84th Academy Awards – Final Preparations & Dave Karger To Welcome Oscar’s Red Carpet Guests

With just one day until the 84th Academy Awards, final preparations were underway earlier today at the Kodak Theater. Even future Oscar winners got in a run through before tomorrow night’s celebration of the movies.

California Classics Floors’ premium Reserve Collection hardwood flooring is featured in this year’s Architectural Digest Greenroom at the 84th Annual Academy Awards. The Greenroom is the exclusive backstage lounge for stars presenting and being honored at the Oscars.

This is the tenth consecutive year that Architectural Digest will produce the Greenroom. The magazine chose renowned interior designer Waldo Fernandez to create this year’s Greenroom, which is inspired by Hollywood of the 1930s and 40s. Fernandez selected the Reserve Collection San Pietro product for the project, which is dark brown hardwood made of fine Walnut.

Academy Award® nominees and presenters arriving on the red carpet on Oscar® Sunday, February 26, will be greeted by Dave Karger, senior writer for Entertainment Weekly. Red carpet arrivals are expected to begin at approximately 3 p.m. PT.

This will be Karger’s second year as the Academy’s red carpet greeter. His celebrity chats will be featured on Oscar.com and streamed live on EW.com, and also will be audible to the hundreds of bleacher fans and arriving guests on the carpet. Immediately following his red carpet assignment, Karger will meet Oscar winners backstage on “Winners Walk” for Oscar .com. He is currently featured in the website’s video series “Nominated with Dave Karger.”

Karger has been covering movies, TV and music for Entertainment Weekly since 1995. In addition to spearheading Oscar coverage for the magazine and EW.com, he has written more than 40 cover stories on such artists as Angelina Jolie, George Clooney, Denzel Washington, Johnny Depp, Kate Winslet, Halle Berry, Will Smith, Anne Hathaway, Elton John, Justin Timberlake and Taylor Swift.

Karger also contributes to “Access Hollywood” as a guest correspondent and provides commentary about the Oscars® and movie box office results. He has made more than 150 appearances on the “Today” show.

Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements in 2011 will be presented on Sunday, February 26, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center®, and televised live on the ABC Television Network. The Oscar presentation also will be televised live in more than 225 countries worldwide.
