STAR TREK BEYOND director Justin Lin announced today a first-ever fan event to take place on May 20 in celebration of the series’ milestone 50th Anniversary this year and the film’s release this summer.
The one-time only special event, taking place at the historic Paramount Pictures studio lot, will include the premiere of the newest STAR TREK BEYOND trailer, an exclusive first-look of never before seen footage from the upcoming film, a Q&A with Lin and the cast and crew, special guests appearances, and other surprises. The Q&A will be streamed via Facebook Live.
Said Justin Lin, “As a lifelong fan of Trek, we wanted to do something special for the fans and we couldn’t think of a better way to do that than creating an event dedicated to them in the year that we also come together to celebrate the series’ amazing 50th year.”
STAR TREK BEYOND, the highly anticipated next installment in the globally popular Star Trek franchise, created by Gene Roddenberry and reintroduced by J.J. Abrams in 2009, returns with director Justin Lin (“The Fast and the Furious” franchise) at the helm of this epic voyage of the U.S.S. Enterprise and her intrepid crew. In BEYOND, the Enterprise crew explores the furthest reaches of uncharted space, where they encounter a mysterious new enemy who puts them and everything the Federation stands for to the test.
Opening July 22, 2016 from Paramount Pictures and Skydance, STAR TREK BEYOND is a Bad Robot, Sneaky Shark, Perfect Storm Entertainment production. Paramount Pictures, Skydance, Bad Robot and IMAX Corporation today announced that STAR TREK BEYOND, the third film in the blockbuster franchise, will be digitally re-mastered into the immersive IMAX format and released in IMAX theaters worldwide beginning July 22, 2016.
STAR TREK BEYOND is directed by Justin Lin and reunites Jon Cho, Simon Pegg, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoë Saldana, Karl Urban and Anton Yelchin.
Idris Elba, Sofia Boutella, Lydia Wilson and Joe Taslim are joining the cast.
Based upon “Star Trek” created by Gene Roddenberry, the film’s writers are Roberto Orci & John D. Payne & Patrick Mckay; and Douglas Jung & Simon Pegg. The film is produced by J.J. The STAR TREK BEYOND crew gathered today at the prominent Burj Al Arab Hotel, in one of the Emirate’s largest press conferences, ahead of its filming in Dubai.
The press conference, which was attended by more than 100 local and international media, included the film’s director and producer Justin Lin, executive producer Jeffrey Chernov, writers Douglas Jung & Simon Pegg and stars Pegg, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin and Idris Elba.
Dubai Film and TV Commission announced that STAR TREK BEYOND, the latest film in the globally renowned sci-fi franchise, will film scenes in Dubai for 13 days, starting from 1 October. They will be filming at the Sound Stages in Dubai Studio City as well as key indoor and outdoor locations, throughout the city.

During the scouting, the film crew was impressed by its diverse attractions and locations that include skyscrapers, beaches, desert and more. In an unprecedented event, the cast of the STAR TREKfilm franchise has created a unique philanthropic initiative in partnership with Omaze.
The Star Trek: To Boldly Go campaign will support the cast’s personal selection of nine global causes, which will each receive equal portions of the funds raised when fans enter for a chance to win a walk-on role in director Justin Lin’s STAR TREK BEYOND, the third film in the blockbuster franchise, released on July 8, 2016.

Director Justin Lin has revealed over on his Twitter page the first photo and title for Paramount Pictures’ and Skydance Productions’ STAR TREK BEYOND.
Skydance Productions is ramping up to begin production on STAR TREK BEYOND, the third installment in the JJ Abrams franchise.
Simon Pegg and Doug Jung are attached to co-write, while David Ellison is set to executive-produce the third installment of the STAR TREK franchise, with Justin Lin directing.
The film is slated for a July 8, 2016 release date.
