AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR -Review

Wow. Ten years. Really? Must be since they incorporated the fact into their logo, so it’s gotta’ be true. So, time really zips by when you’re having fun. And fun is the often overused word when it comes to the prolific (19 and counting) output of Marvel Studios. Like many great achievements, people scoffed at first. That comic book juggernaut, nicknamed the “House of Ideas” by Stan “the man” Lee decades ago, thought the best way to bring their big staple of characters and properties to cinemas would be to make the films themselves. Or at least they’d make sure their beloved heroes would be portrayed with respect to the source material, and would delight their millions of fans across the globe. That scoffing came from movie reporters and analysts who thought this was pure folly. After all, Marvel’s biggest stars, the X-Men and Spider-Man, were off-limits, since their cinematic exploits were licensed to Fox and Sony, respectively. Plus the subject of their first film was Iron Man, a “B-lister”, and the star was an actor whose career had seen better days, Robert Downey Jr. ( the punchline for many late night talk show hosts). I wonder how those nay-sayers enjoyed their “humble pie” (à la mode, perhaps). All the Marvel Studios films have opened at number one with most in the top ten box office “grossers” of their release years (and a few like MARVEL’S THE AVENGERS and now BLACK PANTHER in the all time top ten). As “Phase Three” of the Marvel Cinematic Universe” (MCU) comes to a close, multiplexes will be packed once more to experience the longest, most ambitious, character-filled superhero epic yet. Face front (toward the screen, true believers) for AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR.

This will be one of the toughest review to write, since I’ve got to avoid all the delights and surprises in store. Talk about “walking on eggshells”! Well, I’m not giving too much away by saying that the film begins soon after the end of last year’s THOR: RAGNAROK, when the starship carrying the last survivors of Asgard, guided by Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston), encounters a massive space vessel. As suspected, it is the battle cruiser of the mad Titan Thanos (voice and motion-capture by Josh Brolin). He and his aides, which he refers to as his “children”, are looking for several “infinity stones” which, when inserted into slots in a gauntlet (or glove for reg’lar folks), will make Thanos all-powerful and nearly unstoppable as he brings “order” to the cosmos. After a brief battle, the master sends his kids off to acquire the other gems. One duo takes a smaller ship to NYC to grab one that is guarded and worn by the sorcerer supreme, Dr, Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) as the center of the “eye of Agamotto”. Luckily for the doc, he is joined in battle by his trusted aide Wong (Benedict Wong), along with Tony Stark AKA Iron Man (Downey), his apprentice/intern Peter Parker AKA Spider-Man (Tom Holland) and a frustrated Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), whose “performance issues” thwart his AKA. Another Thanos pair goes after the stone imbedded in the forehead of the “synthoid” called the Vision (Paul Bettany) who is hiding out with Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olson) in Scotland, after breaking out of a maxium security facility at the end of 2016’s CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR. But where are the other wanted ex-Avengers: Steve Rogers/Captain America (Chris Evans), the Falcon/Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), and Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson)? Meanwhile, in the deep reaches of space, the sextet of the stars, the Guardians of the Galaxy, literally bumps into Thor. When the Asgardian tells them of Thanos’s plans, Gamora (Zoe Saldana), who was raised by the Titan as his adopted daughter, knows that her “pop” is headed to the planet Knowhere. Thor hops in a pod ship along with Rocket Racoon (Voice of Bradley Cooper) and teenage Groot (voice of Vin Diesel) and speeds off to the planet of a weapons maker, while Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) pilots the main ship, the Milano to help Gamora, Drax (Dave Bautista),and Mantis (Pom Klementieff) take on the mad Titan. After many fights and escapes, all the heroes gather their forces inone location, the country of Wakanda, and fight to save the universe alongside King T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) and Steve’s old pal James “Bucky” Barnes (Sebastian Stan). But is Thanos too mighty for the “Earth’s mightiest heroes”?

