Trailer for Duplass Bros’ CYRUS

CYRUS is the new comedy from the Brothers Duplass, Jay and Mark, who have brought us such incredible treats as THE PUFFY CHAIR, HUMPDAY and BAGHEAD. Starring John C. Reilly, Jonah Hill and Marisa Tomei, CYRUS is about a lonely loser (Reilly) who happens to attract the beautiful Molly (Tomei) while embarrassing himself at a party. The two begin to hit it off until John meets Molly’s grown, but slightly immature son Cyrus (Hill). The movie looks hilarious, but with a dramatic flair, great music and that wonderful mumblecore feel that is present in so many of the Duplass Brothers films. The trailer for CYRUS is below… Enjoy!

Teaser for IRONCLAD is here

Apparently they have created a teaser trailer out of the first 2 weeks of shooting which is what you will see below. Its nothing amazing, but it does get you excited for what they have in store with the rest of the film. For those of you that don’t know, IRONCLAD is directed by Jonathan English (MINOTAUR, NAILING VIENNA) and stars Paul Giamatti, James Purefoy, Brian Cox, Mackenzie Crook, Jason Flemying, Derek Jacobi and Kate Mara. Here is what we have as far as synopsis goes:

A ragtag group of Knights Templar hold out for months against the hard-fought siege of Rochester Castle in the thirteenth Century. Set in the time of King John’s signing of the Magna Carta treaty, the group struggles against the King to defend the freedom of their country.

We also know that Paul Giamatti is playing King John in the film…outside of that details are pretty bare. You can see the footage below thanks to /Film:

KICK-ASS Hit Girl RED BAND Clip/Trailer Thing!

The more I see of KICK-ASS (coming this April from Matthew Vaugh), the better this flick looks! The film screen last weekend at AICN‘s BUTT-NUMB-ATHON (to celebrate the birthday of EIC Harry Knowles) and the reception was phenomenal. Devin Faraci from CHUD even hailed it as “the single best Western action film [he’s] seen in decades” and that is enough for me to see this film the first chance I get!

What we got today, was a new RED BAND trailer/clip featuring the young Hit Girl (apparently played wonderfully by Chloe Moretz) in which we get a glimpse of the joyous visceral action that she is involved in. Her father in the film, Big Daddy (played by Nicolas Cage) has trained her to be an assasin and “kill the bad guys.” If this is what we are looking forward to, then count me 150% in!!

Thanks to Empire for providing the embedded clip! Check it out and leave your thoughts in the comments field!

FROZEN Trailer

When I first read the plot synopsis for Adam Green’s FROZEN, I was hooked. This is a premise that you can really get into.

Plot:

On a chilly winter night, three skiers huddle together on a chairlift, confused as to why their ride to the summit suddenly stops. The sting of the icy wind worsens when the floodlights power down, leaving them stranded in the dark. As they wait for help, the reality of the nightmare hits them. The ski resort has just closed, abandoning the group stranded high above the mountain slopes in an oncoming snow storm. With ominous howls echoing through the surrounding woods, they will need to make some tough decisions in order to survive. Writer/director Adam Green skillfully guides this real-world thriller, pushing three college students to confront their natural fears of the dark, cold, heights, and beyond, to see how far a human is willing to go to survive. With bone-chilling performances by Kevin Zegers, Shawn Ashmore, and Emma Bell, Frozen continues horror’s time-honored tradition of scaring audiences away from their favorite recreational activities.

Sounds cool eh? So now that you read that, check out the trailer below! I am really digging where this movie is heading. Hear some more thoughts from us on tomorrow’s live podcast! FROZEN hits theaters on February 5th 2010

Trailer for SHREK FOREVER AFTER has arrived…

shrek4th

Well for all of you that cant get enough Shrek in your life, we have a trailer for the final chapter in the franchise(or at least they claim). SHREK FOREVER AFTER comes out May 21st 2010, and you can see the exclusive trailer on Apple. Here is the synopsis:

Shrek (Mike Myers) has become a domesticated family man. Instead of scaring villagers away like he used to, the grown-reluctant ogre agrees to autograph pitch forks. Longing for the days when he felt like a “real ogre,” Shrek is tricked into signing a pact with the smooth-talking dealmaker, Rumpelstiltskin (Paul McCartney). Shrek suddenly finds himself in a twisted, alternate version of Far Far Away, where ogres are hunted, Rumplestiltskin is king, Donkey (Eddie Murphy) is an intellectual, Lord Farquaad (John Lithgow) is still alive, and Shrek and Fiona (Cameron Diaz) have never met. Now, it’s up to Shrek to undo all of Rumpelstiltskin’s mischief in the hopes of saving his friends, restoring his world, and reclaiming his One True Love and family.

THE SORCERER’S APPRENTICE Trailer!

Apprent

This evening hosts the premiere of the first trailer for the film The SORCERER’S APPRENTICE. My thoughts? Nic Cage has awesome hair yet again, Alfred Molina looks to be an outstanding villain, Jay Baruchel should be a joy and well, I think this looks like a fun summer film, which it is. The film is directed by Jon Turteltaub, who previously directed Cage in the NATIONAL TREASURE films and also helmed classics such as COOL RUNNINGS and 3 NINJAS. The script is penned by Carlo Bernard and Matt Lopez, both of whom haven’t done anything spectacular. I will say that I am digging the vibe of the film. I saw a brief reference to the original story near the end of the trailer with the magical mops and pails. Good times! The plot synopsis for the film is as follows:

An average college student (Jay Baruchel) is reluctantly recruited to work for a sorcerer (Nicolas Cage), who gives him a crash course in the art and science of magic to prepare him for a battle against the forces of darkness in modern Manhattan.

The kind folks over at Apple are hosting an HD version of the trailer, so follow the screenie and check it out!

Poster and Trailer for THE WARLORDS

thewarlordsmovie

I know what you’re thinking… “I thought Jet Li was done with making epic, period martial arts films.” Well, apparently not. Actually, this film debuted in China all the way back in 2007, so maybe he is done. Regardless, THE WARLORDS stars Jet Li, Andy Lau and Takeshi Kaneshiro in an epic tale of three legendary warlords who vie for control of the empire. Below is the poster for THE WARLORDS, courtesy of IGN.com — and, below that is the trailer. It is certainly worth a look!
