Synopsis:

X-MEN FIRST CLASS charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events. Before mutants had revealed themselves to the world, and before Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Not archenemies, they were instead at first the closest of friends, working together with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to prevent nuclear Armageddon. In the process, a grave rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.

X-MEN FIRST CLASS is directed by Matthew Vaughn (KICK-ASS) and stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Rose Byrne, January Jones, Oliver Platt, and Kevin Bacon. The story begins on June 3, 2011.

Production begins August 23 in London. X-MEN: FIRST CLASS will be in theaters on June 3, 2011.

Bacon & Lawrence Join X-MEN: FIRST CLASS Cast

THR’s Heat Vision is reporting that Jennifer Lawrence, the actress who’s been getting rave reviews for her work in WINTER’S BONE, has been cast as Mystique in Fox’s X-MEN: FIRST CLASS. They go on to say that 20th Century Fox  and director Matthew Vaughn have been furiously casting the movie, which focuses on Marvel’s superpowered team X-Men in a younger incarnation than the previous trilogy.

The role is a big jump in terms of exposure for Lawrence, who is generating awards buzz for WINTER’S BONE, and also marks her first studio feature. The actress is about to topline thriller THE HOUSE AT THE END OF THE STREET, which begins production in Ottawa in August, and will then segue to England for X-MEN.

Kevin Bacon is playing the villain, but as of now his identity is a tightly guarded secret. Ahhh Damn. This keeps Bacon from the next TREMORS movie that I was SOOO counting on, TREMORS: THE THUNDER FROM DOWN UNDER.

Before Charles Xavier ( James McAvoy) and Erik Lensherr (Michael Fassbender) took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Before they were archenemies, they were closest of friends, working together, with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known. In the process, a rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-MEN.

Nicholas Hoult, Alive Eve, Caleb Landry Jones and Aaron Johnson also star. Conceived by Bryan Singer, written by Jane Goldman, and directed by Matthew Vaughn (KICK-ASS), X-MEN: FIRST CLASS begins shooting in London later this summer and will be in theaters on June 3, 2011.

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS Finds Its Banshee And The Beast

According to Variety, 20th Century Fox has cast two more mutants in X-MEN: FIRST CLASS.

Caleb Landry Jones will play the Banshee in the origins pic, marking the first time the mutant has been introduced to the big screen franchise. Caleb stars in David Fincher’s upcoming THE SOCIAL NETWORK from Sony, and Eli Roth’s THE LAST EXORCISM, from Lionsgate. Previous credits include NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN and CBS pilot “Gimme Shelter,” from producer John Wells.

And in a second key casting, Nicholas Hoult will play the Beast. According to Variety, 20th Century Fox has yet to confirm either casting.

Synopsis:

Before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Before they were archenemies, they were closest of friends, working together, with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known. In the process, a rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-MEN.

Conceived by Bryan Singer and written by Jane Goldman, FIRST CLASS introduces Charles Xavier (MacAvoy) and Erik Lensherr (Fassbender) as young men, when discovering their powers for the first time and before taking the names Professor X and Magneto, respectively. James MacAvoy and Michael Fassbender topline FIRST CLASS, directed by Matthew Vaughn.

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS will be in theaters on June 3, 2011.

X-Clusive X-MEN: FIRST CLASS Possible Casting News

WAMG has what is some possible casting news on X-MEN: FIRST CLASS.

On Saturday night, during the “V.I.P. Meet and Greet” for the ‘Celebrate TWILIGHT Night: ECLIPSE’ here in St. Louis, Jack Houston “Royce King” of TWILIGHT: ECLIPSE told us,

“I just recently returned from England from a screen test for X-MEN: FIRST CLASS.”

Prior to the evening’s event, Houston met with our own Melissa Howland during the press junket and enthusiastically spoke of his upcoming work on Al Pacino’s WILDE SALOME and Scorsese “Boardwalk Empire” from HBO, but said nothing about an audition. Unfortunately, before we could ask him for which role he specifically auditioned for, Huston’s security team whisked him away to the next event.

