New NINE Poster Tells Us What To Do

Judging by this new poster for NINE, brought to us today by the fine folks over at Cinematical, it isn’t hard to understand that paparazzi is an Italian word.  This poster brings style, glitz,  glamor, and even Daniel Day-Lewis wearing shades to fend off the flashes.  Doesn’t hurt either that he’s surrounded by four, gorgeous women, a few of whom may walk away with a couple of awards for this film.

Of course, I do wish they would have left off the “THIS HOLIDAY” bit off of the tagline.  Simply “BE ITALIAN” is cool enough, and it doesn’t need to direct our attention towards the release date.

Other than that minor  quibble, this thing is pretty smooth.  Hopefully the film is half as smooth.  With all these names attached to it, how can it not be?

NINE hits theaters on December 25th.

WAMG First Look: ‘Nine’

With principal photography just beginning, The Weinstein  Co. has released the first set photo from Rob Marshall’s ‘Nine’. Marshall, who previously directed 2002’s  Oscar winner, ‘Chicago’,   is back at with the ladies  in his adaptation of the Tony Award-winning musical.  Nicole Kidman, Marion Cotillard, Dame Judi Dench, Penà ©lope Cruz, Kate Hudson, Fergie and Sophia Loren. The only one you cant see is Daniel Day-Lewis – his back is to the camera.

‘Nine’ is the story of Guido Contini, an Italian filmmaker who is balancing his latest movie project with  the many  women in his life, including his wife, mistress, and even his dead mother. ‘Nine’ is due in theaters next December 11, 2009….we’ll see if lightning strikes twice for another  Marshall musical  during next year’s Oscar season. Very excited about this one!

Rob Marshall’s NINE just got Fergalicious!

Rob Marshall has added an established singer to his new musical “Nine”. Stacy “Fergie” Ferguson has joined the Oscar-studded cast as Saraghina, a sexy nymph sent to seduce Daniel Day-Lewis’ character. This is Fergie’s follow up to her big screen debut as the singer on the “Poseidon”. Filming is set to start in October over in the UK.

Kate Hudson joins the cast of ‘Nine’

Harvey Weinstein is announcing he has added Kate Hudson to the cast of Rob Marshall’s adaptation of the hit Broadway musical “Nine”. Hudson is joining an Oscar alumni list of actors that include: Daniel Day Lewis, Marion Cotillard, Nicole Kidamn, Judi Dench and Sophia Loren.

Inspired by Fellini’s classic film “8 1/2,† “NINE† is a sultry and enchanting musical. Day-Lewis stars as Contini with his wife “Luisa Contini† played by Cotillard, his sultry mistress “Carla† played by Cruz, Kidman as his film star muse “Claudia Graham†, Judi Dench in the role of “Lily† – his confidant and costume designer, Sophia Loren as his mother or “Mamma. Hudson is set to play “Stephanie” a young American fashion journalist. Nine, when it was on Broadway in 1982, took home 5 Tony awards.

This marks the reunion of Marshall and Weinstein who last worked together on the smash Broadway adaptation   “Chicago” (170 million domestic,300 million worldwide).  Nine is set to start production this fall and due to hit the theaters on December 11, 2009.