Looks like there’s no egg-shell pieces between my toes, so let’s get into some specifics. Hey, how about this cast? Of course most of the ensemble have played these characters many times, so it’s often like slipping on an old comfortable pair of slippers (for Downey it’s seven features and a cameo as Stark, for Evans as good ole’ Cap it’s five and two). Despite the horde of heroes, some actors are given the time to show us a different side to them. Downey’s still got the genius swagger, though it’s tempered with a mounting, sweating anxiety. He’s a man who now seems to be living the nightmares that have plagued his nights for years (at least six). Cumberbatch is exuding more confidence, along with a different swagger, as the wondrous wizard, using the skill and courage from the last act of his solo flick. Same’s true for Holland, who, in this film’s final moments, reminds us that Peter is still a sensitive young lad (still a lot of boy in the Spider-Man). The film’s romantic heart, in addition to Quill and Gamora, is the unique romance between the Vision and the Scarlett Witch. Bettany’s artificial man is more caring and compassionate than most men made of flesh and blood. It’s a wonder that the longing looks from the formidable Olsen don’t melt his circuitry. As mentioned, there’s lots of heat on that space ship, but it’s mixed with dread. Saldana must finally confront her past, knowing that she may be consumed by it. Her later scenes with Thanos allow her to really flex her dramatic chops. Special mention should be made of Ruffalo who balances pure fright and comic frustration with supreme skill.

And in the opposite corner (from the good guys), is a villain every bit worthy of this wave of wonder men and women. Thanos is a true marvel, expertly crafted by an army of incredibly talented craftspeople and artists (and certainly “leagues” beyond another “baddie” from last year’s multi-hero flick from the “Distinguished Competition”). This seven foot purple-hued behemoth has real weight and brawn (we can imagine the planets buckle beneath his boots) as he swats away his foes as though they were annoying gnats. Yes, he looks like a monster, but his humanity breaks through, thinks in large part to the excellent work of Brolin. We see the unpredictable brutality, the amused glint in his eye before delivering a fatal blow. But in the later scenes and flashbacks the brute displays a tenderness and an aching, regretful sorrow. Andy Serkis has cultivated a reputation for being the premiere motion capture actor in his work as Gollum and Caesar (from the PLANET OF THE APES series). Brolin’s Thanos is a most worthy successor. As for his “children”, Carrie Coon intimidates as the towering dark-eyed Amazon-like Proxima Midnight. And Tom Vaughn-Lawlor is pure smirking, sinister savagery as the effete telekinetic Ebony Maw. Oh, and I don’t want to leave out the always superb Peter Dinklage as …oops, don’t want to give that away…it’s one of the film’s most delightful surprises.

Thanos as drawn by his creator Jim Starlin

And what one director could keep all these “plates spinning”? Well. there’s two men keeping this entertainment express on track, the Russo Brothers, Joe and Anthony. Here they’re building on the terrific work they accomplished in the last two Captain America films. We know they can map out those multi-hero battles, but they somehow pace (really it just zips along) the story to allow for many intimate sequences, truly fleshing out the drama and bringing the laughs (don’t be put off by the somber marketing, the jokes are there). The Russos are the first film makers since the talented James Gunn to work with the Guardians, who pivot seamlessly from last year’s VOLUME 2 (it helps that Gunn’s one of the executive producers). Somehow everyone gets a moment to shine (amazing, even though this is the longest MCU flick at two and a half hours). Much of the credit there must also go to another impressive team: screenwriters Christopher Marcus and Stephen McFeely (this is their fifth MCU effort). As I said, they haven’t neglected the humor, an element essential to the Marvel franchises (other comic book flicks are finally wiseing up to this), but this is darker story than we’ve really seen before. Sure, the Earth’s been in real jeopardy, but with the fearsome Thanos and company at play, we get that it’s for “all the marbles”. The scars, physical and psychological, may never fully heal. That’s even reflected in the incredible score from prolific film composer Alan Silvestri. The biggest “game changer” may be the last act which, the producers have been fairly upfront about this, has an EMPIRE STRIKES BACK feel. The studio’s detracters can’t complain about them sticking with a tried (or trite) and true formula. It’s big, but never bloated. More importantly it makes us eager to see the Marvel-ous movies that will follow the truly epic AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR. Nuff said!