With producers Bryan Singer and Lauren Schuler Donner still casting the remaining roles for X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, Huston could indeed find himself being part of another big franchise. So X-MEN fans…which big character from the upcoming film is left to cast?

As Showbiz411.com reported, Michael Fassbender (Magneto) will join James McAvoy (Professor Xavier) and Benjamin Walker (Hank “Beast” McCoy) in director Matthew Vaughn’s upcoming blockbuster about Marvel’s superhero team of X-Men in their youth. According to Deadline Hollywood, Alice Eve is now in negotiations to play Emma Frost. From 20th Century Fox, X-MEN: FIRST CLASS has a scheduled start date of August 2010 and is due to hit theaters on June 3, 2011.

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS – Bid On A Chance To Visit The Set!

MTV’s Splash Page is reporting (via CharityBuzz) of an auction where you can bid on a visit to the set of producer Bryan Singer’s X-MEN: FIRST CLASS – the beginnings of Marvel’s mutants.

Film’s Synopsis:

Before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Before they were archenemies, they were closest of friends, working together, with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known. In the process, a rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-MEN.

After making one of the most talked-about films of the 1990s, The Usual Suspects (1995), director Bryan Singer was tagged as being one of the more talented filmmakers of his generation. The surprise success of the film, as well as its submergence into the cultural zeitgeist, gave Singer the proverbial keys to the kingdom, allowing him unfettered access to some of Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters. Though he followed The Usual Suspects with the lesser appreciated Apt Pupil (1998), Singer directed what many considered to be two of the better comic book adaptations of recent memory – X-Men (2000) and X2: X-Men United (2003), confirming that his previous success was no fleeting matter. Because both films garnered considerable critical acclaim and were big hits at the box office, he was a natural fit to make Superman Returns (2006), a reboot of the once popular, but fallen franchise, which propelled Singer into the upper tier of working directors, as well as making him a popular figure among comic book and science fiction aficionados. Singer is also the founder of Bad Hat Productions.

The proceeds for this item benefit Project Angel Food. Donated by: Bryan Singer

Terms: To be scheduled at a mutually agreed upon time and date. To take place this Fall (2010) in the United Kingdom. Travel and accommodations are not included. Cannot be resold or re-auctioned.

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS – June 3, 2011 Release Date

20th Century Fox has set a release date of June 3rd, 2011 for X-MEN: FIRST CLASS. Fox’s prequel will be directed by Matthew Vaughn (KICK-ASS, STARDUST, LAYER CAKE) and will quickly begin production this summer. So far, no one has been cast in the latest chapter of the franchise based on the Marvel Comics series. Here’s the official announcement from 20th Century Fox:

BRYAN SINGER AND MATTHEW VAUGHN UNITE FOR X-MEN: FIRST CLASS

Twentieth Century Fox will release film on June 3, 2011

LOS ANGELES (May 4, 2010) __ “Kick-Ass” director Matthew Vaughn will helm X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, a new chapter in Twentieth Century Fox’s blockbuster series of films based on the Marvel Comics.

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS begins production this summer for a June 3, 2011 release. Bryan Singer, who conceived the story for FIRST CLASS and directed the original “X-Men” and its sequel “X2,” is producing along with Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg.

“I’ve been a fan of Matthew’s since LAYER CAKE,” said Singer. “He has a deft hand with multiple characters and storylines, and a great love of the X-Men universe. I feel the combination of this story and his vision will make for an exciting and original X-Men film.”

Added Twentieth Century Fox president of production, Emma Watts: “X-Men: First Class presents an exciting opportunity to further explore the history and relationships of these beloved characters. Matthew’s combination of talent, verve and vision is perfectly suited to the task.”

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, following the classic Marvel mythology, charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga. Before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Before they were archenemies, they were closest of friends, working together, with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known.
