Fifth Harmony, the award-winning girl group whose top 10, platinum hit “Worth It” is currently rocketing up the charts, has recorded the new song “I’m In Love With A Monster” for Sony Pictures Animation’s HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 2, it was announced by Lia Vollack, president of Worldwide Music for Sony Pictures.  The sequel to the monster hit, which took in over $350 million worldwide, will be released in theaters on September 25.

“I’m In Love With A Monster” will be heard in the film as well as in the new trailer, which launches this week.  “I’m In Love With A Monster” is produced by Harmony Samuels and written by Harmony Samuels, Carmen Reece, Sarah Mancuso, Edgar Etienne, andEricka Coulter.

The new song will be released by Syco/Epic Records next month.

Commenting on the announcement, Vollack said, “There are few groups out there that can match the incredibly fun feel and animated vision that Genndy Tartakovsky is bringing to HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 2, and Fifth Harmony knocked it out of the park.  The song is exactly what we were hoping for.”

Ally, Normani, Dinah, Camila, and Lauren of Fifth Harmony said, “We’re incredibly excited that our song, ‘I’m In Love With A Monster,’ will be part of Hotel Transylvania 2! The movie is hilarious and so much fun!”

1271033 - THE WALK

Drac’s pack is back for an all-new monster comedy adventure in Sony Pictures Animation’s HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 2!  Everything seems to be changing for the better at Hotel Transylvania…  Dracula’s rigid monster-only hotel policy has finally relaxed, opening up its doors to human guests. But behind closed coffins, Drac is worried that his adorable half-human, half-vampire grandson, Dennis, isn’t showing signs of being a vampire. So while Mavis is busy visiting her human in-laws with Johnny – and in for a major cultural shock of her own – “Vampa” Drac enlists his friends Frank, Murray, Wayne and Griffin to put Dennis through a “monster-in-training” boot camp.  But little do they know that Drac’s grumpy and very old, old, old school dad Vlad is about to pay a family visit to the hotel.  And when Vlad finds out that his great-grandson is not a pure blood – and humans are now welcome at Hotel Transylvania – things are going to get batty!

The cast includes Adam Sandler (Dracula), Andy Samberg (Johnny), Selena Gomez (Mavis), Kevin James (Frank), Fran Drescher (Eunice), Steve Buscemi (Wayne), Molly Shannon (Wanda), David Spade (Griffin), Keegan-Michael Key (Murray) and Mel Brooks (Vlad).

Mel Brooks To Voice Dracula’s Father “Vlad” In HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 2

HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 2

Sony Pictures Animation today announced the casting of Oscar-, Tony-, Grammy- and Emmy-winning writer, director, performer, composer and producer Mel Brooks in the sequel to the 2012 worldwide hit, HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 2.

Brooks has been cast in the role of Vlad, the ancient, undead and incredibly grumpy father to Dracula (Adam Sandler). Dracula, Mavis, Jonathan and all of their monster friends are back in the brand new comedy adventure: when the old-old-old-fashioned vampire Vlad arrives at the hotel for an impromptu family get-together, Hotel Transylvania is in for a comic collision of supernatural old-school and modern day cool.

HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 2 is slated for a September 25, 2015 release, and is being directed by Genndy Tartakovsky, produced by Michelle Murdocca, executive-produced by Sandler, Allen Covert, and Ben Waisbren, and written by Robert Smigel.

Brooks – who takes on the role 40 years after helming the horror-comedy classic Young Frankenstein – said, “I’m having a wonderful time with the character Vlad. He’s been around for eons and he’s a pretty crabby guy. Basically, he reminds me of me.”

Selena Gomez and Andy Samberg also return for the sequel

Brooks isn’t the only icon who will be voicing Vlad, as Sony Pictures Releasing International is securing the talents of additional high-profile stars around the world to voice the ancient one for the non-English versions of the film.

So far, these regional Vlads include: France’s Michel Galabru, the esteemed 92-year-old actor who has appeared in more than 200 films; Japan’s Junji Inagawa, whose voice is instantly recognizable as the “go to” narrator of horror films, radio programs and DVDs; Holland’s Bram Van Der Vlugt, who, for decades, was the most requested Dutch TV/film “Sinterklaas” (Saint Nicholas); and Belgium’s Jacques Vermeire, the well-known Flemish performer with decades of memorable comic television and feature film performances.

Trailer Debuts for William H. Macy’s Touching RUDDERLESS

Rudderless_FinalPoster

Samuel Goldwyn Films has released the brand new trailer for William H. Macy’s upcoming directorial debut RUDDERLESS. Definitely one to put on your October calendar, the movie had its world-premiere at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival, where it was the closing night film.

In RUDDERLESS, Billy Crudup plays Sam, a former high-profile advertising executive whose life is torn apart by the sudden death of his son. Living off the grid on a docked sailboat, he wastes away his days while drowning his pain in alcohol. When Sam discovers a box filled with his son’s demo tapes and lyrics, his own child’s musical talent is a revelation for him, a grieving father who felt he’d been absent from his son’s life.

Communing with his deceased son’s dashed dreams, Sam learns each song and eventually musters the will to perform one at a local bar. When Quentin, a young musician in the audience, is captivated by the song, the unlikely duo forms a rock band that becomes surprisingly popular and revitalizes both of their lives.