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 CD Score From Composer Tyler Bates Available On April 28

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: Awesome Mix Vol. 2 Track List (PRNewsfoto/Marvel Music/Hollywood Records)

Marvel Music/Hollywood Records have released the digital versions of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: Awesome Mix Vol. 2 songs-only album and GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 original score album by composer Tyler Bates (“Guardians of the Galaxy,” “John Wick Chapter 2,” “Watchmen”).

The film opens in U.S. theaters on May 5, 2017.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 is filled with great action, humor and performances, but it is also infused with a new mixed tape and soundtrack, a dynamic that resonated deeply with audiences in the first film as evidenced by the success of the soundtrack album.  The Grammy-nominated “Guardians of the Galaxy” soundtrack reached No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, becoming the first soundtrack album consisting entirely of previously released songs to top the chart. The album was certified Platinum by the R.I.A.A.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: Awesome Mix Vol. 2 is a collection of 14 songs and once again, music plays an important role in the telling of the story. In an exclusive interview for Rolling Stone Magazine, director James Gunn provides commentary for each track on the album.

Director James Gunn explains, “We had Awesome Mix Volume 1 last time, and this time we have Awesome Mix Volume 2. It was so important that it’s actually part of the film’s title this time around. As most people know, Quill’s mom made the first tape for a slightly younger boy, and she made the second tape for a slightly older boy. So, in many ways the songs reflect the story.”

Continuing, he adds, “The songs are a little bit deeper in some ways; a little bit less pop in some ways. Some of the choices are a bit more eclectic; some of the http://www.industrialinfo.com/choices are a bit more popular. But we have a real amazing group of songs that, like in the first movie, I wrote into the script. They are a part of the storytelling. Each song is very specific to the scene where it’s placed.”

On the importance of the score in the film, which often gets overlooked in a film heavy with popular songs, James Gunn adds,  “The one thing that is underappreciated is how important Tyler Bates’ score is to the first film,” says the director.  “We still use the score from the first movie while shooting this film and it doesn’t get the respect it deserves because it gets so overshadowed by the soundtrack. There’s some beautiful score on that first soundtrack, and I know that the music we’ve written for the second film is even better than what we did for the first film. Tyler Bates has absolutely outdone himself, and we’re giving something very special to people with the music in this film, both the pop songs and the actual score.”

Gunn and composer Tyler Bates worked on the score during pre-production so that they would have some of the major score themes worked out before the shoot began. This allowed Gunn, the actors and the camera crews to work with the music that will end up being used in the final film.

Read our interview with Bates from 2014 HERE.

An array of artistic influences, from John Coltrane to Chopin, and the rock operas “Hair” and “Jesus Christ Superstar, set the course for Los Angeles-born Bates’ musical signature that often combines disparate components that become indigenous within his compositions for film, television, video games and new media. His ability to create new worlds of atmospheric soundscapes fused with traditional orchestra led to groundbreaking scores for Zack Snyder’s “Dawn of the Dead” and “300” films, and most recently, James Gunn’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” Marvel franchise.

“John Wick 2” and “The Belko Experiment,” both scored by Tyler Bates, exceeded box-office expectations and garnered rave reviews. Bates just completed work on “24 Hours to Live,” starring Ethan Hawke, directed by Brian Smrz. He is currently working on Emilio Estevez’s “The Public,” and James Cox’s “Billionaire Boys Club.” Bates’ next film release is “Atomic Blonde,” starring Charlize Theron, directed by David Leitch.

His current TV projects include the Marvel/Netflix series, “The Punisher,” written and directed by Steve Lightfoot, and Genndy Tartakovsky’s “Samurai Jack,” for Adult Swim.

This July 2017, Bates will embark on a world tour with shock-rocker Marilyn Manson, as lead guitarist, to celebrate the release of Manson’s forthcoming album “SAY 10,” which like Marilyn Manson’s “The Pale Emperor,” was co-written and produced by Bates. The duo created the title song “Cupid Carries a Gun,” for WGN’s “Salem,” which Bates also scored, as well as songs for both John Wick films.

