Paramount’s FLIGHT premiered and closed the New York Film Festival last weekend, followed by a Q & A on Monday with cast and crew. Read Sasha Stone’s piece on Washington and the Oscar race for Best Actor over at Awards Daily HERE. I’m having a first look at it tonight at Paramount and getting all the ins and outs at the press conference with the filmmakers and actors on Saturday. So stayed tuned for more in the coming days.

New York Film Festival – FLIGHT Closing Night Debut. Denzel Washington and wife Paula

In this action-packed mystery thriller, Academy Award winner, Denzel Washington stars as Whip Whitaker, a seasoned airline pilot, who miraculously crash lands his plane after a mid-air catastrophe, saving nearly every soul on board. After the crash, Whip is hailed as a hero, but as more is learned, more questions than answers arise as to who or what was really at fault and what really happened on that plane.

The project marks the first ever teaming of Denzel Washington and Robert Zemeckis, while also marking a return to live-action for the director, who previously helmed such hits as “Castaway,” “Forest Gump,” “Back To The Future,” and the live-action & animated classic “Who Framed Roger Rabbit.”

From Paramount Pictures, FLIGHT also features John Goodman, Don Cheadle and Melissa Leo. Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald will produce under the Parkes/MacDonald production banner along with Zemeckis, Steve Starkey, and Jack Rapke under their ImageMovers banner.

FLIGHT will land in theaters November 2, 2012.
