Michael Myers to be Sans Mask for Most of ‘H2’

Hey, everybody.   Remember this pic?

When we first showed you this pic, I told you that I had my doubts as to how much what we see here was going to play into the film.   Zombie even came out and said Tyler Mane could hide the beard within the jumpsuit and behind the mask.

Well, today the truth comes out.   Ryan Rotten of Shock Till You Drop is currently doing a set report on ‘H2,’ filming in Georgia.   He spoke with makeup effect artist, Wayne Toth, and Toth had this to say:

“That’s Michael’s new look for a lot of the film. Fans will be shocked. They seem pretty responsive to it. But it’s like anything else, as long as you’re doing something cool, people get it.”

Evidently, ‘H2’ picks up two years after the events in Zombie’s first ‘Halloween.’   Michael has been living the life of a mountain man.   This is no joke.

Toth continued:

“There are a couple different versions of the mask, but none of them are the same mask from the first film. He wanted to take them a step further, even though one of them is basically supposed to be the last mask. We’ve changed it anyway. Then towards the end of the film is the current version of the mask which is a lot different from any of them we’ve seen. People are going to be surprised when they see it. It’s going to thrown the Myers fans for a loop.”

Of course, we will probably get our first glimpse of those new masks in the next couple of weeks, as the teaser for ‘H2’ is scheduled to be attached to printed of ‘Crank: High Voltage’ hitting theaters on April 17th.

This is all just more weird news from an already weird-sounding film.   My faith in Zombie and in the ‘Halloween’ franchise is holding, but it is getting more and more difficult with each new piece of information.

Potential ‘H2’ Poster Hits the Web

h2-art

What you see here is not an official entry into the final marketing for Zombie’s ‘Halloween’ follow-up. Â  It is a potential final poster, but it has not been selected by Dimension to be released in theater lobbies.

Regardless, I really like the design. Â  There hasn’t been much use of the pumpkin in ‘Halloween’ marketing since the original ‘Halloween 2,’ and this design uses them creepily and effectively.

Shock till you drop passed the above poster along, which was created by The Refinery, the same company that put together ‘H2’s teaser poster. Â  When an official, final poster for ‘H2’ comes out, we’ll let you know. Â  Until then, enjoy this leaked contender.

Weird ‘H2’ Set Pics, Weird ‘H2’ News, ‘H2’ is Going to Be Weird

Week 1 of filming is done on Rob Zombie’s ‘Halloween’ follow-up, tentatively titled ‘H2’.   Still not sold on that title, but that’s not the weirdest thing about this film.

That first pic really has me scratching my bald head.   Is that Tyler Mane in white-face and a Grizzly Adams-esque beard?   Not too sure what Zombie is going for with this look.   Hopefully this really doesn’t have much to do with the actual film, and we’re reading too much into the picture.

In other weird news, actor Daeg Faerch, who played the young Michael Myers in Zombie’s ‘Halloween’ has stated on his blog that he will not be in the film.   Note, young Michael Myers will be in the film, it just won’t be played by Faerch.

“Although I was contracted to reprise the role of young Michael Myers in the upcoming H2 after filming briefly on the set in GA, I am to be recast due to my increased height.”

‘Halloween’ wasn’t the best redux of the franchise that could have been made, but this sequel is just getting weirder and weirder.   We’ll have to wait and see if Zombie can pull this one out.
