Another exciting element of the Alien: Earth marketing campaign is an immersive OOH campaign which has launched across key markets bringing the Xenomorph and other specimens to Earth for the first time. A huge 3D billboard in Times Square brings audiences face-to-face with a Xenomorph bursting out of the screen. In the heart of Hollywood, there are massive crates carrying specimens with full motion LED screens and eerie sounds of the creatures of the series. At the corner of Hollywood & Vine sits a full size Xenomorph on top of the largest crate guarding this precious, terrifying cargo. This activation wouldn’t be complete without a motion detected jump scare for those that aren’t afraid to get too close. This corner takeover is causing heads to turn for drivers and pedestrians alike.

When the mysterious deep space research vessel USCSS Maginot crash-lands on Earth, “Wendy” (Sydney Chandler) and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat in FX’s Alien: Earth.

In the year 2120, the Earth is governed by five corporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic and Threshold. Fantastic New Trailer for Noah Hawley’s ALIEN: EARTH Hits – “We’re Seeing More Xenomorph than any of These Movies.”

It’s a great time to be an ALIEN fan. A brand new trailer was released on Thursday for the highly anticipated FX’s Alien: Earth.

This is absolutely brilliant, especially the final shot – what a great trailer. Can’t wait for August 12!

In an interview with Collider, creator Noah Hawley and executive producer and director Dana Gonzales had a ton of new info about the series:

“I think we designed something that is very photographable and scary and detailed. I don’t know if some of the older movies had some of the stunt techniques that we have now, the wirework, and the fact that we can kind of fly the Xeno around and stuff like that. So it’s not so much just coming out and scaring you and having that kind of jump scare. It’s literally flying through the air. It’s chasing. There’s a lot that supports the fact that you see it, and I don’t know if those other films had that.”

While the Alien franchise has featured some top-tier visual effects over the years and Alien: Earth does involve CG in post-production, Gonzales made a point to emphasize, “We don’t have any CG Xenomorph. It’s 100% real.” He continued:

“And the Facehuggers we have, they’re all real. I don’t know how many we have, but we have many Facehuggers that do different things. So there are mostly real creatures. I think [it’s] the fact that Wētā built these incredible characters that do several things really well that we can see them longer. Even the eggs are quite sophisticated, and we can show them. I think that’s gonna be the strength of the show, especially to have eight hours of that compared to an hour and a half movie and, like you said, four minutes. I don’t know our running time of creatures, but it’s going to be quite a bit.”

“There’s a lot of Xenomorph activity going on wall-to-wall.” He also teased, “Two and 3, I can tell you, are massive episodes. One, 2 and 3 together are going to be unbelievable.”

While Gonzales wouldn’t go as far as giving us a Xenomorph count for Alien: Earth, he did promise, “We’re seeing more Xenomorph than any of these movies.” He continued:

“All the movies, if you really study them, are like, 20 frame, two seconds, they show the Xenomorph. We have huge sequences where all you’re seeing is the Xenomorph.

In addition to showing more Xenomorph, Hawley emphasized another overall goal he and the team had when incorporating the iconic creatures into their story:

“I am trying to re-mystify Alien. So much of what made that first movie and the second movie so horrifying was that every time you thought you knew what the lifecycle of this creature was, it just got worse. It was like, okay, it’s an egg, and this giant crab comes out and grabs your face, and you think, ‘I’m out.’ Then it’s like, ‘No, I’m not done.’ Now, the giant crab lays another egg inside of you that then bursts out of your chest, and you’re like, ‘Okay, game over.’ Then it’s like, ‘No, now it grows to be 10 feet tall.’ Then James Cameron added, ‘Well, who’s laying those eggs?’ But you’re never going to get an audience to be surprised by that again, and so I’ve tried to come up with ways that the show returns that sense of, ‘What’s going to happen next? That’s so gross!’”

WAMG was at SXSW in Austin for FX’s Alien: Earth immersive experience and faced down the beasts. Encountering the Xenomorphs, facehuggers (but don’t call them that…not yet) and a mysterious wreckage site, the event was the first of a series of three immersive experiences that will pop up in the months leading up to the Summer 2025 premiere on HULU.

FX’s Alien: Earth immersive experience was intense. From the moment fans step inside, they will find interactive elements and pulse-pounding thrills that bring the series to life. But beware – not all creatures survived the crash intact, a containment breach has occurred and hidden dangers lurk within.

This scary experience is a MUST for ALIEN fans and one to seek out if it comes to your city. It’s a scary journey and one that will get you ready for Alien: Earth.

Our crew was part of the Prodigy experience. The wreckage, the USCSS Maginot.

As we approached the Prodigy Corporation “Hello Recruits” was the ominous greeting by a Prodigy Corporation employee.

Visitors are scanned for a mysterious contamination, and only issued a Prodigy Corporation ID Badge once shown to be safe. We were cleared at every stage and used our badges for the various stages of our journey through the Maginot.

Visitors embarked on an exploratory mission through the ships wreckage, getting up close and personal with alien specimens in order to unearth new details from the series.

As this is the defacto first exposure to these creatures, the familiar terminologies we have gotten used to do not apply here, and will get looks of confusion from the corporate agents guiding you through the event. The suspense builds as you go further in, and are urged to find the clues to help you escape.

Once you enter the fuselage of the wreckage, recruits must use their badges for clues.

But beware of the “acid for blood.”

This is the part fans of the franchise will absolutely love… You are truly face-to-face with the creature and all you can think about is, RUN! Where’s that pulse-rifle when you need one?

As was first said in 1979’s ALIEN, “We can’t lie to you about your chances, but you have our sympathies.”

For the diehards, LV-426 is even given a nod.

Will they have pulse rifles? Maybe. Alien: Earth is set approximately two years before the events of the original Alien movie. This past summer, we learned that Alien: Romulus takes place about 20 years after the original Alien movie. Alien takes place in 2122, Alien: Romulus takes place in 2142 and Aliens takes place in 2179. During Romulus, the characters spoke about the Colonial Marines having F44AA Pulse Rifles. Could this new group of “ragtag group of tactical soldiers” possibly have the same weapons?

“this is an F44AA pulse rifle. It’s rotating breech, electronic pulse action. It’s what the Colonial Marines used.”
