Ryan Gosling And Director David Leitch At THE FALL GUY Stuntacular At Universal Studios Hollywood

On Saturday, WeAreMovieGeeks.com got a sneak peek at the Fall Guy Stuntacular at Universal Studios Hollywood. Based on the upcoming reboot of the 80’s classic TV series, The Fall Guy Stuntacular is a limited running show at the popular movie theme park. Presented just before the Water World stunt show at Universal, this new show features many of the big stunts from the movie. And as if that wasn’t enough, Ryan Gosling, star of the new film was on hand to treat the invited audience to the first look at the stunts and the stunt men and women who make it all possible. Gosling called the film, “a love letter to the stunt community” that has been overshadowed for years. Laughs were also abound, as Gosling doubled down on his likeability and comic chops, joking with the crowd and director of the film David Leitch who was also in attendance.

The pre-show is produced by 87North and will feature new original stunts. It runs from April 27 – May 19.

THE FALL GUY arrives in theaters on May 3, 2024.

In March Logan Holladay, stunt driver for Oscar nominee Ryan Gosling’s character in The Fall Guy, shattered the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for most cannon rolls in a car, achieving an astonishing eight and a half rolls during the film’s 2022 production on the beaches of Sydney, Australia. This groundbreaking feat in blockbuster director David Leitch’s latest film surpassed the previous record held by stuntman Adam Kirley, who achieved seven cannon rolls during the filming of 2006’s Casino Royale. Holladay executed the stunt behind the wheel of a modified Jeep Grand Cherokee fitted with an external fiberglass body.

The film, which stars Gosling as a stuntman and Emily Blunt as a film director, pays homage to the unsung heroes of the stunt community. Thus, the production prioritized practical stunts. “With The Fall Guy, I’m honoring my roots as a stunt performer,” Leitch says. “We wanted to deliver action that was true to the spirit of the stunt community by incorporating techniques that have become somewhat of a lost art. The cannon roll is a classic stunt and was a must-have for this film. And since we were making a movie that honors the work of stunt performers, we didn’t just set out to achieve the cannon roll; we set out to break records and make a statement. Logan executed it flawlessly and showcased why he’s a standout in the stunt community.”

Meet the stuntmen from the film.

He’s a stuntman, and like everyone in the stunt community, he gets blown up, shot, crashed, thrown through windows and dropped from the highest of heights, all for our entertainment. And now, fresh off an almost career-ending accident, this working-class hero has to track down a missing movie star, solve a conspiracy and try to win back the love of his life while still doing his day job. What could possibly go right?

From real life stunt man and director David Leitch, the blockbuster director of Bullet TrainDeadpool 2Atomic Blonde and Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw and the producer of John WickNobody and Violent Night, comes his most personal film yet. A new hilarious, hard-driving, all-star apex-action thriller and love letter to action movies and the hard-working and under-appreciated crew of people who make them: The Fall Guy.

Oscar® nominee Ryan Gosling (BarbieLa La LandDrive) stars as Colt Seavers, a battle-scarred stuntman who, having left the business a year earlier to focus on both his physical and mental health, is drafted back into service when the star of a mega-budget studio movie—being directed by his ex, Jody Moreno, played by Oscar® nominee Emily Blunt (OppenheimerA Quiet Place films, Sicario)—goes missing.

While the film’s ruthless producer (Emmy winner Hannah Waddingham; Ted Lasso), maneuvers to keep the disappearance of star Tom Ryder (Golden Globe winner Aaron Taylor-Johnson; Bullet Train) a secret from the studio and the media, Colt performs the film’s most outrageous stunts while trying (with limited success) to charm his way back into Jody’s good graces. But as the mystery around the missing star deepens, Colt will find himself ensnared in a sinister, criminal plot that will push him to the edge of a fall more dangerous than any stunt.

Inspired by the hit 1980s TV series, The Fall Guy also stars Winston Duke (Black Panther franchise) and Academy Award® nominee Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All at Once).

From a screenplay by Hobbs & Shaw screenwriter Drew Pearce, The Fall Guy is produced by Kelly McCormick (Bullet TrainNobodyAtomic Blonde) and David Leitch for their company 87North, and by Ryan Gosling and by Guymon Casady (Game of ThronesSteve Jobs and executive producer of the upcoming series Ripley) for Entertainment 360. The film is executive produced by Drew Pearce, Entertainment 360’s Geoff Shaevitz and the creator of the original Fall Guy television series, Glen A. Larson.

