‘Scott Pilgrim’ Creator Discusses the Film’s Format

There was some buzz that came across the wire last week when Brandon Routh made mention that Edgar Wright’s big-screen adaptation of ‘Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World’ would be a “great mix of real people and drawn animation”.

MTV News sat down with Bryan Lee O’Malley, the writer/artist behind the ‘Scott Pilgrim’ comic series. Â  The animator shed some light on what the finished project may look like.

“I think what he said was kind of blown out of proportion by the rumor mill,† said O’Malley of Routh’s description of the film. “It’s not going to be like half the thing is hand-animated, like they’re saying on the Internet lately.†

O’Malley told MTV he believes Routh was explaining “more about special effects and incorporating some hand-drawn doodling and stuff.†

“It’s not going to be a hand-drawn Michael Cera,† he added.

As for whether he’d be the one providing that animation, O’Malley told MTV it was still early to weigh in on his level of involvement in that area.

“I might be involved a little bit,† he hinted, “but it’s still kind of early on that.†

So, what do you think? Â  Will Edgar Wright do the comic justice in whatever format he chooses to present the film in? Â  How do you think the hand-drawn elements are going to be incorporated into the film? Â  Let us know by commenting below!

Are you ready for a Darker Superman?

With a lot of superhero movies coming out, it isn’t hard for people to question… Are superheroes always good? That was a question that Brandon Routh thought of during the hold-up of the sequel to ‘Superman Returns’. Now, before you start thinking “dark” as in Spider-Man, that is not the kind of dark I am referring to. Brandon’s idea is to show that Superman, or Clark Kent, has not had an easy life with being an alien foreign to this planet and also having to live among us in secret. I don’t know about you, but this idea that he has is pretty cool. I have always been about character growth and it seems in this new movie that is just the ally they are heading down.

Brandon Routh moves past Superman…

He has joined on to star alongside Samuel L Jackson in the upcoming thriller ‘Unthinkable’, also with Carrie-Anne Moss(Trinity).

The movie is based around an American Muslim who has apparently planted bombs in 3 large US cities. Apparently Routh, Jackson, Carrie-Anne Moss, Gil Bellows, and Martin Donovan are tasked with finding these bombs. Here is the official synopsis:

Samuel L. Jackson stars as a overt operations interrogator who teams with an FBI agent in order to find a string of nuclear weapons held by a terrorist in this Gregor Jordan-helmed Senator Entertainment production.

I am not quite sure how great this movie is going to pan out, guess we will see once the first trailer hits.
