The Tivoli Announces the Latest ‘Reel Late’ Midnight Series Line-Up

“Gimme some sugar, baby!”

Get get some sugar midnights at the Tivoli! Another awesome line-up of midnight movies including a couple of anime standards and some ‘80s cult nuggets make up the next wave of films at the Tivloi for their “Reel Late at the Tivoli” midnight program! It’s a great selection with the usual variety of standards and classics that draw the late night movie buff crowd.

BLAZING SADDLES from 1974 is the oldest of the bunch and should be great to see on the big screen again. CLUE, SPINAL TAP, and ARMY OF DARKNESS have drawn big crowds in the past. I was unaware that TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES from 1990 had a cult following, but I was surprised last year when SPICE WORLD packed ‘em in, so what do I know?!

Reel Late at the Tivoli takes place every Friday and Saturday night and We Are Movie Geeks own Tom Stockman (that’s me!) is often there with custom trivia questions about the films and always has DVDs, posters, and other cool stuff to give away. I can’t wait to write PURPLE RAIN trivia! Ticket prices are $8. We hope to see everyone late at night in the coming months.

Hitting theaters in August 2014, watch the first trailer for Paramount Pictures’ TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES starring Megan Fox.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was an American comic book published by Mirage Studios from 1984 to 2009. Originally conceived by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird as a one-shot parody, the comic’s popularity inspired a franchise, four television series, four feature films, numerous video games, and a wide range of toys and merchandise.

Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo are mutant turtles who have been trained in the art of ninjutsu by their rat sensei, Master Splinter. Emerging from their sewer lair, the reptile brothers confront the wondrous world of New York City, facing villains more dangerous, meeting a new friend April O’Neill. and pizza more delicious than anything they could have imagined.

Through battles with Shredder, the Kraang and loads of super-powerful mutants, the Turtles learn to rely on themselves and each other as they grow to become the heroes they are destined to be.

From producer Michael Bay and director Jonathan Liebesman, the movie also features Will Arnett and William Fichtner.

Photos – Megan Fox, Will Arnett On The Set Of Jonathan Liebesman’s TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES

Principle photography on TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES began this April in New York  City and one of our readers visiting the Big Apple on May 20 sent us these set photos over the weekend from the upcoming reboot.

Directed by Jonathan Liebesman (WRATH OF THE TITANS), the Times Square images include stars Megan Fox, Will Arnett and a few shots of the Heroes in a Half Shell in pre-cgi mode.

The film also features William Fichtner, Danny Woodburn as Splinter, Alan Ritchson as Raphael, Pete Ploszek as Leonardo, Jeremy Howard as Donatello, and Noel Fisher as Michelangelo.

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES is to be produced by Nickelodeon Movies and Michael Bay‘s production company Platinum Dunes, and distributed by Paramount Pictures.

Turtle Power will be unleashed into theaters June 2014.

Nickelodeon Wrangles NINJA TURTLES

Nickelodeon is shelling out some serious green (yeah, there’s two there.  Deal with it) for the TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURLES.  What is serious green, you might ask?  How about $60 million for global rights to the property.  According to The Hollywood Reporter, that is exactly what Viacom’s Nickelodeon forked over to develop not only a new feature film starring the heroes in a half shell but a CG-animated TV series.

This is Nickelodeon’s first endeavor into franchise purchasing, and it seems likely the company will be looking more and more at this type of brand marketing for shows and feature film projects.

Says Cyma Zarghami, president of Nickelodeon:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles shares a comedic sensibility with the Nickelodeon DNA, with added layers of action and fantasy that have kept this property an evergreen favorite with multiple generations of audiences.

Paramount, also under Viacom’s umbrella, would serve as distributor on the film.  Says Paramount president Adam Goodman:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a property that maintains a very passionate global fan base, is rich with opportunity for a tentpole movie and is exactly the right property for us to work together with Nickelodeon.

Both the feature film and the animated series are tentatively set for release in 2012.
