Hathaway in the new “Alice”

It is official Anne Hathaway has been signed on to play the White Queen, a benevolent monarch who is ousted by her sister Red Queen played by Helena Bonham Carter. I just want to say that  I totally called it.  I knew that Helena was going to play the Red Queen. So I’m excited about this new film and I feel that it is going to be a great movie. Plus when you think about anymore by Tim Burton and Johnny Depp has it’s own flair to it.

Ahh, Remember ‘Beetlejuice’

Melissa:

Beetlegeuse! Beetlegeuse! Beetlegeuse!

So, I took a trip down memory lane tonight, like I often do during the week when the new Netflix mail hasn’t arrived, and decided to relive Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice. What’s better than spending the night with a bunch of freakish ghouls, a pre-kleptomaniac Winona Ryder, and Jeffrey Jones playing a normal father well before his child pornography arrest! Let’s start off October with a fun one!!!

Barbara and Adam have just gotten married (Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin). While decorating their perfect little country home, in their perfect little quite town, they run their car off the road to avoid a dog. Once they return home and notice the Handbook for the Recently Deceased on their table, as well as their lack of reflection, they come to the obvious conclusion that they are dead.

And what could be worse than being dead in your own home? Having New Yorkers invade, that’s what! The Deetze family decide to completely remodel the home after purchasing it and turn Barbara and Adams’ (non)lives upside down! The house is soon turned into some crazy version of a modern piece of art, full of wacky statues and bold colors. The only one who feels the need to respect the dead couple is Lydia, an ultra Goth teen who is fixated with depression and death. Lydia is the only person who can see Barbara and Adam, and befriends them.

Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland”

Filming has started for the new Tim Burton film “Alice in Wonderland”. It has been confirmed that Australian actress Mia Wasikowska plays the lead in the movie with Johnny Depp, who is taking on the role of the Mad Hatter.  Matt Lucas and David Walliams, stars of British television show “Little Britain”, have been cast as Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee. Also, Burton’s partner and actress Helena Bonham Carter is also set to star in the movie.   My guess is that she will be playing the Queen of Hearts but who knows. The film is due for release in the spring of 2010. [source: slashfilm.com]

Depp and ‘Dark Shadows’

Tim Burton is in the process of making another movie titled “Dark Shadows”, the ’60s daytime supernatural sudser. Johnny Depp has been offered the lead role, Barnabas Collins,  previously done by  Jonathan Frid. “Dark Shadows” a highly spooky soap contains gothic horror that includes vampires, monsters, witches, werewolves, ghosts and zombies.

Disney + Johnny Depp = Friends Forever

It sure seems like it at least.   At a press event shin dig yesterday, the Mouse House announced that Johnny Depp will be staring in three of their future tent-pole pictures.   Jack Sparrow will be back in the alluded to sequel at the end of the third film, Sparrow will be the focus of the picture; though I guarantee Barbosa and Will Turner will make appearances.   He will also star as the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton’s mo-cap 3-D adaptation of Alice in Wonderland.   On top of all of this, he is also planning on playing Tonto in a new adaptation of the Loan Ranger.   Whew, well at least he will be busy, lets hope that quality products are churned out of this in the end.   Best bet to be the best? Alice in Wonderland by Tim Burton, which will be the first of these films to get off the ground.   For all details, check here!

Review: ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ on DVD

I was able to correct a huge void in my video library this week. Thank You, Disney Home Video for releasing “The Nightmare Before Christmas Collector’s Edition” DVD. I’m a huge Tim Burton fan and was utterly amazed that I did not own Nightmare. Right next to my Corpse Bride and Sweeney Todd DVDF there was a noticeable void. (I still think the wife  loaned it out) But now everything is right in Ram Man’s universe, I own the Collector’s Edition of the Nightmare Before Christmas on DVD!

Nightmare is Tim Burton’s stop motion animated classic that was a smash hit at the theaters in October of 1993, now re-vamped and digitized on a 2 disc special edition DVD. The story, based on a poem by Tim Burton,is a twist on the classic Grinch that stole Christmas.  This has Jack Skellington, the pumpkin king of Holloween, convincing his fellow residents of Holloweentown that they need to kidnap Santa and give Christmas a ghoolish make-over! As Jack prepares for his new holiday Santa goes missing again. Jack’s nemesis, Oogie Boogie, has taken the jolly old elf and Jack’s girlfreind Sally as well. Jack realizes the error in his thinking and squares off against Oogie Boogie to rescue Sally and save Christmas! The fable features the voice talents of Catherine O’Hara,Chris Sarandon,Ken Page and a score by the great Oingo Boingo lead singer Danny Elfman! This film is a joy for the entire family. Depp in 3-D as The Mad Hatter

Over your morning cup of tea:

Tim Burton has reportedly signed Johnny Depp for his forthcoming Alice In Wonderland adaptation. The film, which will be presented in Disney Digital 3-D, will feature Depp as The Mad Hatter, according to The Sun. A source commented: “Tim has had designs on Alice In Wonderland since before he was famous. Can’t you see  Helena Bonham-Carter as The Queen of Hearts?

Tim Burton sees ‘Alice’ in Mia …

Director Tim Burton has apparently taken the next step and has announced he’s discovered his lead for his remake of ‘Alice in Wonderland’. The young Australian actress Mia Wasikowska (Rogue) has been selected to slip into Alice’s shoes and go for the journey of her life. Burton is directing a script written by  Linda Woolverton, which has some wondering whether we’ll be seeing a darker version of ‘Alice’ or just another Disney version, especially since Disney is the backing studio. The Three “Amigos” Re-Unite for Dark Shadows

Johnny Depp, Tim Burton and John August will re-united to bring us the adaptation of the TV soap “Dark Shadows” Depp will “sink his teeth” into the role of vampire Barnabus Collins. Burton is attached to direct, which must mean Helena Bonhomme Carter will soon sign on. John August will handle the writing duties. the three have worked together on both The Corpse Bride and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. This was my favorite show growing up and I know with these guys at the helm it’s sure to be fantastic!

I will have more casting news as it becomes available!
