Albeit a quick four seconds, here’s a first glimpse of a chimpanzee from director Rupert Wyatt’s RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES.

Be the first to see footage from the film – including a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the apes! The event includes a fan Q&A session. “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” is a completely new take on one of the Studio’s most beloved and successful franchises. Oscar-winning visual effects house WETA Digital — employing the groundbreaking technologies developed for AVATAR — will render, for the first time ever in the film series, photo-realistic apes rather than costumed actors. This is an origin story in the truest sense of the term. Set in present day San Francisco, the film is a reality-based cautionary tale, a science fiction/science fact blend, where man’s own experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy.

Starring James Franco, Tom Felton, Andy Serkis, Brian Cox, RISE OF THE APES will be in theaters on August 5, 2011.

Synopsis:

From the makers of the hit ICE AGE series, RIO is a comedy-adventure about taking a walk on the wild side. Blu is a domesticated Macaw who never learned to fly, living a comfortable life with his owner and best friend Linda in the small town of Moose Lake, Minnesota. Blu and Linda think he’s the last of his kind, but when they learn about another Macaw who lives in Rio de Janeiro, they head to the faraway and exotic land to find Jewel, Blu’s female counterpart. Not long after they arrive, Blu and Jewel are kidnapped by a group of bungling animal smugglers. With the help of street smart Jewel, and a group of wise-cracking and smooth-talking city birds, Blu escapes. Now, with his new friends by his side, Blu will have to find the courage to learn to fly, thwart the kidnappers who are hot on their trail, and return to Linda, the best friend a bird ever had.

Directed by Carlos Saldanha, and starring the voices of Anne Hathaway, Jesse Eisenberg, George Lopez, Tracy Morgan, Jemaine Clement, Leslie Mann, will.i.am and Jamie Foxx, RIO will be in theaters on April 15, 2011.

RIO Featurette: Feel the Rhythm

Are these guys just too sweet or what? In this new featurette from Blue Sky and 20th Century Fox, go inside the studio as Jamie Foxx and will.i.am create the music for the animated film RIO.
