Bel Powley Stars In A ROYAL NIGHT OUT Trailer

Every girl deserves a “girls night out” – even the future Queen of England.

A ROYAL NIGHT OUT is a charming, Cinderella in reverse type film that follows one evening in the lives of princesses Elizabeth and Margaret Windsor on V-E Night, May 8th, 1945, respectively played by Sarah Gadon (Maps to the Stars, Dracula Untold, The Amazing Spider-Man 2) and Bel Powley (Variety’s 10 Actors to Watch 2015, The Diary of a Teenage Girl).

Premiering at the 2015 Hamptons International Film Festival, A ROYAL NIGHT OUT will open in New York City and Los Angeles on December 4th, 2015 and additional cities throughout December.

As the whole of London is on the streets to celebrate the official end of World War II in Europe, it is known that the young princesses, aged 19 and 14, slipped out of the palace to join the communal euphoria, returning to Buckingham Palace just after midnight.

Directed by UK director Julian Jarrold (Becoming Jane, Brideshead Revisited), A ROYAL NIGHT OUT is an affectionate ‘what-if’ story about the adventures Elizabeth and Margaret had on the night that brought the whole of London together.

The film also stars two-time Golden Globe Award nominee Rupert Everett (My Best Friend’s Wedding), two-time Academy Award nominee Emily Watson (War Horse, The Theory of Everything, The Book Thief) and Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction, Delivery Man).

A film that every Anglophile will flock to see, read beforehand The Queen: A Revealing Look at the Private Life of Elizabeth II by Douglas Keay. The 1992 book is a fascinating look at the longest reigning British monarch.

Bryan Cranston, Helen Mirren And Diane Lane Talk TRUMBO In New Featurette

“Dalton Trumbo was an American patriot, but his defense of our freedom of speech made him a traitor in some people’s eyes,” director Jay Roach says. “One of the great questions that the film asks is how we as a country got to a place where it seemed right to send someone like Trumbo to jail and prevent him from writing.”

In the 1940s, Dalton Trumbo (Bryan Cranston) is one of the highest paid screenwriters in the world, penning movie classics including the Oscar-nominated KITTY FOYLE and THIRTY SECONDS OVER TOKYO.

A fixture on the Hollywood social scene, and a political activist supporting labor unions, equal pay and civil rights, Trumbo and his colleagues are subpoenaed to testify in front of the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) as part of its sweeping probe into communist activity in the U.S. Trumbo’s refusal to answer the congressmen’s questions lands him in a federal prison and earns him the eternal enmity of powerful anti-communist gossip columnist Hedda Hopper (Helen Mirren).

For the next 13 years, all of the major Hollywood studios refuse to hire Trumbo for fear of being associated with his perceived radical political views. Forced to sell his home and ostracized by friends, colleagues and neighbors, Trumbo struggles to feed his family by writing mostly low-budget movies under assumed names.

But he never gives up fighting for what he believes in. Ultimately, Trumbo prevails when star Kirk Douglas and director Otto Preminger each put the screenwriter’s real name on screen in their respective 1960 blockbusters, SPARTACUS and EXODUS, effectively bringing the blacklist era to an end.

An astonishing portrait of an often forgotten chapter of American history, TRUMBO is directed by Jay Roach (“Game Change,” Meet the Parents) from a script by John McNamara (“Aquarius,” “Prime Suspect”), based on the book Dalton Trumbo by Bruce Cook.

Sylvester Stallone, Michael B. Jordan and Director Ryan Coogler Talk ‎CREED Movie In New Featurette

Adonis Johnson (Jordan) never knew his famous father, world heavyweight champion Apollo Creed, who died before he was born. Still, there’s no denying that boxing is in his blood, so Adonis heads to Philadelphia, the site of Apollo Creed’s legendary match with a tough upstart named Rocky Balboa.

Once in the City of Brotherly Love, Adonis tracks Rocky (Stallone) down and asks him to be his trainer. Despite his insistence that he is out of the fight game for good, Rocky sees in Adonis the strength and determination he had known in Apollo—the fierce rival who became his closest friend. Agreeing to take him on, Rocky trains the young fighter, even as the former champ is battling an opponent more deadly than any he faced in the ring.

Shawver and Claudia Castello; production designer Hannah Beachler; and composer Ludwig Göransson.

STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS Trailer Debuts On The Great Wall of China

Poised to have the biggest opening weekend in movie history, STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS is already selling out tickets worldwide. Fandango crashed and Twitter exploded after the new trailer was released on Monday evening.

Expected to break box office records, J.J. Abrams’ film will open in cinemas on December 18, 2015.

“The Force” is also strong in China! The new trailer debuted on the Great Wall of China on the evening of October 20.

