Billy Taggart (Mark Wahlberg) has a promising career as a New York City cop until the night he is involved in a controversial shooting. Stripped of his badge, but kept out of jail by New York’s popular Mayor (Russell Crowe), he re-makes himself as a private investigator.

Times are tough, and when the mayor offers Billy $50,000 to investigate the First Lady’s (Catherine Zeta Jones) extra-marital activities, it seems like a straight forward payday. Unfortunately, it quickly becomes apparent that the Mayor is not at all what he seems, and for Billy to achieve redemption he will have to risk everything — possibly even his freedom.

Always a tad jarring to see Crowe dressed in everyman’s attire. I’m more for seeing him in historical/period piece garb. Part of the Hughes Brothers directing team, Allen Hughes has previously helmed BOOK OF ELI with Denzel Washington, FROM HELL with Johnny Depp and NEW YORK, I LOVE YOU. Also starring Jeffrey Wright, Kyle Chandler and Barry Pepper, BROKEN CITY will be in theaters January 18th, 2013.

Check Out The New Trailer For DreamWorks Animation’s THE CROODS

Last month Twentieth Century Fox unveiled DreamWorks Animation’s feature film release slate for 2013 to 2016. THE CROODS is among the twelve CG animated films set to hit theaters in those four years. In this first look, directors Chris Sanders and Kirk DeMicco introduce the NEW trailer for the film.

When their cave is destroyed, the Crood family is forced to embark on an epic adventure into a pre-historic world in search of a new home. With the help of a brash, know-it-all nomad named Guy, the Croods learn to conquer their fears and discover what it takes to survive – each other.

Written and directed by Academy-Award® nominee Chris Sanders (How to Train Your Dragon) and Kirk DeMicco (Space Chimps) and produced by Kristine Belson (How to Train Your Dragon) and Jane Hartwell (Shrek), the film stars Nicolas Cage, Ryan Reynolds, Emma Stone, Catherine Keener, Clark Duke, and Cloris Leachman.

THE LONE RANGER Teaser Trailer Lands (Video)

First Trailer, Posters, Images For IDENTITY THIEF Starring Jason Bateman And Melissa McCarthy

HORRIBLE BOSSES’ Jason Bateman and BRIDESMAIDS’ Melissa McCarthy lead an all-star cast of IDENTITY THIEF in this first trailer for the comedy. The film is centered around a regular guy who is forced to extreme measures to clear his name. With everything to lose after his identity is stolen, he’ll find out how crazed you can get trying to settle a bad credit score.

I already like the chemistry between the two. Melissa McCarthy is at the top of her game now and this type of physical comedy is tailor made for the Academy-Award® nominated actress. Plus who doesn’t love a good laugh after the first of the year to help relieve some of those winter doldrums. With the additional cast and crew, IDENTITY THIEF looks hilarious. The movie is directed by HORRIBLE BOSSES’ Seth Gordon, nevermind it’s from the producer of this summer’s funniest movie TED – Scott Stuber. Also producing are Bateman and Pamela Abdy (upcoming 47 RONIN). The film co-stars Jon Favreau, Amanda Peet, Tip “T.I.” Harris, Genesis Rodriguez, Morris Chestnut, John Cho, Robert Patrick and Eric Stonestreet.

Unlimited funds have allowed Diana (McCarthy) to live it up on the outskirts of Miami, where the queen of retail buys whatever strikes her fancy. There’s only one glitch: The ID she’s using to finance these sprees reads “Sandy Bigelow Patterson”…. and it belongs to an accounts rep (Bateman) who lives halfway across the U.S. With only one week to hunt down the con artist before his world implodes, the real Sandy Bigelow Patterson heads south to confront the woman with an all-access pass to his life. LIFE OF PI Trailer No. 2

In the all-new theatrical trailer, Pi (Suraj Sharma) and a Bengal tiger known as Richard Parker arrive at an uneasy detente in director Ang Lee´s LIFE OF PI. In August it was announced that the long awaited film will make its World Premiere as the Opening Night Gala presentation for the upcoming 50th New York Film Festival on September 28th. PROMISED LAND Gets A First Trailer

Here’s the brand new trailer for PROMISED LAND, Focus Features’ contemporary drama from two-time Academy Award-nominated director Gus Van Sant (GOOD WILL HUNTING). Starring Matt Damon, John Krasinski and Oscar-winner Frances McDormand (FARGO), the film is based on a story by Dave Eggers (AWAY WE GO), with an original screenplay by Krasinski and Damon.

Matt Damon plays Steve Butler, a corporate salesman who arrives in a rural town with his sales partner, Sue Thomason (Frances McDormand). With the town having been hit hard by the economic decline of recent years, the two outsiders see the local citizens as likely to accept their company’s offer, for drilling rights to their properties, as much-needed relief. What seems like an easy job for the duo becomes complicated by the objection of a respected schoolteacher (Hal Holbrook) with support from a grassroots campaign led by another man (John Krasinski) who counters Steve both personally and professionally.

Last we saw of Krasinski was alongside Drew Barrymore in BIG MIRACLE. He graduated from Brown University in 2001 as an honors playwright with a B.A. in English literature, so I’ll be interested to see how the script turns out. His first screenplay, as well as assuming the director’s chair, was for 2009’s BRIEF INTERVIEWS WITH HIDEOUS MEN. As for Oscar winner Damon, he previously starred in Steven Soderbergh’s CONTAGION and Cameron Crowe’s WE BOUGHT A ZOO. His next film is one I can’t wait to see – ELYSIUM (March 2013) – from director Neill Blomkamp (DISTRICT 9).

PROMISED LAND also stars Rosemarie DeWitt (Rachel Getting Married), Scoot McNairy (of this October’s Killing Them Softly), Titus Welliver (The Town) and Academy Award nominee Hal Holbrook (Into the Wild).

PROMISED LAND will be released in exclusive engagements in New York and Los Angeles on Friday, December 28th, 2012, prior to an expansion in January 2013.

GAMBIT International Trailer Stars Colin Firth, Cameron Diaz, Alan Rickman And Stanley Tucci

Watch the trailer for GAMBIT starring Oscar winner Colin Firth (THE KING’S SPEECH), Cameron Diaz (THE GREEN HORNET), Alan Rickman (HARRY POTTER series), Golden Globe winner Stanley Tucci (JULIE & JULIA) and Tom Courtenay (THE GOLDEN COMPASS). The screenplay is by Joel Coen & Ethan Coen (TRUE GRIT, NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN, RAISING ARIZONA). As Tucci says in this first preview of GAMBIT, it looks “bloody marvelous!”

The director of THE LAST STATION, Michael Hoffman, brings to the screen the remake of the 1966 crime-caper which starred Michael Caine and Shirley MacLaine. Should the original turn up on TCM try to catch. It was nominated for 3 Academy Awards and is absolutely delightful.

In this latest version, the story centers on British art curator Harry Deane (Firth) who devises a finely-crafted scheme to con England’s richest man and avid art collector, Lionel Shabandar, (Rickman) into purchasing a fake Monet painting. In order to bait his buyer, he recruits a Texas rodeo queen (Diaz) to cross the pond and pose as a woman whose grandfather liberated the painting at the end of WWII.

GAMBIT will be released in the U.S. in 2013. In UK cinemas, November 21