KINGDOM OF THE PLANET OF THE APES Goes Apes At Venice Beach

On Monday April 22, 20th Century Studios’ all-new action-adventure spectacle, KINGDOM OF THE PLANET OF THE APES, made a trip to Venice Beach to get some sun, catch some waves and promote the film to onlookers lucky enough to be there. The apes on horseback was a clever idea and looked very reminiscent of the original 1968 film PLANET OF THE APES.

The film opens in movie theaters globally on May 10, 2024, and will be available in IMAX®, Dolby Cinema®, 4DX, and premium screens everywhere. Be among the first to see Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes on the big screen at the early access screening on May 8th.

Check out the cool promotion below!

Director Wes Ball breathes new life into the global, epic franchise set several generations in the future following Caesar’s reign. Apes are the dominant species living harmoniously with one another and humans have been reduced to living in the shadows. As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape will undertake a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.

20th Century Studios set out to revive the immensely popular “Planet of the Apes” franchise in 2011 with “Rise of the Planet of the Apes,” directed by Rupert Wyatt, which grossed over $480 million worldwide at the box office. “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,” directed by Matt Reeves, was released three years later, in 2014, grossing over $710 million worldwide. “War for the Planet of the Apes,” also directed by Reeves, followed in 2017 and grossed over $490 million worldwide. All three films utilized state-of-the-art performance capture technology to bring the apes to life, and each one was nominated for an Oscar® for best achievement in visual effects

It was 2019 when Ball was first asked about the possibility of reviving the iconic franchise, but he wasn’t interested initially. “The truth is, I initially said ‘no way,’” admits Ball. “How do you follow up those last three movies? I wasn’t interested in following the adventures of Caesar’s son, although there’s a great story to be told there. At the same time, I didn’t want to abandon what Matt Reeves and Rupert Wyatt had created in the Caesar trilogy. What they had done was phenomenal filmmaking.”

“Story-wise, these films resonate with people because they have sci-fi concepts, and they tackle issues of humanity,” Ball continues. “They deal with issues like class and race, about what it means to be human, and allow us to look at, analyze, and pinpoint deep issues about ourselves. They hold a mirror up to society and compel us to look at problems we as humans face through the lens of this fantastical world.”

The film is directed by Wes Ball (the “Maze Runner” trilogy) and stars Owen Teague (“IT”), Freya Allan (“The Witcher”), Kevin Durand (“Locke & Key”), Peter Macon (“Shameless”), and William H. Macy (“Fargo”). The film is written by Josh Friedman (“War of the Worlds”), based on characters created by Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver (“Avatar: The Way of Water”), and the producers are Wes Ball, Joe Hartwick, Jr., p.g.a. (“The Maze Runner”), Rick Jaffa, p.g.a., Amanda Silver, p.g.a., Jason Reed, p.g.a. (“Mulan”), with Peter Chernin (the “Planet of the Apes” trilogy) and Jenno Topping (“Ford v. Ferrari”) serving as executive producers.

Watch The Trailer For Shudder’s NIGHTWATCH: DEMONS ARE FOREVER – Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Kim Bodnia and Ulf Pilgaard Reprise Roles In Sequel To Danish Cult-Classic NIGHTWATCH (1994)

Streaming on Shudder May 17th is NIGHTWATCH: DEMONS ARE FOREVER, the chilling sequel to the Danish cult-classic NIGHTWATCH (1994), which inspired the 1997 U.S. remake starring Ewan McGregor.

22-year-old medical student Emma (Fanny Leander Bornedal) has just taken a job as the night watch in the same forensic department where her parents were once almost killed by the famed psychopathic police inspector Wörmer. The events led to her mother’s suicide, and her father Martin (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) has turned to tranquilizers to suppress the memories. Determined to investigate what exactly happened to them, Emma tracks down and confronts Wörmer, only to unintentionally reawaken his bloodthirst and ignite a violent revenge on everyone who sealed his destiny years ago.

Written and directed by Ole Bornedal (THE POSSESSION), 1994’s Nightwatch was a success in Denmark and was shown at the Fantafestival in 1995. An English-language remake of the film, also directed by Bornedal, was released in 1997. The original Nightwatch was included on a list of the top 100 Danish films as chosen by Kosmorama.