What you put out into this world will always come back to you, but it never comes back how you predict. Taking fatherly advice is not in Joe Coughlin’s nature. Instead, the WWI vet is a self-proclaimed anti-establishment outlaw, despite being the son of the Boston Police Deputy Superintendent. Joe’s not all bad, though; in fact, he’s not really bad enough for the life he’s chosen. Unlike the gangsters he refuses to work for, he has a sense of justice and an open heart, and both work against him, leaving him vulnerable time and again—in business and in love.

Driven by a need to right the wrongs committed against him and those close to him, Joe heads down a risky path that goes against his upbringing and his own moral code. Leaving the cold Boston winter behind, he and his reckless crew turn up the heat in Tampa. And while revenge may taste sweeter than the molasses that infuses every drop of illegal rum he runs, Joe will learn that it comes at a price.

WAMG invites you to enter for the chance to win TWO (2) seats to the advance screening of LIVE BY NIGHT on TUESDAY, JANUARY 10 at 7PM in the St. Louis area.

SDCC 2016 : GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Vol. 2… And Why Ravagers Rule!

LEVEL-UP_7.19.16

James Gunn and Kevin Feige were ready to treat the Hall H audience to some fun as the closing act of the Marvel panel. Gunn came out with an incredible amount of energy… stoked to be back, and with the fans. If there is one thing that you should know about Gunn, is that he is incredibly grateful for his fans. What you see is what you get. That energy and excitement is real. How do I know? I’m lucky enough to call him a friend. This isn’t a humble brag. He deserves the praise of being an honest, kind, and humble creator. (Someone hide this from him though… Shh!)

At the start of his panel, the room was stormed by Ravagers that were there to do nothing more than heckle the crowd… as well as the panel. Sean Gunn, who has done an incredible job of wearing various hats throughout GUARDIANS, was joined by a wide array of talented actors/comedians such as Stephen Blackehart and Steve Agee, actor/musician Jimmy Urine, actor/director/goth/ass David Yarovesky (A.KA. Yarvo), and stunt man/crazy person who jumps out of planes and gives me complete anxiety with every video, Mike “Rooftop” Escamilla. One of the [many respectable/awesome… Again, hide this from him] things that Gunn does in his films is include some of his friends… which any fan should have figured out by now.

After a bit of footage, which included Baby Groot, Rocket, Yondu and his fancy new shark fin hawk, Kurt Russell announcing that he is, indeed, the father of Star-Lord, and a very short glimpse at Sylvester Stallone… Michael Rooker came out in full Yondu grab, joining Gunn, Feige, the Ravagers, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Dave Bautista, Elizabeth Debicki and Pom Klementieff to talk about the film. Chris Hardwick was right, by the way… Rooker did bring Yondu cookies to a party, and they were delicious. See photo below…

Check out the panel here:

(Also, sorry for the shaky footage at times… The press pit was a bit hard to navigate!)

The panel was taken over by the Ravagers from GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2, and Kevin Feige announced the brand new Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout! attraction at Disney California Adventure, followed by a surprise appearance from returning cast members Chris Pratt (Peter Quill), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Michael Rooker (Yondu) and new additions Kurt Russell (Ego), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Elizabeth Debicki (Ayesha) alongside director James Gunn. They treated fans to exclusive footage from the film.

STAR TREK BEYOND – Review

startrekbeyond

The multiplex has been all about a certain science-fiction feature film franchise of late. I’m speaking of all the hoopla last December with the release of STAR WARS EPISODE VII: THE FORCE AWAKENS (and it’s started up again for the stand alone flick ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY). And the year before that, 2014, the big buzz was about the new planet-hoppin’ series from Marvel Studios, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY (a sequel touches down next May). Somehow, the grand-daddy (or maybe the older uncle) has been neglected. Star Trek has been drifting in the cinema cosmos for over three years. In 2009 Paramount Studios recruited J.J. Abrams to reboot the films with younger versions of the characters from the original TV show (and first seven features). Four years later they were back, with Abrams directing once more, for STAR TREK: INTO DARKNESS. Soon after its release, he was whisked into that galaxy far, far away. So, what of Kirk and company? Abrams has stayed on as a producer, but the directing reins have been handed off to a film maker best known for another very successful film franchise, Justin Lin, the man behind most of those FAST & FURIOUS flicks. Can Lin handle starships after years with “muscle cars”. The result, STAR TREK BEYOND, beams onto big screens today.

