Does every movie have to be an retro remake!? Hollywoods says yes

protectedimagephp.jpg

Seriously, look at the last few years and also what is to come, why can’t hollywood come up with some fresh and new ideas!? Well, they can, it is just that they know that these movies did good in the 80’s, so they will for sure get there pockets lined with cash this time. These are the movies that are out and are in the works right now.

Transformers

Speed Racer

The Smurfs

Hellraiser

The Producers

The Hills Have Eyes

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Willard

Black Christmas

The list goes on and on. Its sad, mainly because we have all already seen these movies. Yet, people flock to the theaters in droves to see these remakes. I think this is ridiculous. Now don’t get me wrong there are some really kickass guys in hollywood pumping out new stuff. Judd Apatow for example he has done Anchorman, 40 year old virgin, Superbad, knocked up, ect. Those are the fresh new movies I like to see. I don’t want to watch a rehashing of old crap I’ve seen a thousand times. I will make a prediction, so take note. These are the movies I think will be remade in the next 10 years…

Beetlejuice

Children of the corn

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

Karate Kid

Toxic Advenger

Blues Brothers

Platoon

I think at least two of those movies will be remade. Now there is only one thing we can do, that is wait and let Hollywood cram these movies down our throat….

‘Juno’ Is Biggest “Indie” Hit in Six Years. Sigh …

juno.jpg

Currently blessed with a $125 million gross to date, Fox Searchlight’s Juno is the biggest “indie” hit since My Big Fat Greek Wedding in 2002, which for some reason ended up with about $241 million by the time it was done. IMDB.com also notes that it’s the only film this year to remain in the top 10 box office list every weekend since its opening, and that it’s the highest grossing of any of the Oscar nominated films this year. You see Juno, with it’s hamburger phones and recurring Moldy Peaches songs somehow beat a film like No Country For Old Men’s gross by DOUBLE ($61.3 million). Well, I guess you couldn’t bring Grandma to something like NCFOM over the holidays, right? What’s that? Grandma hates obnoxious movie hype and excessively witty scripted dialogue, as well as the definition of “indie” as somehow being inclusive of high profile casting and budgets that most beginning filmmakers couldn’t begin to dream of? Oh, well, then. Sorry about that.

Juno, you were funny and all, but I’m just saying maybe Margot at the Wedding, Two Days In Paris, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, Control, and any number of the other films competing at the same level of profile could’ve gotten half the attention you did, no?

Justice League (Minus Two) in 2010

jlofamericaedit.JPG

According to the buzz on Rotten Tomatoes and Moviehole.net, it looks like the Justice League movie has pushed its shooting start date to 2010. But perhaps more importantly, it may find itself without its two highest profile members, Batman and Superman. In a fairly clever move by Warner Brothers to keep its popular single hero franchises from getting tangled up in an ensemble piece, the Justice League movie will deal with the team struggling to stay a cohesive group after Batman leaves and Superman dies at the hands of villain Doomsday (both of which obviously staying true to moments in the comics). So the movie will instead focus on heroes we HAVEN’T see before on screen, like Green Lantern, The Flash, Martian Manhunter (I hope), etc. It also means you won’t have to see Brandon Routh’s cardboard incarnation of Superman get into arguments with Christian Bale’s Batman, which I’m not sure I’d be able to take seriously. Mostly because I’d be waiting for Bale to punch that version of Supes’ head off at any given moment.

When will we quit ‘Stepping Up’ to ‘Feel the Noize’?

14stree600.jpg

Ok, First let me say how fucking tired I am of seeing these stupid dance movies. All which the same premise, stupid dance scenes, and a ridiculous Hip Hop soundtrack that is promoted more than the movie itself.

I first though of doing a top 10 list of the worst “dance movies” but..i couldnt because there are more than 10, and they are all bad.

PLEASE STOP THIS MADNESS kids and quit going to see them in theaters thus we will see them straight to DVD, and hopefully gone all together.

WAMG First look at ‘The Wrestler’

mickeyrourke.JPG

This movie is going to be bad ass, especially if you are/were a fan of wrestling in the 80’s, early 90’s. Mickey Rourke and Marisa Tomei star, with Darren Aronofsky directing. Wikipedia gives us this about the movie.

“Randy “Ram” Robinson (Rourke) is a retired professional wrestler from the 1980s who is forced to retire after a heart attack threatens to kill him the next time he fights. Robinson begins a job at a deli, moves in with an aging stripper, and attempts to form a relationship with her son. However, Robinson is drawn to the prospect of a rematch with his old wrestling nemesis the Ayatollah, even though the fight may cost him his life.”
