X-MEN: FIRST CLASS Cast Photo Revealed

IGN has this first look at James McAvoy, January Jones and the rest of the X-Men prequel cast from 20th Century Fox’s X-MEN: FIRST CLASS. So what’s everyone think about the pictures? I can’t wait for the first trailer!

Synopsis:

X-Men First Class charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events. Before mutants had revealed themselves to the world, and before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Not archenemies, they were instead at first the closest of friends, working together with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop Armageddon. In the process, a grave rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.

Directed by Matthew Vaughn, the film stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Rose Byrne, Jones, Kevin Bacon, Nicholas Hoult, Jennifer Lawrence, Caleb Landry Jones, Lucas Till, Edi Gathegi, Jason Flemyng, Oliver Platt, Morgan Lily, Zoe Kravitz and Bill Bilner. X-MEN: FIRST CLASS will be in theaters on June 3, 2011.

X-Clusive X-MEN: FIRST CLASS Possible Casting News

WAMG has what is some possible casting news on X-MEN: FIRST CLASS.

On Saturday night, during the “V.I.P. Meet and Greet” for the ‘Celebrate TWILIGHT Night: ECLIPSE’ here in St. Louis, Jack Houston “Royce King” of TWILIGHT: ECLIPSE told us,

“I just recently returned from England from a screen test for X-MEN: FIRST CLASS.”

Prior to the evening’s event, Houston met with our own Melissa Howland during the press junket and enthusiastically spoke of his upcoming work on Al Pacino’s WILDE SALOME and Scorsese “Boardwalk Empire” from HBO, but said nothing about an audition. Unfortunately, before we could ask him for which role he specifically auditioned for, Huston’s security team whisked him away to the next event.

With producers Bryan Singer and Lauren Schuler Donner still casting the remaining roles for X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, Huston could indeed find himself being part of another big franchise. So X-MEN fans…which big character from the upcoming film is left to cast?

As Showbiz411.com reported, Michael Fassbender (Magneto) will join James McAvoy (Professor Xavier) and Benjamin Walker (Hank “Beast” McCoy) in director Matthew Vaughn’s upcoming blockbuster about Marvel’s superhero team of X-Men in their youth. According to Deadline Hollywood, Alice Eve is now in negotiations to play Emma Frost. From 20th Century Fox, X-MEN: FIRST CLASS has a scheduled start date of August 2010 and is due to hit theaters on June 3, 2011.

Early Progress on X-MEN: FIRST CLASS Casting

In case you’ve been wondering what Marvel has in store as the next chapter in the X-Men movie universe, the word is that X-MEN: FIRST CLASS will be that film, taking the super-hero team of mutants back to their earlier days. The project is set to be directed by Matthew Vaughn. He’s the guy that brought us the awesome film adaptation of Mark Millar’s KICK-ASS comic book.

Two big bits of casting news hit recently… first, Showbiz411 reports that the up and coming, Juilliard-trained young sensation in New York theatre Benjamin Walker is being cast as a young Beast, the character played by Kelsey Grammer in X-MEN 3: THE LAST STAND. Walker’s biggest roles in film to date have been in 2004’s KINSEY and Clint Eastwood’s 2006 war film FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS.

Second, and this is potentially a real biggie… Deadline New York reports that Fox has officially offered Michael Fassbender (INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS) the role of a younger Magneto in X-MEN: FIRST CLASS. This would be great, however, he’s also being sought after to play a villain in the next SPIDER-MAN film, so he wouldn’t be able to do both. Talk about tough decisions!

If Fassbender accepts Fox’s offer, he’ll join the existing cast of Aaron Johnson (KICK-ASS), Andrew Garfield (THE IMAGINARIUM OF DR PARNASSUS), Jack Huston (OITLANDER), Eddie Redmayne (THE OTHER BOLEYN GIRL) and James McAvoy (WANTED) who is set to play a younger Charles Xavier. X-MEN: FIRST CLASS is scheduled to hit theaters on June 3, 2011.

CENTURION Trailer Unleashes a Little Hell

Anyone else remember how kick-ass the opening battle sequence in GLADIATOR was?   Remember the Roman soldiers taking on the Germanic barbarians in those gray woods, the flaming bombs shattering against trees and raining liquid fire?   Yeah, I’m totally doing the Chris Farley thing here, but that was pretty damn cool.

How about a full length feature film with that same style?   I say if anyone can pull it off it’s Neil Marshall, and, if this new trailer for CENTURION, courtesy of IGN, is any indication, that concept may be hitting our theaters very soon.   What’s more, it shows McNulty (Dominic West) and Lt. Archie Hicox (Michael Fassbender) kicking some serious Pict tail.

Check it out right here:

Granted, it might not be as epic as GLADIATOR.   That’s what happens when you’ve got the guy who did THE DESCENT and DOOMSDAY at the helm instead of the guy who did ALIEN or BLADE RUNNER.   Nonetheless, CENTURION looks to feature some very cool action, and you know with Marshall at the wheel, this ship isn’t going to go anywhere near the PG-13 territory.   Thoughts of another KING ARTHUR can be dispelled right, friggin’ now.

You can also head over to IGN for the HD version of the trailer.   CENTURION is set to hit UK theaters in April.   No US release date has been announced as of yet.

Neil Marshall’s ‘Centurion’ Behind the Scenes Video

centurion

Say what you want about it, Neil Marshall’s ‘Doomsday’ was a badass film.   In my eyes, the guy is 3 for 3, and I can’t wait to see what he has in store for us with ‘Centurion.’

Set in AD 117, ‘Centurion’ tells the story of the legendary Roman Ninth Legion.   After getting decimated in a guerrilla attack behind enemy lines, the surviving members must fight their way back to their homeland.

The fine people over at Rotten Tomatoes got the chance to go on set, and they have provided us with this sweet, little video.

Enjoy:

The film stars Dominic West, Olga Kurylenko, and Michael Fassbender.   It is slated to release sometime later this year.

Trio of Actors Join Neil Marshall’s ‘Centurion’

Michael Fassbender (‘300’), Olga Kurylenko (‘Quantum of Solace’), and Dominic West (‘300’ and ‘Punisher: War Zone’) have all signed up for Neil Marshall’s sword-and-sandal thriller ‘Centurion’.

The movie, billed as a thriller set during the Roman invasion of Britain in AD 117, tells the story of Quintus Dias, sole survivor of a Pictish raid on a Roman frontier fort, who marches north with General Virilus’ legendary Ninth Legion, under orders to wipe the Picts from the face of the Earth and destroy their leader, Gorlacon.

Celador Films is producing for Pathe Distribution. Â  Marshall, who wrote and is directing the film, has a good, working relationship with Pathe and Celador after the success of 2006’s ‘The Descent’.
