The Magnificent Meyersons follows an ordinary but complicated New York City family as they discover on one extraordinary day that although life—and family—can sometimes shock you … it can also lead to miraculous new places. Here’s the trailer:

It’s a day in New York City just like any other, as the Meyersons deal with the ordinary concerns and petty annoyances that preoccupy all families. Matriarch Terri (Kate Mulgrew) is an oncologist, whose husband (Richard Kind) abandoned the family years earlier, leaving her to raise overachiever Roland (Ian Kahn); Daphne (Jackie Burns), who struggles with her own marriage; Daniel (Daniel Eric Gold), now a reluctant rabbinical student; and Susie (Shoshannah Stern), an ambitious young real estate agent in a lesbian relationship with Tammy (Lauren Ridloff).

But the Meyersons’ lives are suddenly upended by dramatic revelations both personal and universal. Conversations about faith, fate and the meaning of it all that come to a head at a family dinner with an unexpected guest. As memories of their complicated past collide with a new and uncertain future, the Meyersons must navigate lingering heartbreak and shifting alliances as they are forced to reevaluate everything that they thought was true.

Documentary About Improv Guru Del Close – FOR MADMEN ONLY Available Now on Apple TV and Altavod

Utopia is pleased to announce that FOR MADMEN ONLY, a feature documentary that places improv guru Del Close front and center, is set for release on Altavod & Apple TV in the USA and Canada on July 27th, 2021. Here’s the trailer:

Synopsis: Comedy guru Del Close, mentor to everyone from Bill Murray to Tina Fey, sets out to write his autobiography for DC Comics. As he leads us through sewers, mental wards, and his peculiar talent for making everyone famous but himself, Close emerges as a personification of the creative impulse itself. He’s a muse with BO and dirty needles, offering transcendence despite (or because of) the trail of wreckage behind him.

In this at once hilarious and poignant look at the life of the godfather of improv comedy, Del Close, Festival alum Heather Ross (Girls on The Wall)  tracks the trailblazer from “human torch” sideshow act to his influential and contentious rise at The Second City, mentoring such greats as Bill Murray, John Candy, and Tina Fey, among many others. Inspired by his semi-autobiographical DC Comics anthology Wasteland, the film delves into the inner workings of Close’s wacky mind through inspired reenactments, archival clips, and interviews with such devotees as Bob Odenkirk, Tim Meadows, and Adam McKay. The result is a lively, multi-layered picture of a man and his mission, riding on the edges of genius and despair, creativity, and insanity.

Heather Ross said of her second feature documentary, “We knew that to make the definitive movie about this icon/unknown, we would need to take the same kind of creative risks that he was famous for.  As someone known for breaking down genres and experimenting with form—not to mention playing fast and loose with the truth – we decided to apply the same ideas to our film and try to break new ground with the documentary genre. This resulted in constructing a set of scenes imagining the creative process behind WASTELAND, Del’s comic book autobiography.”

Small Town Monsters Follows Leads for Extraterrestrial Life ON THE TRAIL OF UFOS: DARK SKY Lands August 3rd on VOD. This Latest Doc Investigates Connections Between Unidentified Objects and Energy Sources. Here’s the trailer:

Cryptid documentarian Seth Breedlove and paranormal researcher Shannon LeGro continue their search for the truth behind the enigma of unidentified flying objects in the latest Small Town Monsters release: On the Trail of UFOs: Dark Sky. Dark Sky explores the UFO topic from the point of view of LeGro; a podcast host and author, and focuses more heavily on eyewitness accounts than typical alien fare. “This project excited us because we were able to look into reports from real people in real places that still connect what they’re seeing to what is being talked about in the mainstream media today,” Breedlove said. “Particularly, this idea of why these objects or lights in the sky might actually be here on earth and how they might be closer connected to us than we think.” On the Trail of UFOs: Dark Skywill be available to purchase or rent on August 3rd on a number of platforms from 1091 Pictures, including iTunes, Amazon Prime Video, Vudu and FandangoNOW.


On the Trail of UFOs: Dark Sky, is a follow-up to 2020’s On the Trail of UFOs: Season 1″, an episodic series created by Breedlove and LeGro and distributed by 1091. “On the Trail of UFOs” explored the long history of the topic and became one of the most-viewed independent UFO documentary series in history, racking up nearly 10 million views on Amazon, alone. Dark Sky goes beyond the history of the subject, exploring modern-day accounts, with additional filming taking place as recently as early May.

Dark Sky explores decades of reports of unusual craft and lights seen in the skies, and delves into some of the more overlooked aspects of the subject such as men in black, the connection between UFOs and energy sources and encounters with a mysterious being called “Cold”. The new project took LeGro and Breedlove to West Virginia, allegedly a hotbed for UAP activity for over a century, where they investigated a series of sightings around the northern panhandle of the state, and found a link between sightings and energy sources that has gone overlooked.
