‘Stoneheart’ Trilogy being Developed for Big Screen

I’ve never really been that interested in reading all these so-called “dragon fantasy” books and there’s a lot of them out there. However, they have fans a’plenty! I should know, I’m friends with a few. With that said, ImageMovers and Disney have acquired yet another property in the “dragon fantasy” genre, developing the young-adult fantasy ‘Stoneheart Trilogy’ by Charlie Fletcher.

The books revolve around a 12-year-old London boy who enters a hidden alternate world where statues, imbued with the soullike essence of their makers, come to life. The boy’s presence upsets a balance between good and evil, and while dealing with such creatures as sphinxes and gargoyles, he teams with an orphan girl and the statue of a World War I gunner to try to set things right. — HR

Robert Zemeckis, Jack Rapke and Steve Starkey will produce the adaptation. Seems despite the near failure of the ‘Narnia’ franchise after the second film, studios are still smitten with the perceived potential of the young-adult fantasy book series. Try and try again, maybe they’ll reach the success of Jackson’s ‘Lord of the Rings’ someday? (right.)

First Look at Jim Carrey in ‘A Christmas Carol’

That there is the first look at Jim Carrey in Robert Zemeckis’ version of ‘A Christmas Carol’. Â  He’s doing it motion-capture style like ‘Beowulf’ and ‘The Polar Express’. Â  The guy can’t seem to shake that type of filmmaking.

Carrey will be playing Scrooge,  the Ghost of Christmas Past, the Ghost of Christmas Present and the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come.   Gary Oldman will be playing  iny Tim, Bob Cratchit, and Marley.   Colin Firth also has a part.

The above picture was brought to us by the guys over at The Bad and Ugly. Â  They’ve also posted a small image of the film’s promo poster. Â  Here it is all blowed up:

What do you think? Â  Do we really need another retelling of A Christmas Carol? Â  Didn’t the Muppets do it just fine the last time? Â  Will Robert Zemeckis ever shoot another live-action film again? Â  Let us know by commenting below!
