David Strathairn And Uzo Aduba Join Ewan McGregor, Jennifer Connelly And Dakota Fanning In AMERICAN PASTORAL

Lakeshore Entertainment announced additional casting on AMERICAN PASTORAL with David Strathairn as “Nathan Zuckerman,” Peter Riegert as “Lou Levov,” Uzo Aduba as “Vicky” and Valorie Curry as “Rita Cohen.”

The film adaptation, based on the Pulitzer Prize winning novel written by Philip Roth also stars Ewan McGregor, Jennifer Connelly and Dakota Fanning, with McGregor directing.

AMERICAN PASTORAL follows Seymour “Swede” Levov, a legendary high school athlete, who grows up to marry a former beauty queen and inherits his father’s business. Swede’s seemingly perfect life shatters when his daughter rebels by becoming a revolutionary and committing a deadly act of political terrorism during the Vietnam War.

AMERICAN PASTORAL’s adapted screenplay was written by John Romano (LINCOLN LAWYER) with filming scheduled for September 2015 in Pittsburgh, PA. AMERICAN PASTORAL will be produced by Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi.

Strathairn won the Volpi Cup at the Venice Film Festival and earned nominations from the Academy, Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild, BAFTA and Independent Spirit Awards for his compelling portrait of legendary CBS news broadcaster Edward R. Murrow in George Clooney’s Oscar-nominated drama Good Night, and Good Luck. He won an Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in the HBO project, Temple Grandin and was nominated for his portrayal of John Dos Passos in HBO’s Hemingway and Gellhorn. He was most recently seen in The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.

Peter Riegert

Riegert, who has starred in iconic films such as ANIMAL HOUSE, LOCAL HERO and CROSSING DELANCEY, can currently be seen on David Simon’s new HBO mini-series SHOW ME A HERO as well as Dennis Leary’s SEX&DRUGS&ROCK&ROLL.

Aduba has won both Screen Actors Guild and Emmy awards for her role in Netflix’s ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK, which also earned her a Golden Globe nomination. She will be seen next in NBC’s THE WIZ LIVE!.

Curry is known for her roles on THE FOLLOWING, HOUSE OF LIES and TWILIGHT.

Director David Gelb cuts in a rigorous, high-energy look at the history of Ford and the definitive muscle car. We all know it had a chassis cool enough for Steve McQueen in BULLITT (it is still the greatest chase scene of all time! Here’s a first look at Sony Pictures’ upcoming film, THE 5TH WAVE.

The movie, directed by J Blakeson, stars Chloe Grace Moretz, Nick Robinson, Alex Roe, Liev Schreiber, Maika Monroe, Maria Bello, Maggie Siff and Ron Livingston.

In the new film THE 5TH WAVE, four waves of increasingly deadly attacks have left most of Earth decimated. Against a backdrop of fear and distrust, Cassie is on the run, desperately trying to save her younger brother. As she prepares for the inevitable and lethal 5th wave, Cassie teams up with a young man who may become her final hope – if she can only trust him.

The screenplay is from Susannah Grant and Akiva Goldsman & Jeff Pinkner, based on the first installment in a trilogy by Rick Yancey. (The second book in the series, The Infinite Sea, came out on September 16, 2014. The third book in the series is named The Last Star and is scheduled to come out May 24, 2016).

The score will be from composer Henry Jackman.

David Hill and Reginald Hudlin To Produce 88th Academy Awards

Emmy-winning live television producer David Hill and Oscar-nominated producer-director Reginald Hudlin will produce the 88th Oscars telecast, Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs announced today.  It will be their first involvement with the Academy Awards, which will air live on the ABC Television Network on Oscar Sunday, February 28, 2016.

“We’re delighted to have this talented team on board,” said Boone Isaacs. “David is a true innovator with a dynamic personality.  His vast experience as a live events producer, coupled with Reggie’s energy, creativity and talent as a filmmaker, is sure to make this year’s Oscar telecast a memorable one.”

“What a great and exciting honor!  The quest is to honor the year in film, honor the art, and above all, make it fun,” said Hill.

“I’m looking forward to working with the Academy again,” said Hudlin.  “I love every kind of film and this year’s awards will be a celebration of the total range of cinema.”

An executive with the Fox group of companies for more than 25 years, Hill most recently served as the senior executive vice president of 21st Century Fox, overseeing programming, digital initiatives, and other opportunities on five continents. He was previously the chairman and CEO of Fox Sports Media Group, during which time he spearheaded the integration of new technologies and multiplatform programming services across the U.S.

A writer, director, producer and executive, Hudlin received a 2012 Best Picture Oscar nomination as a producer of “Django Unchained.”  Hudlin’s film credits include “Boomerang,” “The Great White Hype” and the award-winning comedy “House Party,” which he also wrote.  He executive produced the hit television series “The Boondocks” and “The Black Panther”; and has directed for “Modern Family,” “Murder in The First,” “New Girl” and “The Office.”  Last year, Hudlin produced the Academy’s 6th Annual Governors Awards ceremony and has been the executive producer of the NAACP Image Awards since 2012.

The Oscars ranks as television’s #1 entertainment telecast and consistently has drawn an average audience of more than 40 million viewers for the past 10 years.  The 88th Oscars will be held on Sunday, February 28, 2016, at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood, and will be televised live by the ABC Television Network.

The New Trailer For MACBETH Arrives

The Weinstein Company has released a new trailer for their upcoming film, MACBETH.

Starring Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard, MACBETH is the story of a fearless warrior and inspiring leader brought low by ambition and desire. A thrilling interpretation of the dramatic realities of the times and a reimagining of what wartime must have been like for one of Shakespeare’s most famous and compelling characters, a story of all-consuming passion and ambition, set in war torn Scottish landscape.

MACBETH is directed by Justin Kurzel (Snowtown) and stars Academy-Award nominee Michael Fassbender (12 Years A Slave) and Academy-Award winner Marion Cotillard (La Vie En Rose). The film also stars Paddy Considine (The Bourne Ultimatum), David Thewlis (the Harry Potter series), Sean Harris (Prometheus), Jack Reynor (What Richard Did) and Elizabeth Debicki (The Great Gatsby).

The film had its World Premiere at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival. Eddie Redmayne, Alicia Vikander And Ben Whishaw Star In THE DANISH GIRL Trailer

Focus Features has released the powerful new trailer for Academy Award-winning director Tom Hooper’s THE DANISH GIRL.

The movie will have its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival and screen at the Toronto International Film Festival.

The remarkable love story inspired by the lives of Lili Elbe and Gerda Wegener (portrayed by Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne [“The Theory of Everything”] and Alicia Vikander [“Ex Machina”]), directed by Academy Award winner Tom Hooper (“The King’s Speech,” “Les Misérables”). Lili and Gerda’s marriage and work evolve as they navigate Lili’s groundbreaking journey as a transgender pioneer.
