Louis Leterrier’s remake of ‘Clash of the Titans’ certainly looks stylish. Judging from these new pics, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly and Empire Online, you can certainly see the craftsmanship from production designer Martin Laing (‘Terminator Salvation’) and costume designer Lindy Hemming (‘The Dark Knight’).

Empire Online rolled out a few new photos of Sam Worthington as Perseus within which he is carrying a strange sack. Judging by the shape of the sack and the stern look on Worthington’s face, the only logical answer is that what is inside the sack is a head with a hair full of snakes that can turn any creature, big or small, into stone.
The latest Empire magazine also features Worthington’s Persus on its cover.
Now, I feel, the movie geek world is holding its breath waiting for our first glimpses of Calibos and the Kraken.

We are mere hours away from the online debut of the trailer for James Cameron’s ‘Avatar.’ It’s been 12, long years, and, judging by what people saw at Comic Con, Cameron hasn’t been resting on his laurels this whole time. Up until now, we really haven’t seen much from the film, but, this week, we’ve already had one, official still released from the film. That one featured star Sam Worthington as the paraplegic war veteran, Jake Sulley, and the creepy Na’vi he fuses his consciousness with in order to survive the harsh conditions of the planet Pandora.
Today’s batch of images offers up a little bit of everything. There’s a behind-the-scenes shot, a aerial shot that look ten times cooler than anything found in ‘Attack of the Clones,’ and even a shot of Michelle Rodriguez looking to act all Vasquez on some alien ass.

And, yes, Giovanni Ribisi reminds us a bit of Carter Burke, and Stephen Lang’s Col. Quaritch looks like he’s gonna be a hard-ass just like Apone. The ‘Aliens’ similarities stop there. At least, us pointing them all out stops there.

Leading the international cast is Australian actor Sam Worthington (“Terminator Salvation,” the upcoming “Avatar”) as Perseus, the mortal son of Zeus, king of the gods. Academy Award ® nominee Liam Neeson (“Taken,” “Schindler’s List”) takes on the role of the mighty Zeus, and Academy Award ® nominee Ralph Fiennes (the “Harry Potter” films, “The English Patient”) plays the role of Hades, god of the underworld, who feeds on human fear. Rounding out the cast is Gemma Arterton (“Quantum of Solace”) as Io, Perseus’ mysterious spiritual guide throughout his journey; Mads Mikkelsen (“Casino Royale”) as Draco, who takes up his sword to join Perseus’ quest; Jason Flemyng (“The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”) as Acrisius, a one-time king turned hideous beast; and Alexa Davalos (“Defiance”) as Andromeda, a princess doomed to lose her life if Perseus does not succeed.

Pardon the graininess of the above picture of Sam Worthington acting all Perseus-y. It is apparently a magazine scan from an upcoming issue of Empire magazine someone sent into /Film. Nonetheless, it’s a pretty cool pic of Worthington looking like he is cutting the shit out of something.
I’m still not sure what to think of this remake. On one hand, the original ‘Clash of the Titans’ is a bonafide classic that still has some of the best stop-motion animation in history. It’s a film that doesn’t need to be remade in any way.
On the other hand, you have actors like Worthington, Ralph Fiennes, Liam Neeson, Mads Mikkelsen, and Gemma Arterton on board. I guess we’ll have to hold back our judgement until the first clips of the film come out, and we can gauge how much CG director Louis Leterrier is pumping into it.

