noyce directed project based on the Pulitzer Prize winning novel. Connelly will play “Dawn”, the wife of McGregor’s “Swede Levov”.

“Jennifer Connelly is one of the great actresses of our time,” stated Lakeshore CEO, Tom Rosenberg. “We always wanted her to play ‘Dawn’ in American Pastoral and we’re thrilled to be working with her.”

Fisher Stevens To Direct AMERICAN PASTORAL For Lakeshore Entertainment And Sidney Kimmel Entertainment; First Photo of STAND UP GUYS

Academy Award-winner Fisher Stevens will direct American Pastoral for Lakeshore Entertainment and Sidney Kimmel Entertainment. The project is based on Philip Roth’s Pulitzer Prize winning novel of the same name. Screenwriter John Romano (The Lincoln LawyerIntolerable Cruelty) adapted the screenplay.

American Pastoral is a pivotal story depicting the destruction of the American dream. Protagonist Seymour “Swede” Levov, a legendary high school athlete, grows up to marry a former beauty queen and inherits his father’s business. Swede’s seemingly perfect life shatters when his daughter rebels by becoming a revolutionary and commits a savage act of political terrorism during the Vietnam War.

The book is the first novel in Roth’s American postwar trilogy that also includes I Married a Communist and The Human Stain. This will mark Lakeshore Entertainment’s third project with Roth—The Human Stain was released in 2003 and Elegy (based on The Dying Animal) in 2008.

“Philip Roth is the great American author of our time,” says Lakeshore Chairman Tom Rosenberg. “Fisher shares our passion for Roth’s literature, and he is a unique storyteller with his multi-layered past in the business as an actor, producer and director.  Stand Up Guys has been a fantastic experience, and we are thrilled to work with Fisher again.”

Stevens is currently directing Stand Up Guys starring Al Pacino, Christopher Walken and Alan Arkin for SKE and Lakeshore Entertainment which Lionsgate will release. He is represented by Paradigm and Untitled Entertainment.

Lakeshore Entertainment’s Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi are producing with Sidney Kimmel. SKE President Jim Tauber and SKE President of Production Matt Berenson are executive producing. Principal photography will begin early next year.

The project marks the seventh film co-financed and co-produced by Lakeshore and SKE in the past year, including the hit Lionsgate release The Lincoln Lawyer, and the upcoming I, Frankenstein, starring Aaron Eckhart and directed by Stuart Beattie for Lionsgate to release, in addition to Adaline in pre-production with Spanish director Isabel Coixet set to direct.
