THE WITCH, THE LIGHTHOUSE, THE NORTHMAN, NOSFERATU and now WERWULF.
From vampires, to witches to wolves, director Robert Eggers’ latest film has a new trailer – coincidentally debuting on June’s full Strawberry Moon which rises tonight.
“it’s a very textured and dirty look, but also detailed. Which should make the gruesome, grisly, miserable, horrible, no-good, very-bad mediaeval world even nastier and smellier than it ever could be.” – Eggers
Official Synopsis: Witness Robert Eggers’ most visceral and haunting experience yet. Focus Features presents WERWULF, a harrowing tale of devotion, damnation and the devil within.
Starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Willem Dafoe and Lily-Rose Depp, Focus Features will release WERWULF in theaters on December 25th.
Composer Robin Carolan is scoring the film and once again collaborating with Eggers as he did on NOSFERATU and alongside Sebastian Gainsborough for 2022’s THE NORTHMAN.
In an interview with Empire, when asked: “The final shot has Aaron bone-crunching, foaming at the mouth. That’s as much as you give us, werewolf-wise, as it were. For now.
Yeah, this is a slow-burn horror that’s about the tension and the anticipation and the mystery and the darkness, and… we don’t want to give it away. But… this film is immersive, and needs to be experienced full-immersion, on the big screen. If you’re not smelling all the shit and mud in the street, then you’re not experiencing this movie properly.
I hope they put that on the poster. I don’t think they will.