As we revisit Captain James T. Kirk (Chris Pine), he’s had a trying day at the office (his office being outer space). After a failed diplomatic mission with a testy alien race, he’s feeling “burnt out”. Three years into that fabled “five-year mission”, he feels his time on the starship Enterprise has become “episodic” (clever!). Neither a cocktail (secret scotch) with the ship’s MD, ‘Bones’ McCoy (Karl Urban), nor his upcoming birthday (he’ll be older than his father, the late Captain George Kirk, ever was) can cheer him up. Maybe a stopover at the Federation station Yorktown will help. Upon arrival, we see that the romance between Spock (Zachary Quinto) and Uhura (Zoe Saldana) has soured. While the crew enjoys “shore leave”, Kirk meets with Commodore Paris (Shohreh Aghdashloo) to discuss his request to be promoted to vice-admiral and allow Spock to helm the Enterprise. But before any of this can happen, Yorktown security encounters a desperate alien in a battered space vessel. Her ship was attacked and her crew were taken prisoner on a planet protected by an unstable nebula. Kirk immediately volunteers his ship and crew. But things go badly when they are engulfed by a swarm of small hostile fighters. After a very rough landing, the crew is separated with many captured by the brutal mastermind known as Krall (Idris Elba), who is assembling a weapon that can destroy all life on the Federation’s united planets.

With the third outing, this talented cast slips into this iconic roles like sliding into a pair of comfy ole’ slippers. Mush of that pressure from the 2009 reboot is gone along with a need to mimic the original players. Pine tones down the swagger (not the stud of the galaxy here) to give us a hero at a crossroads, unsure of his future until duty steers him into “hero” mode. Kirk is a decisive man of action,  almost a father figure to a crew that seems more like an extended family. Of course he’s got two brothers to help shoulder the burden. Quinto’s Spock learns to accept “illogical” humans more this time around, clueing us into his sly amusement via a raised eyebrow. This is evident as he frustrates the delightful Urban as the constantly agitated and worried “country” doctor. Happily the two are paired up for much of their time on the hostile planet, letting us enjoy this new interpretation of a classic comic “team”. Saldana is tender (in her romance with the unsteady Spock) and very tough, often rescuing her would-be rescuers. Simon Pegg uses his superb comedy timing to convey the fear and confusion of the pessimistic master engineer Scotty. John Cho projects an air of confidence as the cocky “space jockey” (maybe trying to bluff himself more than the captain). And the late, great Anton Yelchin is all youthful enthusiasm as he recites lotsa’ pseudoscience jargon at near light speed. He’ll be missed on the next “mission” (Abrams has said that the role will not be recast). As for the new additions, Sofia Boutella (the razor-legged hit-woman of KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE) is fierce and formidable as the exotic warrior Jaylah, an escaped planet prisoner who aids Mr. Scott. These impressive heroes need an equally impressive villain, and Elba superbly fills the bill as the brutish overlord Krall. An air of danger engulfs him and his many victims, as Krall drains the life out of the captured, like an unstoppable alien vampire (shades of LIFEFORCE!), as he spits out threats concerning the most hated Federation (the story’s big mystery).

Director Lin keeps the action racing along (a F&F callback!) making for a brisk two-hour action epic. The main problem may be that action, as most of the space battles are cut in such a frenetic fashion, that we often have problems following the flow and direction of the sequences. At least he’s not emulating Abram’s penchant for “light flares”, although many shots could use a bit more illumination. Another distraction is the constant camera movement through every opening of the ships and settings, like a “GoPro” camera strapped to a souped-up drone. We’re careening down a hallway, then up a wall, and now we’re upside-down (for mere seconds). It’s too often disorienting and the serviceable 3D doesn’t help, even in the bright sunlight of Yorktown, an M.C. Escher influenced shiny metropolis The true strength of this film is the original script by Doug Jung and a multi-tasking Mr. Pegg (now a true “geek god”). While the last entry was shackled to (one of the best of the film series) STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN, this story can soar with no ties to former flicks or TV episodes. Perhaps the greatest part of this franchise (although the other “star” series and the Marvel Studio films come close) is the sense of family, the close-knit bond between these characters. The stellar menaces aren’t as interesting or as compelling as the interplay between this talented ensemble. Their affection for each other and their roles comes through with every glance, even as they’re dodging debris and laser blasts. It’s not all good-natured “joshing”, though. There are reflections on mortality that will make even the most casual Trek fan misty eyed. It’s the true human (and Vulcan) emotions that stick with us more than dozens of piranha-like missiles. Much better than the previous adventure, STAR TREK BEYOND reminds us why this little “failed” TV show has been part of our culture for fifty years. Here’s to many more “stardates”.

