Terror Is Reborn In 2015 In First POLTERGEIST Trailer & Poster

DF_13268.CR2

The creepy clown is back!

Eric Bowen (Sam Rockwell) and wife Amy (Rosemarie DeWitt) desperately try and hold on to their youngest daughter Madison (Kennedi Clements), who’s been targeted by terrifying apparitions in the first trailer for POLTERGEIST.

The new film is a contemporary take on the classic tale about a family whose suburban home is haunted by evil forces. When the terrifying apparitions escalate their attacks and hold the youngest daughter captive, the family must come together to rescue her before she disappears forever.

“They’re here” sent shivers down the spine of moviegoers in 1982 when the terrifying horror classic, directed by Tobe Hooper and produced by Steven Spielberg, was released. What made the film even more scary was the chilling score by Jerry Goldsmith.

The trailer looks tremendous and it did its job in scaring me, so I’m willing to give it a go (now I remember why I don’t like clowns).

With Jared Harris reinventing the infamous role of Tangina, played by Zelda Rubenstein (those are hard shoes to fill, especially with her final line in the original, “this house is clean”), it may be hard for the purists to get past some of the differences.

From producer Sam Raimi (EVIL DEAD), screenwriter David Lindsay-Abaire (RISE OF THE GUARDIANS) and director Gil Kenan (MONSTER HOUSE), and starring Sam Rockwell, Rosemarie DeWitt, Saxon Sharbino, Kennedi Clements, Nicholas Braun and Jared Harris, POLTERGEIST opens in 3D in theaters July 24, 2015.

It’s Oscar time! The biggest party after the show, The Governors Ball, was revealed today for the press by The Academy.

Permeating the air with imaginative dishes, master chef Wolfgang Puck showed those gathered at The Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland Center the incredible feast he’s creating for the evening.

Puck and Matt Bencivenga, chef partner of Wolfgang Puck Catering, have drawn upon vintage and contemporary Hollywood glamour to create a menu that’s both legendary and innovative. The menu will feature more than 50 scrumptious delights, from one-bite hors d’oeuvres to small-plate entrees that will be passed throughout the evening. Guests will enjoy such signature Puck favorites as smoked salmon Oscars, chicken pot pie with shaved black truffles, and mini American Wagyu burgers with aged Cheddar.

Puck also will present classic dishes re-imagined for Hollywood’s big night, including lobster “BLT”; beet latkes with pastrami duck and apple mustard; and dover sole with orange miso vinaigrette. Appealing to diverse palates will be modern vegetarian dishes featuring local organic produce, such as parsnip soup with white chocolate, pears and 24k gold; and artichokes with asparagus, fava beans, baby beets and citrus vinaigrette.

Even this chocolate reel was good enough to eat!

Academy governor Jeffrey Kurland and event producer Cheryl Cecchetto are also returning to create this year’s Governors Ball, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ official post-Oscar celebration, which will immediately follow the 87th Oscars ceremony on Sunday, February 22. The Ball’s 1,500 invited guests include Oscar winners and nominees, show presenters and other telecast participants.

Cheryl Cecchetto unveiled the décor and other ball elements, including an illuminated layered collage made exclusively for the Governors Ball.

“The artistry and glamour that have truly defined Hollywood for decades will be highlighted at 87th Oscars Governors Ball,” said Kurland. “We’ve selected the most stunning imagery from the Academy’s vast collections to set the stage for our guests. The Academy will honor and share these timeless moments of a legacy that is in our blood and truly makes us who we are.”

Starring Mark Duplass, Olivia Wilde, Sarah Bolger and Donald Glover, here’s a look at the brand new trailer for the horror film, THE LAZARUS EFFECT.

From masters of horror Blumhouse Productions- producer of THE PURGE, INSIDIOUS and SINISTER franchises – THE LAZARUS EFFECT follows a group of researchers led by Frank (Mark Duplass) and his fiancée Zoe (Olivia Wilde,) who’ve achieved the unimaginable- bringing the dead back to life. After a successful, yet unsanctioned, trial on a newly deceased animal, the team is ready to unveil their breakthrough to the world. When the dean of their university learns of their underground experiments, their project is unexpectedly shut down and their materials confiscated.

Frank, Zoe and their team (Donald Glover, Sarah Bolger and Evan Peters) take matters into their own hands, launching a rogue attempt to recreate their experiment, during which things go terribly wrong and one of their own, Zoe, is horrifically killed. Fueled by terror and grief, Frank pushes them to do the unthinkable: attempt to resurrect their first human test subject.

