supremacy

You’ll love this new film about hate! In SUPREMACY, Joe Anderson (A SINGLE SHOT, HERCULES) plays white supremacist Tully, who’s just been paroled. But his first night out could be his last. He just killed a cop. He’s on the run. And no one’s going to listen to an ex-con with the Aryan Nation. His leader (Anson Mount) just cut him loose, and as the police close in, Tully and his girlfriend (Dawn Olivieri) add home invasion and hostages to the body count. But no one counted on Mr. Walker (Danny Glover), an ex-con himself, to fight back – using his understanding of the racist mind to turn the tables on a desperate and violent man. Will it be enough to keep his family alive?

Supremacy-Movie-Review

Danny Glover (Lethal Weapon franchise), Joe Anderson (Hercules, Horns) and Dawn Olivieri (“The Vampire Diaries,” American Hustle) star in Director Deon Taylor’s (The Hustle) racially-charged thriller SUPREMACY.

supremacy-mv-7

Dana Newman of Slasher Diva says:

“SUPREMACY is by far one of the best films dealing with racism since CRASH. Danny Glover and Joe Anderson both turn in powerful performances that cut to the bone .Lela Rochon and Dawn Olivieri also give great performances. The story is simple but there is nothing simple about the film.”

Martin Tsai of The Los Angeles Times writes:

“Director Deon Taylor impressively paces the film with unrelenting tension.”

WILLIAM BUCKLEY;GORE VIDAL

BEST OF ENEMIES (July 31)

In the summer of 1968, television news changed forever. Dead last in the ratings, ABC hired two towering public intellectuals to debate each other during the Democratic and Republican national conventions. William F. Buckley, Jr. was a leading light of the new conservative movement. A Democrat and cousin to Jackie Onassis, Gore Vidal was a leftist novelist and polemicist. Armed with deep-seated distrust and enmity, Vidal and Buckley believed each other’s political ideologies were dangerous for America. Like rounds in a heavyweight battle, they pummeled out policy and personal insult—cementing their opposing political positions. Their explosive exchanges devolved into vitriolic name-calling. It was unlike anything TV had ever broadcast, and all the more shocking because it was live and unscripted. Viewers were riveted. ABC News’ ratings skyrocketed. And a new era in public discourse was born. Directed with consummate skill by filmmakers Robert Gordon and Academy Award-winning Sundance Film Festival alum Morgan Neville (Twenty Feet From Stardom), Best of Enemies unleashes a highbrow blood sport that marked the dawn of pundit television as we know it today.

From acclaimed director Antoine Fuqua (TRAINING DAY) and starring Academy Award nominated Jake Gyllenhaal (NIGHTCRAWLER, BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN) comes a story of tragedy, loss and the painful road to redemption… Billy “The Great” Hope (Gyllenhaal) is the reigning Junior Middleweight Champion whose unorthodox stance, the so-called “Southpaw,” consists of an ineloquent, though brutal, display of offensive fighting…one fueled by his own feelings of inadequacy and a desperate need for love, money and fame. With a beautiful family, home and financial security, Billy is on top both in and out of the ring until a tragic accident leaves his wife dead and sends him into a downward spiral.

His days now an endless haze of alcohol and prescription drugs, his daughter taken by Child Services and his home repossessed by the bank, Billy’s fate is all but sealed until a washed up former boxer named Tick agrees to take the bereaved pugilist under his wing so long as he agrees to his strict ethos. Relentless and utterly committed to a fighter that thinks as much as he throws punches, Tick rebuilds Billy into a new man: one that is agile, fearsome and uncompromising in the ring while thoughtful, loving and disciplined outside of it.

Now, as he works to regain custody of his daughter and mounts a professional comeback, Billy must face his demons head-on as he learns that, sometimes, your greatest opponent can be yourself.

VACATION (July 31)

The next generation of Griswolds is at it again. New Line Cinema’s VACATION, starring Ed Helms (“The Hangover” films) and Christina Applegate (the “Anchorman” films), takes the family on the road for another ill-fated adventure. The film marks Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley’s directorial debut.

Following in his father’s footsteps and hoping for some much-needed family bonding, a grown-up Rusty Griswold (Helms) surprises his wife, Debbie (Applegate), and their two sons with a cross-country trip back to America’s “favorite family fun park,” Walley World.

Rounding out the cast are Leslie Mann (“The Other Woman”) as Rusty’s sister, Audrey; Chris Hemsworth (the “Thor” films) in the role of Stone Crandall, Rusty’s irritatingly successful brother-in-law; and Skyler Gisondo (“Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb,” “Hard Sell”) and Steele Stebbins (“A Haunted House 2”), who play Rusty’s sons, James and Kevin.

Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo reprise their roles as Clark and Ellen Griswold from the classic “Vacation” comedies.