The fourth film in the ‘Terminator’ franchise, it’s savior it is not. Directed by the yet to prove himself McG (Charlie’s Angels 1 & 2) with a budget that would make any relatively green filmmaker swoon at the opportunity, has managed to make a technically high-end piece of action with a particularly low-end story. ‘Terminator Salvation’ makes an effort to bring all the pieces of the time-bending story together and tie up loose ends but fails.
As the title suggests, the character of John Connor (Christian Bale) is seen by most humans as the prophecised “savior” of mankind. Connor, in this chapter, is attempting to locate and rescue his father Kyle Reese (Anton Yelchin) in order to preserve his own fate and that of human-kind. If his father dies, who is currently a teenager, then the first ‘Terminator’ movie would never happen and John Connor would have never been born.
Sam Worthington (Rogue) plays Marcus Wright, a man about to be executed on Death Row for crimes he fully admits to and demands punishment for. Wright is a man with a conscience about the wrongs he has committed and sees no redemption for himself. As the poisons of lethal injection stream into his body and his life slips away from him, we are thrown into the future year 2018 amidst the chaotic and horrifying aftermath of a human apocalypse brought on by machines.
Marcus Wright ends up being the focal point of this story. After a mission led by Connor goes terribly bad, leaving only Connor alive, Wright emerges from the smoldering wreckage unharmed and completely confused about where he is and what has happened. I’ll refrain from directly giving away any spoilers, but to be honest… even if you haven’t already figured out the truth about Marcus Wright going into the movie you’ll have it 95% figured out within the first quarter of the film. McG’s attempt to maintain the mystery of Wright’s existence and importance to the story is ruined early on and the remaining 5% is highly predictable.
‘Terminator Salvation’ gets itself a bit confused as Wright could easily be mistaken for the “savior” figure in this story over John Connor, if not for the already establishedback-story from the trilogy. Much of the plot elements in this movie are sort of casually borrowed from previous films and the final battle scene feels similar in some ways to that of ‘Terminator 2’. If not for the action in this movie, I fear I may have found myself bored due to a relative lack of originality.
With the failures aside, the one thing that ‘Terminator Salvation’ does have going for it are the special effects. Marcus Wright… (fine, technically this is a mini-spoiler) …is handled with a certain minimally intrusive but highly effective approach that works well. We get to see a handful of different terminator models pop up throughout the movie, but the best parts are the extensive Hunter/Killer Terminator scenes and the Terminator-Motorcycles, which are featured in one heck of an awesome chase scene. Personally, I found the Hydrobots to be part cheesy and part Matrix-esque, but I suppose they do fit the bill as used in the story.
As for the acting, everyone did a decent job, but no one really stood out, including Christian Bale. I can’t help but wonder how the actor/director relationship between Bale and McG went… we know how the actor/DP (director of photography) relationship went, don’t we? Helena Bonham Carter’s rather short role in the movie felt somewhat out of place simply by the fact that Carter stood out as an actress from the rest of the cast. The Tim Burton regular seemed to stick out like a sore thumb. Yelchin was surprisingly convincing as the young Kyle Reese and Sam Worthington performed on a level equal to Bale’s.
In the end, the story isn’t over. What? I’m not giving anything away! As much as this franchise jumps around in time and changes itself up with each movie, who the Hell knows where the story is supposed to actually end? Did you really think they would apply an ending making it impossible to continue the franchise? Not only is this another way in which the film fails to tie up loose ends, but it ventures to give birth to the question of when is enough… enough? Ultimately, what I took away was that the franchise is dead and needs to end and ‘Terminator Salvation’ was questionably even necessary. In my mind, the franchise is as stands…

Danny Huston has signed on to the part of Poseidon in Louis Leterrier’s retelling of ‘Clash of the Titans.’ Â Huston joins a cast that already includes Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes, Mads Mikkelson, Gemma Arterton, Jason Flemyng, and Alexa Davalos.
Lest you forget, Poseidon, in the original, 1981 film, anyway, is the keeper of the Kraken, the four arms sea creature who destroys Perseus’ home of Argus after Perseus’ father casts him out to sea.
Filming on the remake began Monday in the UK.

I’m like a little kid in a candy store today… no idea why? Then again, it may be due to the fact that I’m super-stoked about this remake of ‘Clash of the Titans’ that is in the works.
I know, odd to hear that coming from me, right? Especially since I love the Ray Harryhausen movies, such as the original 1981 version of ‘Clash of the Titans’. So, here’s even more good news about the project that further explains why I’m so excited.
Actors Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes have signed on for roles in the remake. Let me repeat, NEESON and FIENNES! The two legendary and very talented veteran thespians will play rival Gods at war. [i think i may have just peed myself. not really, but that’s how cool this is.]
Liam Neeson will rule as Zeus, King of the Gods and father to Perseus (Worthington). Ralph Fiennes, who is actually still in talks, would play Hades, ruler of the underworld and brother to Zeus. Hades plots to overthrow Zeus for power over the Gods.
The Warner Brothers/Legendary Pictures co-production is being directed Louis Leterrier, who has impressed me so far with ‘Transporter 2’ and ‘Incredible Hulk’. Sure, ‘T2’ is not the most beloved of the trilogy, but it’s still a gosh darn fun movie!
Oh yeah, and if that wasn’t enough for you to get all hot and bothered about, did I forget to mention Lawrence Kasdan (Empire Strikes Back) wrote the script? The cast also includes Gemma Arterton,

Recent James Bond villain, Mads Mikkelson, has joined the cast of the Louis Leterrier-directed remake of ‘Clash of the Titans.’Â This news comes just day after the news about a recent Bond girl, Gemma Arterton, aligning herself with the ‘Clash of the Titans’ cast.
Mikkelson will be playing Draco, a skilled fighter and leader of the Praetorian Guard that accompanies Perseus. It’s a different character name, but I’m guessing Draco will be playing the same type of role that Thallo played in the original. In case you don’t remember Thallo, it’s this guy:
Also on board the film is Alexa Davalos:
Davalos will be playing Andromeda, the captured princess whom Perseus must rescue.
