Have Your Say in WAMG’s MUPPETS Hall of Fame!

Jim Henson may have moved on to the big Muppet Show in the sky, but his legacy lives on. His magic will soon be renewed for a whole new generation in theaters beginning Friday, November 23rd.

We Are Movie Geeks wants to honor Jim Henson and his Muppet family in our own way, so we are establishing our own We Are Movie Geeks’ THE MUPPETS Hall of Fame.

We realize The Muppets are loved by all, so we’re not going to limit the selection process to within our own geek ranks, like how sports writers decide athletic hall of famers. No, we’re making this an open, democratic process and asking all of you to submit your votes.

The Muppets Hall of Fame will consist of the Top Ten favorite Muppets, as voted by you, our readers and fellow Muppet-maniacs. Simply place your vote as a comment at the bottom of this article, along with a brief statement explaining why that Muppet is your favorite. This can be a memory, a personal anecdote, or whatever comes to mind regarding your pick. The explanation is optional, but if you participate, yours may be quoted in the Muppet Hall of Fame!

The Icing on the Cake: In addition to having your Muppet love plastered online for all the world to read, one lucky reader will be randomly selected to win a MUPPETS Prize Pack, consisting of a poster, a t-shirt, and a pair of sunglasses!

Here are the rules of the voting process:

  • Anyone can vote! Just register (free) on wearegoviegeeks.com to access the comments section.
  • You may only vote ONCE! Don’t try any sneaky, Florida-style voting tricks. If you do, we’ll know!
  • Only official Jim Henson Muppets are eligible. No fan-made Muppets, or characters from Sesame Street, Fraggle Rock, etc. Yes, we are well aware that Jim Henson was behind some other great characters, but we want to keep this pure to The Muppets.

FACEBOOK USERS AND MOVIEGOERS DECIDE

ON HOST CITY FOR “THE OTHER PREMIERE”

In anticipation of the nationwide release of Columbia Pictures’ The Other Guys, starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg, in theaters August 6th, the film will make its World Premiere in New York City on August 2nd. But the fun won’t stop there.

The movie will have another premiere — “The Other Premiere” — and moviegoers can help decide where it will be. Moviegoers can go on Facebook at www.facebook.com/otherguysmovie and vote in a poll to decide which Other City will host The Other Premiere. Ferrell and Wahlberg will attend the red carpet event in the winning city on August 5th.

Commenting on the announcement, Adam McKay, director of The Other Guys, said,

“We’ve all had those moments when we’ve had to watch some other guy be the cool guy. But your city can be the cool city. Get on Facebook and vote, and we’ll bring The Other Premiere to you.”

Film’s Synopsis: 

In THE OTHER GUYS, NYPD Detectives Christopher Danson and P.K. Highsmith (Dwayne Johnson and Samuel L. Jackson) are the baddest and most beloved cops in New York City . They don’t get tattoos – other men get tattoos of them. Two desks over and one back, sit Detectives Allen Gamble (Will Ferrell) and Terry Hoitz (Mark Wahlberg). You’ve seen them in the background of photos of Danson and Highsmith, out of focus and eyes closed. They’re not heroes – they’re “the Other Guys.”

But every cop has his or her day and soon Gamble and Hoitz stumble into a seemingly innocuous case no other detective wants to touch that could turn into New York City ’s biggest crime. It’s the opportunity of their lives, but do these guys have the right stuff?

Today is the day, today history will be made one way or another. I am not going to ask you to vote one way or another, nor am I going to push anyone down your throat (OBAMA!). I am going to ask everyone to go out and take part in one of the greatest things about America, getting to elect our next President of the United States. Also, before you head out, look up some stuff… don’t just trend vote. Make sure you know who and what you are voting for.