THE LOOK OF SILENCE (July)

THE LOOK OF SILENCE is Joshua Oppenheimer’s powerful companion piece to the Oscar®-nominated The Act Of Killing. Through Oppenheimer’s footage of perpetrators of the 1965 Indonesian genocide, a family of survivors discovers how their son was murdered, as well as the identities of the killers. The documentary focuses on the youngest son, an optometrist named Adi, who decides to break the suffocating spell of submission and terror by doing something unimaginable in a society where the murderers remain in power: he confronts the men who killed his brother and, while testing their eyesight, asks them to accept responsibility for their actions. This unprecedented film initiates and bears witness to the collapse of fifty years of silence.

Winner of the 2015 SXSW Audience Award: Festival Favorite.

Jake Hoffman (The Wolf of Wall Street), Nikki Reed (Twilight franchise), Thomas Dekker (A Nightmare on Elm Street), Jason Priestley (“Beverly Hills, 90210”), Gina Rodriguez (“Jane the Virgin”) and Scott Bakula (“NCIS: New Orleans”) all star in this terrifying study of mental illness and the destruction unleashed when someone finally snaps.

enter_the_dangerous_mind_still

ENTER THE DANGEROUS MIND enters the dangerous mind of Jim (Jake Hoffman) – a socially awkward EDM musician with a traumatic past, a tenuous grip on reality, and voices in his head. Music makes the voices stop and that’s what Jim wants most – to hide away in his apartment, mixing original dubstep beats as a soundtrack to the insanity of daily life. When he meets Wendy (Nikki Reed), he thinks he might finally have a shot at happiness. But as long-buried memories begin to stir and his crush turns into obsession, Jim finds himself looking into a violent abyss… and he won’t be going alone. Pulsating with raw energy and an intense electronic soundtrack, ENTER THE DANGEROUS MIND is a pitch-black psychological thriller that doesn’t let off the gas for a second as it twists to its shocking conclusion.

Enter-The-Dangerous-Mind-4

Shaun Munro of What Culture calls ENTER THE DANGEROUS MIND:

“A smart, stylish psychological thriller boosted by stellar performances and a unique engagement with its schizophrenic protagonist.”

Anton Bitel of Grolsch Film Works raves:

“Its dialectic on the possibilities of change and cure, though bleakly resolved, brings method and meaning to all the madness – and while the film is full of jarring distortions and violent moodswings, ENTER THE DANGEROUS MIND never hits a wrong note”

Frank Scheck at THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER calls ENTER THE DANGEROUS MIND:

“A variation on Psycho set to a propulsive beat …”

ENTER THE DANGEROUS MIND has a runtime of 88 minutes and is not rated. The Blu-ray from Well Go USA Entertainment has a 1080p Resolution with an original aspect ratio: 2.35:1. The Audio options are English 5.1 DTS-HD MA and English 2.0 Dolby Digital

Jennifer Connelly Stars In Trailer And Poster For ALOFT

SONY-ALOS-01Onesheet032615.indd

Check out the first trailer and poster for the upcoming film ALOFT.

As we follow a mother (Jennifer Connelly) and her son (Cillian Murphy), we delve into a past marred by an accident that tears them apart. She will become a renowned artist and healer, and he will grow into his own and a peculiar falconer who bears the marks of a double absence.

In the present, a young journalist (Mélanie Laurent) will bring about an encounter between the two that puts the very meaning of life and art into question, so that we may contemplate the possibility of living life to its fullest, despite the uncertainties littering our paths.

2 aloft

From filmmaker Claudia Llosa (THE MILK OF SORROW), the director says ALOFT,

“journeys through the worlds of art and nature to explore the meaning of healing and death as it forces us to confront the immensity of such concepts as love, order, chaos and faith, which at times are impossible to understand through rational thinking alone.

Does art heal? Is nature a variable? Aristotle said that humans feel pain when they act against their nature.

In the end, we learn that understanding our own nature is the most difficult task in life and that, perhaps, art can help us by offering the possibility of catharsis and sublimation.”

ALOFT opens in the US May 22nd.

Sylvester Stallone Confirms Writing Of New Rambo & Releases First Photo From CREED

creed first look

Actor/director Sylvester Stallone has released some exciting new info, and photo, about his upcoming films via his TWITTER and INSTAGRAM pages.

The title for the fifth movie is RAMBO: LAST BLOOD.

Opening on November 25, 2015, CREED explores a new chapter in the “Rocky” story and stars Academy Award nominee Sylvester Stallone in his iconic role and Michael B. Jordan as the son of Apollo Creed.

Adonis Johnson (Jordan) never knew his famous father, world heavyweight champion Apollo Creed, who died before he was born. Still, there’s no denying that boxing is in his blood, so Adonis heads to Philadelphia, the site of Apollo Creed’s legendary match with a tough upstart named Rocky Balboa.