The grand campaign entitled “The Force Awakens on the Great Wall” was organized by the Walt Disney Company on the Juyongguan section of the Great Wall of China, bringing together numerous media representatives and fans to experience “The Force.”

The premiere of the official Chinese trailer for STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS brought the event to an exciting climax with a spectacular scene. Five hundred iconic Stormtroopers from the Star Wars saga appeared on the wall by surprise, and four Chinese characters, pronounced in English as “yuan,” “li,” “jue,” “xing” and meaning “The Force Awakens,” shone brightly on top of four beacon towers along the Juyongguan section of the wall.

The entire evening’s events brought great cheer and applause from fans, heightening expectations for the global release of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” at the end of this year.

Lucasfilm and visionary director J.J. Abrams join forces to take you back again to a galaxy far, far away as Star Wars returns to the big screen with STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS.

The film stars Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Max Von Sydow. Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk are producing with Tommy Harper and Jason McGatlin serving as executive producers. The screenplay is by Lawrence Kasdan & J.J. Abrams and Michael Arndt.

Rian Johnson will direct STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII. The film is slated for release on May 26, 2017. Colin Trevorrow will direct STAR WARS: EPISODE IX, which is set for release in 2019.

Tom Cruise Begins Filming JACK REACHER: NEVER GO BACK In New Orleans

Paramount Pictures and Skydance Media today announced that principal photography has commenced on JACK REACHER: NEVER GO BACK, starring Tom Cruise (the MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE franchise, EDGE OF TOMORROW) and directed by Edward Zwick (THE LAST SAMURAI, BLOOD DIAMOND).

Production will take place in New Orleans. The film is set for release on October 21, 2016.

The new film, a sequel to 2012’s JACK REACHER, is based on author Lee Child’s 18th book in the bestselling Jack Reacher series, Never Go Back. The film is written by Richard Wenk (THE EXPENDABLES 2, THE EQUALIZER”), Marshall Herskovitz (LOVE AND OTHER DRUGS, THE LAST SAMURAI) & Zwick.

There’s nothing better than silent films accompanied by live music and I’d go as far as saying there’s nothing better than silent films accompanied by the Rats and People Motion Picture Orchestra. And I’ll go even farther by saying that there’s nothing better than the 1922 silent spooker NOSFERATU accompanied by the Rats and People Motion Picture Orchestra which is an event that will be taking place Wednesday night, October 28th at Urban Chestnut Brewing Company’s Midtown Brewery & Biergarten (3229 Washington Ave, St. Louis 63103). Doors open at 6pm and the movie unspools after dark!

I’ve seen NOSFERATU with live music before and have even shown a 25-minute cut of the film at my old monthly Super-8 Movie Madness show with live keyboard accompaniment (by the talented Linda Gurney), but seeing the full-length version near Halloween on the big screen at Urban Chestnut with an original score performed the Rats and People is not something you want to miss.

The Rats and People is a treasure and St. Louis is lucky to have them here. I’ve seen them perform with silent films several times, often at The St. Louis International Film Festival, and usually at Webster University’s Moore Auditorium and it’s always a stunning good time at the movies. I’ve seen Rats and People play along to some Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton at the SLIFF/KIDS film fest, and Harold Lloyd’s THE FRESHMAN. At last year’s St. Louis International Film Festival, I had the privilege of orally translating the Dutch subtitles of the 1912 version of IVANHOE while they played. The Rats and People Motion Picture Orchestra will be accompanying the1927 collaboration THE UNKNOWN on November 13th as part of this year’s St. Louis International Film Festival (read an article about that HERE), but this NOSFERATU event October 28^th will show you how talented these musicians are and will be a great opportunity to see their unbeatable combination of Silent film and live music.

Released in 1922, NOSFERATU was essentially an unofficial adaptation of Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel. Disguising the film under different names and details, this Dracula story portrays Count Orlock negotiating a move to Bremen in Germany with realtor Thomas Hutter, and like the plagued-diseased rats of history, Count Orlock is a harbinger of death, bringing a great darkness with him in as he obsessively pursues the neck of Hutter’s wife and brings death and menace to the people of Bremen.