Varèse Sarabande will release the STAR TREK BEYONDMusic From The Motion Picture digitally worldwide on July 22, on CD July 29 (U.S. and Canada) and rest of the world on August 5, 2016. The album features original music by Michael Giacchino (ZOOTOPIA, STAR TREK, STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS).

Star Trek Beyond, the highly anticipated next installment in the globally popular Star Trek franchise, created by Gene Roddenberry and reintroduced by J.J. Abrams in 2009, returns with director Justin Lin (The Fast and the Furious franchise) at the helm of this epic voyage of the U.S.S. Enterprise and her intrepid crew. In Beyond, the Enterprise crew explores the furthest reaches of uncharted space, where they encounter a mysterious new enemy who puts them and everything the Federation stands for to the test.

“To me it feels like an episode of the original series, but on a much grander scale. The crew is now on their five-year mission embarking on a completely new emotional journey than we have previously seen, ” said Giacchino.  “It’s been a chance to create a new musical landscape for the film that reflects both hope and exploration.”

Composer Michael Giacchino has credits that feature some of the most popular and acclaimed film projects in recent years including Zootopia, Inside Out, Jurassic World, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. The Incredibles, Ratatouille, and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. Giacchino’s 2009 score for the Pixar hit UP earned him an Oscar®, a Golden Globe®, the BAFTA, the Broadcast Film Critics’ Choice Award and two GRAMMY® Awards.

Giacchino began his filmmaking career at the age of 10 in his backyard in Edgewater Park, New Jersey, and eventually went on to study filmmaking at the School of Visual Arts in NYC. After college, he landed a marketing job at Disney and began studies in music composition, first at Juilliard and then at UCLA. From marketing, he became a producer in the fledgling Disney Interactive Division where he had the opportunity to write music for video games.

After moving to a producing job at the newly formed DreamWorks Interactive Division, he was asked to score the temp track for the video game adaptation of The Lost World: Jurassic Park. Subsequently, Steven Spielberg hired him as the composer and it became the first PlayStation game to have a live orchestral score. Giacchino continued writing for video games and became well known for his Medal of Honor scores.

Giacchino’s work in video games sparked the interest of J.J. Abrams, and thus began their long-standing relationship that would lead to scores for the hit television series Alias and Lost, and the feature films Mission Impossible III, Star Trek, Super 8 and Star Trek Into Darkness.

Additional projects include collaborations with Disney Imagineering on music for Space Mountain, Star Tours (with John Williams) and the Ratatouille ride in Disneyland Paris. Giacchino also was the musical director of the 81st Annual Academy Awards®. His music can be heard in concert halls internationally with Star Trek, Star Trek Into Darkness and Ratatouille films being performed live-to-picture with a full orchestra.

Star Trek Beyond, directed by Justin Lin, marks Giacchino’s third film in the franchise, and will be released this summer. Upcoming projects include Colin Trevorrow’s The Book of Henry and his first Marvel film, Dr. Strange, helmed by Scott Derrickson.

Giacchino serves as the Governor of the Music Branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and sits on the advisory board of Education Through Music Los Angeles.

Paramount Pictures presents STAR TREK BEYOND in theaters, REAL3D and IMAX 3D on July 22, 2016. Varèse Sarabande will release the STAR TREK BEYONDMusic From The Motion Picture digitally on July 22, on CD July 29 (U.S. and Canada), and August 5, 2016 (rest of the world).
