New International Trailer for ‘Street Fighter’

So, here’s the first trailer (International) for the new ‘Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li’ movie… and, to be completely honest, it doesn’t look quite as bad as I figured it would be. Then again, this is just the trailer. One thing is for sure, if I had to choose between paying to see this or paying to see the new ‘Dragonball: Evolution’ movie… oh, man! ‘Street Fighter’ looks like freaking ‘Citizen Kane’!!!

I’m still not convinced that Kristin Kreuk is properly cast, but at least she’s nice to look at. It’s nice to see Michael Clarke Duncun is still working, but why he can’t get any major serious roles since ‘The Green Mile’ sort of eludes me. Maybe Hollywood doesn’t have any script in development that call for a hulking, deep-voiced African-American male. Who knows? … but, I still say he deserves to show his stuff in better films than this.

It seems like the filmmakers chose to take a step away from making the typical movie based on a video game and instead are trying to make a more traditional 21st century martial arts action flick. I am still on the fence as to whether the special FX will be overused. The action scenes looks fairly well choreographed, but nothing I haven’t seen before. ‘Wanted’ this is not! Enough of what I think. What do you guys and gals think? How will this movie rate? Did the trailer surprise you or merely confirm what you expected?

Chun Li Has Eyes For You

Yeah, the writing is a little funny, but that’s because that is the official Japanese one-sheet for ‘Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li’.   The movie’s official site has also opened its doors.

The film is set for a February 27, 2009 release and stars Kristin Kreuk, Michael Clarke Duncan, Neal McDonough, Taboo, Chris Klein, Moon Bloodgood, Edmund Chen, Cheng Pei Pei, Josie Ho and Robin Shou.

Kreuk looks perfect for the part, and I’m sure that poster is just the first of many “character” posters that will be released.
