SXSW 2009 Preview: ‘The Horseman’

thehorseman

One of the movies named to the SXSW Presents Fantastic Fest @ Midnight, this movie looks to be one of the greatest revenge movies of all time, and from the looks of the trailer it just might be. Here is the synopsis:

An action-packed, multi-award winning Australian thriller, The Horseman features a range of powerhouse performances in an unflinching study of grief & retribution. Explore the dark fantasies we all dream up as Christian (Peter Marshall) grieves over the suspicious death of his teenage daughter.

As he travels through rural Australia to investigate, he picks up Alice (Caroline Marohasy), an awkward young runaway and an unlikely bond develops. But as the crime is pieced together, an ugly truth is revealed and Christian spirals down a dangerous path.

The trailer is NSFW so I put it after the jump, which we got thanks to Twitch Film.

SXSW 2009 Preview: ‘We Live In Public’

weliveinpublicjoshharris

I got a chance see ‘We Live In Public’ at Sundance and let me tell you that calling this movie a masterpiece is an understatement. Ondi Timoner takes you deep inside the life of the first internet pioneer Josh Harris.

Basically the documentary chronicles the life of Josh Harris from 1996 when he first started revolutionizing the way we do things on the web. From the first internet TV show, to the epic undertaking of “the bunker” in NYC before the turn of the millenium. This guy had so many ideas and was so far ahead of what everyone else was doing that it mostly fell on feable minds. Ondi Timoner won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance and needs to be seen. So if you are going to SXSW this year, make sure you get into this one.

SXSW 2009 Film Lineup Announced

The next BIG film festival is SXSW March 13-21st and hopefully we will be bringing you some equally as good coverage for that as well. However they did just announce the Film lineup for the 2009 festival and it is slated to be an insane festival!

One of the things I am most excited about are the movies that are jumping from Sundance to SXSW that I didn’t get to see for one reason or another. Some of those movies include ‘Grace’, ‘Sin Nombre’, ‘The Yes Men Fix the World’, ‘When You’re Strange’, and ‘Burma VJ’.

Then I will get a chance to see some of my favorites from Sundance again with screenings of ‘Moon’, ‘Adventureland’, ‘We Live In Public’, and ‘Humpday’.

Here is a complete list of films rocking SXSW this year after the jump..