Initially, the procedure appears a success, but the team soon realizes something is wrong with Zoe. As her strange new persona reveals itself, the team quickly becomes stuck in a gruesome reality. LLYN FOULKES: ONE-MAN BAND Screens at Webster University this Weekend

LlynFoulkesOneManBand-header

LLYN FOULKES: ONE-MAN BAND screens at 7:30pm this Friday and Saturday (February 6th and 7th) at Webster University’s Moore Auditorium

llyn3

80-year old, L.A.-based artist Llyn Foulkes has refused to define his career within the rigid expectations of the art world and is known as the “the most famous artist you’ve never heard of.” Don’t miss Tamar Halpern and Chris Quilty’s documentary on the eccentric painter/sculptor/musician when it screens this weekend at Webster University’s Moore Auditorium (470 E. Lockwood in Webster Groves). Foulkes enjoyed fame and critical attention almost immediately upon dropping out of Los Angeles’ Chouinard Art Institute in 1959. But in the ensuing decades, he slipped into obscurity by refusing to duplicate his popular successes (particularly his rocky landscape paintings of the 1960s, and the “bloody head” portraits he turned to in the ’70s) or “play the game,” as he puts it, of flattery and glad-handing required for longevity in an increasingly corporatized art market. The filmmakers  frame their documentary around two paintings he drove himself to the brink of madness trying to complete.

llyn2

LLYN FOULKES: ONE-MAN BAND has been receiving rave reviews:

Variety wrote:

“A queasy thriller… undeniably fascinating to watch”

The Hollywood Reporter declares:

“Entertainingly introspective… An engaging tribute to an artist who has stayed true to himself… Foulkes is a joy to watch in action”.

FILM THREAT says:

“A quality look into the life and art of a tremendous artistic mind”.

Samuel Goldwyn Films has acquired all North American rights to co-writer/directors Sharon Maymon and Tal Granit’s euthanasia comedy THE FAREWELL PARTY, represented by sales agent Beta Cinema. The film screened to enthusiastic audiences and critics in the Contemporary World Cinema section at the Toronto International Film Festival and had its world premiere this past summer at the Venice International Film Festival, where it won the Venice Days’ People’s Choice award.

“A poignant, provocative dramedy…boasting a dream cast, a finely honed visual sense and superbly ironic comic timing and dialogue…” (VARIETY)

“Anyone will be moved by this tender, unexpectedly charming tale… an original work of gentle militancy.” (THR)

THE FAREWELL PARTY also won four Ophir Awards, the Israeli Academy Awards, including in the Best Actor category for acclaimed Israeli actor Ze’ev Revach, and received a total of 14 nominations, including for Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Actress.

The film is produced by Pie Films, 2Team production, in co-production with Pallas Film, Twenty Twenty Vision and United King Films.

Samuel Goldwyn Films plans a Spring 2015 release.

Sharon Maymon and Tal Granit tell a unique, compassionate and unlikely funny story of a group of friends at a Jerusalem retirement home who build a machine for self-euthanasia in order to help their terminally ill friend. When rumors of the machine begin to spread, more and more people ask for their help, and the friends are faced with a life and death dilemma.

THE FAREWELL PARTY stars Israeli actors including veteran comedian Ze’ev Revach, Levana Finkelshtein, Aliza Rozen, Ilan Dar, and Rafael Tabor.

156149.jpg_image_scaler_0x600

Sharon Maymon has collaborated with Tal Granit on the short films To Kill a Bumblebee and Summer Vacation, which was one of the ten live action short films selected this year to advance in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences voting process for the 87th Academy Awards. THE FAREWELL PARTY is their latest collaboration; the two wrote the feature film script from which the film is based “My Sweet Euthanasia,” which was selected to participate in the Talent Project Market of the Berlinale 2010, where they won the Best Pitch Award.

In addition to his work with Granit, Maymon co-wrote the feature film A Matter of Size (2009, 90 mins) with Danny Cohen-Solal and co-directed it with Erez Tadmor. A Matter of Size premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival 2009 and was the opening film of the Jerusalem Film Festival the same year. The film also won the Audience Award at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival. A Matter of Size was nominated in fifteen categories in the Israeli Academy Awards and won three of them, and it was the blockbuster film in Israel in 2009. Paramount Pictures bought the rights for the American remake of the film.

Filmmakers Sharon Maymon and Tal Granit added: “We are excited that our film, which comes from a personal experience, has touched the people at Samuel Goldwyn Films. Sharing our film with the audience of North America is a dream coming true and we are thankful for that.”

The story of Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment’s MINIONS begins at the dawn of time.  Starting as single-celled yellow organisms, Minions evolve through the ages, perpetually serving the most despicable of masters.  Continuously unsuccessful at keeping these masters – from T. rex to Napoleon – the Minions find themselves without someone to serve and fall into a deep depression.

But one Minion named Kevin has a plan, and he – alongside teenage rebel Stuart and lovable little Bob—ventures out into the world to find a new evil boss for his brethren to follow.