Masterfully directed by F W Murnau, NOSFERATU features timeless images of the nocturnal blood sucker gravitating through the shadows – the epitome being the iconic shot of the shadow ascending the stairs, as one with the dark – an image that will send chills down your spine. Max Schreck’s Count Orlock grotesques all with his rat-like physical demeanor and long, bony fingers ending in talon-like nails – white-washed pale face – pointed ears – dark, sunken eyes – and hideous fangs centered in the very front of his mouth. Schrek’s Orlock takes his rightful place as one of the scariest movie monsters to grace celluloid. Count Orlock is a vampire you won’t be accustomed to seeing if you have been a regular viewer of the shirtless escapades present in the ‘Twilight’ films. NOSFERATU is not exactly heart-warming, buff or sexy. More, a pale stick insect which has just crawled out of a rat hole. Edward Cullen and family like transparent architecture, with their expensive, modern real estate. Nosferatu prefers his abode to be a beautifully haunting, Bavarian castle. It’s all so cool. Bram Stoker’s widow sued the producers of NOSFERATU and the resulting ruling ordered all copies to be destroyed. But, like the movie’s iconic monster, it seems the film was destined for immortality. At least one print survived and NOSFERATU has lived on as the best silent horror film in cinema history. Don’t miss this screening!

Jessica Chastain Begins Filming THE ZOOKEEPER’S WIFE

Production has begun in the Czech Republic on THE ZOOKEEPER’S WIFE, adapted from Diane Ackerman’s nonfiction book of the same name which was based on the diaries of Antonina Żabiński. Focus Features will release the film domestically; Universal Pictures International has distribution rights to the film in the U.K., France, Germany, Scandinavia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe.

Two-time Academy Award nominee Jessica Chastain stars in the title role, as Antonina Żabiński. THE ZOOKEEPER’S WIFE director Niki Caro’s previous films include Whale Rider and North Country.

THE ZOOKEEPER’S WIFE dramatizes a real-life story of heroism. The time is 1939. The place is Poland, homeland of Antonina Żabiński (portrayed by Ms. Chastain) and her husband, Dr. Jan Żabiński (Johan Heldenbergh, a European Film Award nominee for the Academy Award-nominated The Broken Circle Breakdown). The Warsaw Zoo flourishes under Jan’s stewardship and Antonina’s care. When their country is invaded by the Nazis, Jan and Antonina are forced to report to the Reich’s newly appointed chief zoologist, Lutz Heck (Golden Globe Award nominee Daniel Brühl of the upcoming Captain America: Civil War). The Żabińskis covertly begin working with the Resistance – and put into action plans to save the lives of hundreds from what has become the Warsaw Ghetto, with Antonina putting herself and her children at great risk.

The cast of THE ZOOKEEPER’S WIFE also includes Michael McElhatton (Game of Thrones); Iddo Goldberg (Defiance, The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler); Goran Kostic (In the Land of Blood and Honey); and Israeli actresses Shira Haas, who stars in Natalie Portman’s feature directorial debut A Tale of Love and Darkness, and Efrat Dor, acclaimed for her work in the television series Achat Efes Efes, Asfur, and Mermaids.

The screenplay adaptation is by Angela Workman (War Bride). The movie is being produced by Jeff Abberley, through his Scion Films; Kim Zubick and Diane Levin, who initiated the project; and Electric City Entertainment’s Jamie Patricof.

Academy Award nominee Suzie Davies (Mr. Turner) is the production designer on THE ZOOKEEPER’S WIFE; Andrij Parekh (Show Me a Hero) is the director of photography; and Bina Daigeler (Only Lovers Left Alive) is the film’s costume designer.

ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW Midnights at The Tivoli the Next Two Weekends

They come wearing bustiers, corsets, and great gouts of eyeliner. And some women get into the act too! THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW, the longest-running midnight and audience partici-(SAY IT!)-pation movie of them all, will play at Landmark’s Tivoli Theater in St. Louis this weekend at midnight (October 23rd and 24th) and the following weekend (October 30th and 31st) also at midnight . The Tivoli does this every year and the shows are often sell-outs, so get your tickets early! The Tivoli does a great job of making ROCKY HORROR an interactive movie experience with a live “Shadow Cast” known as The Samauri Electricians who perform scenes during the movie and of course the audience is encouraged to respond to the on-screen action as well. The street party always starts early as attendees dressed as Frank N. Furter, Riff Raff, Magenta, and the gang line up outside the Tivoli hours before showtime and We Are Movie Geeks will be there to snap pics and help get the audience riled up. The Tivoli encourages folks to attend in costume, but does not allow outside props, but they do sell an essential “prop bag” for only three dollars. The bag contains rice, toilet paper, Glow Sticks, Time Warp Fliers, Rubber Gloves, Noisemakers, Confetti, and everything you’ll need even if you’re a ROCKY HORROR “Virgin” experiencing the fun for the first time. I used to see ROCKY HORROR at the (now-defunct) Varsity theater down the street in the late 1970′s and not much has changed in 30+ years, my only observation being that this new generation of fans is even less inhibited and likes to show off more skin (not that I’m complaining – they’re in better shape!) We hope to see everyone at the Tivoli (6350 Delmar Boulevard) the next two weekends