Crudup, who gives a searing performance, leads an exemplary cast that includes Anton Yelchin as Quentin, Selena Gomez, Laurence Fishburne and Felicity Huffman.

With RUDDERLESS, William H. Macy helms a poignant and inspirational musical drama about the power of love, forgiveness and redemption. He says, “One of the major characters in the film is the music. Prepare to lose your heart to Billy Crudup. His performance is one of those cinematic gems you wait your whole life for.”

RUDDERLESS opens in theaters and available on Digital HD & On Demand October 17.

It was announced today that Billy Crudup (“Almost Famous,” “Watchmen”), Anton Yelchin (“Star Trek,” “Terminator Salvation,” “Like Crazy”), Selena Gomez (“Spring Breakers”) and Laurence Fishburne (“The Matrix” trilogy, “Contagion, “Man of Steel”) will star alongside William H. Macy (“Fargo”) and Felicity Huffman (“Desperate Housewives”) in Unified Pictures’ music drama RUDDERLESS. Macy is making his feature directorial debut, directing “Rudderless.”

The film is being produced by Keith Kjarval through his Unified Pictures production/finance banner. Brad Greiner, through his Amberdale production banner, is also producing alongside Kjarval and Unified.

Mimi Steinbauer’s Radiant Films International is handling foreign sales on the project and will introduce the feature film to buyers at the upcoming Cannes Film Market in May.

“Rudderless” is a musical drama about the power of a parent’s love. When a grieving father in a downward spiral stumbles across a box of his deceased son’s original music, he forms a band, hoping to find peace in the wake of his tragic loss.

Casey Twenter and Jeff Robison adapted the screenplay from the original story they wrote with William H. Macy. Principal photography will commence this April in Oklahoma.

Said Kjarval, “Bill Macy is a profoundly talented artist and to surround him with such a diverse variety of tremendous actors makes us extremely confident this film will deliver on every level.”

Said Steinbauer, “I am delighted to be working on William H. Macy’s directorial debut which promises to be a wonderful, life-affirming film with an A-list cast attached that will appeal to the international marketplace.”

Kjarval’s Unified Pictures has two films premiering in the upcoming Tribeca Film Festival – the thriller “A Single Shot,” directed by David M. Rosenthal, starring Sam Rockwell, William H. Macy and Jeffrey Wright, and the dark comedy “Trust Me,” directed by and starring Clark Gregg, alongside Amanda Peet, Molly Shannon, Felicity Huffman, William H. Macy, Allison Janney and Sam Rockwell.

The company’s animation division just tapped two of Hollywood’s most illustrious animators, Academy Award® nominee John Stevenson (‘Kung Fu Panda,” “Shrek”) and Cameron Hood (“Megamind,” “First Flight”) for the company’s CG-animated feature “Noah’s Ark.”

Unified Pictures has completed five films in the past 18 months alone. Among these are “The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete” (dir. George Tillman Jr., starring Jennifer Hudson, Jordin Sparks), which opened the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, “A Single Shot” (dir. David Rosenthal, starring Sam Rockwell, William H. Review: RAMONA AND BEEZUS

Ramona’s her own person…she doesn’t care about coloring inside the lines. That’s exactly what comes across loud and clear throughout 20th Century Fox’s extremely sweet RAMONA AND BEEZUS. This faithful adaptation is based on the Beverly Cleary books which took young readers along on the adventures of young Ramona Quimby (Joey King) and her big sister Beezus (Selena Gomez). For those not acqainted with this series, Ramona calls her older sister “Beezus” because she could not pronounce “Beatrice” when she was learning to talk.

Ramona’s 3rd grade life is filled with brightly colored images and accidents a-plenty while she attempts to help the family save the house when Dad (the handsome John Corbett) is laid off from his job and Mom (Bridget Moynahan) has to go back to work. Even the littlest of Ramona’s adventures manages to cause mischief, especially at the expense of Mom’s younger sis, Aunt Bea, who’s rekindling her romance with high-school sweetheart Hobart (Josh Duhamel). Ramona’s Dad finds the solution to the family’s financial problems when he’s hired for a new job in a different state, something he’s not entirely all that enthused about. It quickly becomes a tough time for the Quimby family with the thought of leaving their home, family and friends. The connection and chemisty between father and daughter during the rough patch in both their lives is precious.

Most of what Ramona does, be it good or bad, is met with smiles and pats on the head and when she’s frustrated – watch out! She vents her frustrations by verbally spewing out such bad words like “guts”. You get em Ramona! Too bad that’s not the only thing kids say these days. Anyway, Joey King reminds me of that little actress, Louanne, from 1980’s OH, GOD! BOOK II. Both young actresses are synonymous with precocious and adorable. With a twinkle in her eye, King brings unabashed zaniness to the role and I’m looking forward to seeing her in her next movie, as well as the undoubted RAMONA sequel that’s sure to follow. By the by, the film is in glorious 2D. Big plus!

RAMONA AND BEEZUS is one of the nicest movies aimed at young girls with the best message of all – just be yourself and, remember, always color outside the lines.

Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 stars for a giggly, G-rated, good time!