Once in the City of Brotherly Love, Adonis tracks Rocky (Stallone) down and asks him to be his trainer. Despite his insistence that he is out of the fight game for good, Rocky sees in Adonis the strength and determination he had known in Apollo—the fierce rival who became his closest friend. Agreeing to take him on, Rocky trains the young fighter, even as the former champ is battling an opponent more deadly than any he faced in the ring.

With Rocky in his corner, it isn’t long before Adonis gets his own shot at the title…but can he develop not only the drive but also the heart of a true fighter, in time to get into the ring?

CREED also stars Tessa Thompson (“Selma,” “Dear White People”) as Bianca, a local singer-songwriter who becomes involved with Adonis; Phylicia Rashad (Lifetime’s “Steel Magnolias”) as Mary Anne Creed, Apollo’s widow; and English pro boxer and former three-time ABA Heavyweight Champion Anthony Bellew as boxing champ “Pretty” Ricky Conlan.

Ryan Coogler directs from a screenplay he wrote with Aaron Covington, based on characters from the “Rocky” series written by Sylvester Stallone. The film is being produced by Robert Chartoff, Irwin Winkler, Charles Winkler, William Chartoff, David Winkler, Sylvester Stallone and Kevin King Templeton. Joining Coogler behind the scenes are director of photography Maryse Alberti (“The Wrestler”) and costume designer Emma Potts (“127 Hours”), as well as his “Fruitvale Station” team: editors Claudia Castello and Michael P. Shawver; production designer Hannah Beachler; and composer Ludwig Göransson.

Disney Announces It Will Co-Produce and Co-Finance Steven Spielberg’s THE BFG

TheBFG

As production gets underway in Vancouver, The Walt Disney Studios announced it will co-produce and co-finance Steven Spielberg’s THE BFG. This marks the three-time Academy Award winner’s first time directing a Disney-branded movie.

THE BFG is the exciting tale of a young London girl and the mysterious Giant who introduces her to the wonders and perils of Giant Country.

Previously announced cast include three-time Tony Award winner Mark Rylance who will play the titular “Big Friendly Giant” and newcomer Ruby Barnhill as Sophie. They are now joined by Bill Hader, Jemaine Clement, Michael David Adamthwaite, Daniel Bacon, Chris Gibbs, Adam Godley, Jonathan Holmes, Paul Moniz de Sa and Olafur Olaffson, all cast as giants. Buckingham Palace has also found its residents with Penelope Wilton being cast as The Queen and Rebecca Hall as Mary, the Queen’s maid.

The Disney/Amblin/Reliance production in association with Walden Media will open in U.S. theaters on July 1, 2016, the year that coincides with the 100th anniversary of Roald Dahl’s birth.

Spielberg_Steven

“In more than 40 years of making movies, I have been on the producing end of a number of films for The Walt Disney Company, but never as a director,” said Steven Spielberg. “It is a special joy to be in the director’s chair as we start ‘The BFG,’ alongside my long-time friends and film collaborators Kathy Kennedy, who introduced me to this project, Frank Marshall and Melissa Mathison. Together with them and Disney, there are many reasons why I am so excited about this joint venture.”

“With Steven Spielberg at the helm, ‘The BFG’ will undoubtedly capture the minds of children and adults alike – as Roald Dahl’s original stories and many of Steven’s own films have done for decades,” said Alan Horn, Chairman, The Walt Disney Studios. “The team at Disney has tremendous respect for the filmmakers, and we’re thrilled to join with them to make what will be a spectacular picture.”

“This partnership speaks to the spirit of storytelling and the kinds of movies that we make here,” said Michael Wright, CEO of DreamWorks Studios. “Over the years, we have enjoyed a fruitful collaboration, and we couldn’t be more excited to be working with Disney in this expanded capacity on THE BFG.”

Based on the beloved novel by Roald Dahl, “The BFG” (Big Friendly Giant) was published in 1982 and has been enchanting readers of all ages ever since. Dahl’s books, which also include “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” “James and the Giant Peach,” “Matilda” and “Fantastic Mr. Fox,” are currently available in 58 languages and have sold over 200 million copies worldwide.

Steven Spielberg will direct the film adaptation based on a script by Melissa Mathison, who last teamed with Spielberg on “E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial.” Spielberg, Frank Marshall and Sam Mercer will produce while Kathleen Kennedy, John Madden, Michael Siegel and Kristie Macosko Krieger are on board as executive producers. Adam Somner is a co-producer.

The Walt Disney Studios is distributing the film in the U.S. and several international territories while Mister Smith Entertainment will oversee distribution in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Reliance will distribute the film in India.

Disney and Walden Media previously produced “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe,” “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian,” and “Bridge to Terabithia” together.
