The music for the show has been fantastic. For those who love film scores, this is a must-have.

Walt Disney Records releases the digital soundtrack from Season 2 of “The Mandalorian,” Lucasfilm’s multiple Emmy®-winning live-action series, streaming exclusively on Disney+. The Mandalorian Season 2, Volume 1 (Chapters 9-12) digital album features score by Oscar®, Grammy® and Emmy® winning composer Ludwig Göransson (Tenet, Black Panther) and is available HERE.

The release will be followed by The Mandalorian Season 2, Volume 2 (Chapters 13-16) digital album available on December 18.

Earlier this year, Göransson won his first Emmy for “The Mandalorian” “Chapter 8: Redemption” in the Outstanding Music Composition For A Series (Original Dramatic Score) category. For the first season of “The Mandalorian,” Göransson released eight full-length albums, one album per episode, with recurring themes throughout the season. This season, he will release the soundtrack in two volumes containing new musical themes, sounds and ideas.

The score and character themes feature instruments played by Göransson including the bass recorder, woodwinds, drums, guitars, piano and percussion. The organic elements from those instruments are then infused with tech sounds and a cinematic orchestra.

The Child in Lucasfilm’s THE MANDALORIAN, season two, exclusively on Disney+. © 2020 Lucasfilm Ltd. & ™. All Rights Reserved.

While pursuing his masters degree in film scoring at USC, Göransson met his other longtime collaborator, director Ryan Coogler, when he scored his short film, Locks. Over the next nine years, Göransson would score all three of Coogler’s feature films.

Much like iconic filmmaking duos Hitchcock and Herrmann or Spielberg and Williams, Coogler’s diverse filmography has allowed Göransson to show his range as a composer, writing understated melodies for Fruitvale Station, hyping up audiences for Creed, and infusing African percussion into his themes for Black Panther.

Göransson has accumulated success in a variety of other films including the box office smash Venom and Pixar’s Inner Workings. In 2019, Göransson earned multiple awards and nominations for his score for Black Panther including a Golden Globe nomination, a Grammy Award for Best Score Soundtrack, and an Academy Award for Best Original Score. He won two Grammy Awards for his song “This is America”, which he co-wrote and co-produced with frequent collaborator Childish Gambino.

Most recently, Göransson completed the score for Season 2 of The Mandalorian, LucasFilm’s first Star Wars live-action series helmed by director Jon Favreau, streaming exclusively on Disney+.  In September 2020, he won his first Emmy Award for his work on the series.  Göransson also composed the music for Christopher Nolan’s Tenet, which premiered late summer 2020.  In addition, he co-wrote and co-produced the songs for DreamWorks’ Trolls World Tour with Justin Timberlake, which exceeded expectations with its history-making digital releasein April 2020, racking up nearly $100 million in sales in just three weeks.

In addition to new content offerings, Disney+ will also honor the artistry of Star Wars with a week-long concept art takeover on the service. Like a commemorative gallery, each film and series’ artwork will be updated on May 4th to feature its original concept paintings. From “Star Wars: A New Hope” to “The Mandalorian,” the updated art will feature work from celebrated artists such as the legendary Ralph McQuarrie and Academy Award-winning artist, author, and production designer, Doug Chiang. On the Disney+ home screen, the animated “Star Wars” brand tile, viewable on web and connected TV devices, gets upgraded with a new animation that honors the signature hyperspace jump. Disney+ THE MANDALORIAN Top 10 Moments From Season Finale – Jon Favreau Announces Season 2 Fall 2020

By Michelle Hannett and Marc Butterfield

From Bounty Hunters to Jedi, all things from a Galaxy Far Far Away are in abundance now for Star Wars fans. The final chapter of the nine movies, THE RISE OF SKYWALKER, is in theaters while over on the TV side, Disney+’s “The Mandalorian” has been a big hit and a huge success for creators Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau.  The first ever live action Star Wars series, stars Pedro Pascal (“The Mandalorian”), Gina Carano (“Cara Dune”) and Carl Weathers (“Greef”).

“The Mandalorian” is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.

The outstanding series finale titled “Redemption”, directed by Taika Waititi, aired on December 27th, and along with the brilliant score by composer Ludwig Göransson, it’s made a pop culture star out of “The Child” dubbed “Baby Yoda”.

Jon Favreau announced on Twitter the second season will be released the Fall of 2020.

MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD – TURN BACK NOW IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN EPISODE 8.

Here’s some of the highlights we caught from the season finale of the best show on TV.

Mandalore the Great of Mandalore and the The Jedi fought an epic battle. The Jedi are finally mentioned. Will The Mandalorian return The Child to his own species or try to find the Jedi order, namely Luke and Leia? There was no mention of the first Mandalorian Jedi, so will Mando discover this now, and how will it change his opinion of the Jedi?

We discovered the names of the characters. Carasynthia Dune of Alderaan (former Rebel shock trooper), Greef Carga is a disgraced lawman and The Mandalorian is Din Djarin, decommissioned hunter from the Guild and one who witnessed “The Night of a Thousand Tears”

His backstory as a child – we see how The Mandalorian’s parents sacrificed themselves and how a group of Mandalorians save him from the purge.

Moff Gideon wielded the black darksaber and was Imperial Security Bureau officer during the purge.

The darksaber has previously been seen in Disney’s Clone Wars series and Star Wars Rebels.

The cameos by Jason Sudeikis and Adam Pally as Scout Troopers were hilarious and they definitely reinforced the trope that storm troopers are lousy shots.

Jetpacks and TIE Fighters – the outrageous battle scene where Mando takes down Moff Gideon’s TIE Fighter was awesome, even in the SW Universe.

With the conclusion of season one, the filmmakers left us with some questions. Who is “The Child” and will we see the Jedi or a Yoda species?

And will Boba Fett return, as was suggested at the end of episode 5? Was it actually Boba Fett?

We heard the same ching-ching gunslinger boot sound during THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK. (video at 2:46)

If so, will we see once and for all if he was a true Mandalorian, and if he’s not, will the true Mandalorians confront him about his look and equipment?

Will we ever find out who the people that were originally holding The Child were?

Will Greef Carga and Cara Dune now form a protective alliance, forming a core team for Mando to call when needed?

What happened to the Mandalorians that helped Mando in Episode III? Did any survive? (my personal favorite, the Mandalorian Heavy Infantryman was too tough to die!)
