This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is skyview5.jpg

Drive in movies are now allowed to open on May 8th and The Skyview is going to do that. They are sure that they can do it safely. First thing they will do is reduce their capacity by half. Instead of parking two vehicles between poles, they will park only one car. The Health Department said that since we are parking like that, you be able to bring your lawn chairs and sit next to your vehicle. You will be more than 6 feet away from anyone else.

The concession stand will have a limited menu. They will have cheeseburgers, hot dogs, popcorn and bottled soda and lemonade. You will not come inside, Someone will meet you on the Schnucks side patio and get your order for you.

They will not use the women’s bathroom at all since it so crowded. Men’s room will allow four at a time. They will have 16 porta-potties that will be cleaned every fifteen minutes.

Here’s the line-up for May 1st-7th

Screen #1 – The Goonies PG 8:00 and BEETLEJUICE PG 10:05
Screen #2 – Grease PG13 8:00 and Ferris Buehler’s Day Off PG 10:00

Most of the reserved spots have been taken for both screens on Friday and Saturday. If you would like to try to reserve a spot, just respond to this email and tell us three things; which night you want to come, which movies you want to see, and whether you will be parking at an orange pole (vehicle taller than 5’2″) or a white pole (vehicle 5’2″ or shorter.)

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is skyview6.jpg

They expect large crowds, especially over the weekend, so you should plan to come early. The box office will open at 6:30 all seven nights.

It’s Showtime! BEETLEJUICE This Weekend Midnights at The Tivoli

BEETLEJUICE plays this weekend (October 5th and 6th) at the Tivoli as part of their Reel Late at the Tivoli Midnight series.

It’s showtime! The spring season of the Tivoli Theater’s ‘Reel Late at the Tivoli’ midnight series really kicks off this weekend (unless you count this past weekend’s ROCKY HORROR) with the 1988 favorite BEETLEJUICE

beetlejuice-the-movie-23839141-1360-768

There’s never been a horror comedy like Tim Burton’ BEETLEJUICE before or since. The film is a nugget of precise mayhem that never seems to get old. Tim Burton and Danny Elfman’s partnership is at or near its peak at this point in their careers, delivering a perfect blend of wildly original visuals and unusually appropriate musical cues, and they get plenty of extra help from the cast; Michael Keaton’s Beetlejuice (Burton originally wanted Sammy Davis Jr for the role!!) is filthy, vulgar, and has a bad case of gingivitis. Although all of these aspects are unappealing, there is something to love about Beetlejuice, and that’s his personality. He’s funny and crude because what would you do if you’ve lived through the black plague and seen the exorcist about 167 times? If I was him, I’d be bored with myself by now but somehow Keaton puts life into this character like he just died yesterday. Many times during BEETLEJUICE we see other dead specters. What’s funny about these ghosts is that the way they died is the way they’re portrayed so you know exactly how they met their end. A fellow wearing a chicken- eating bib has a chicken leg stuck in his throat. A man is flat as a poster board because along his front side is a tire track. That’s one of the fun parts of this movie. Other fun parts are the rest of the cast: Catherine O’Hara, Jeffrey Jones, Geena Davis, Winona Ryder and a borderline-unrecognizable Alec Baldwin. A genuinely hilarious script dances in awkward beauty from comedy to horror and back again, leaving plenty of room for scalding improvisation and keeping even the most tenured viewer guessing about what’s around the next corner.

The Tivoli Announces the ‘Reel Late’ Midnight Line-Up – 2001, BEETLEJUICE, HALLOWEEN

Another brilliant lineup of midnight movies for the ‘Reel Late at The Tivoli’ to end the 2018 season. It’s an especially good variety of titles that will draw the late night movie buff crowd with several retro surprises. The Midnight Movie experience has always catered to a college-age crowd and that’s the way it should be. The oldest film this time is 2001  SPACE ODYSSEY from 1968 and the most recent is THE ROOM (again!). There’s no Miyazaki this schedule (a first in a long time!) but a couple of standards including BEETLEJUICE . I’ve been hosting the midnight show at The Tivoli for ten years now and I think HALLOWEEN may be  new to the Tivoli midnight roster. I it will draw a good crowd.

Tickets are $8 (except for ROCKY HORROR).

Here’s the line-up:

Sept. 21 & 22 – 2001  SPACE ODYSSEY

Sept.28-29 – THE ROOM

Oct. 5 &6 – BEETLEJUICE

Oct 12 & 13 – HALLOWEEN (1978)

Oct 19 &20 and Oct. 26 & 27 – ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW  with live shadow cast, Samurai Electricians!
All tickets $10

Toy Fair 2017: Mezco

SONY DSC

Toy Fair is an annual trade show where hundreds of toy companies get together to showcase their latest innovations for buyers and press. The following is a photo recap from the Mezco booth. To see the rest of our coverage, click HERE.

About 2 ½ years ago Mezco unveiled the One:12 Collective at Comic Con and the line has been rapidly growing ever since. Drawing from comics, film, and pop culture, these 6” scale figures are about the same size as the ones you will find from Hasbro at your local Toys R Us. However, these figures feature real fabric clothing, multiple heads/accessories, extreme articulation, and incredible detail. Basically they take the best qualities from high-end brands such as Hot Toys but shrink them down to half the size for a third of the price. Some of their licenses on display included DC Comics, Marvel, GHOSTBUSTERS, Popeye, EVIL DEAD, and STAR TREK.

SONY DSC

In addition to quickly cornering the 6” scale figure market for adult collectors, Mezco also happens to be one of the leading companies for horror movie merch. They were responsible for the HELLRAISER Lament Configuration Rubiks cube that went viral last fall. Some of the highlights of their latest horror offerings include 15” Chucky & Tiffany figures, a scaled replica of ANNABELLE, an amazing Sam from TRICK R TREAT, and two adorable DAWN OF THE DEAD dolls.

You can find pics of their horror items and One:12 Collective figures below…
