The year is 1936. An archeology professor named Indiana Jones is venturing in the jungles of South America searching for a golden statue. Unfortunately, he sets off a deadly trap but miraculously escapes. Then, Jones hears from a museum curator named Marcus Brody about a biblical artifact called The Ark of the Covenant, which can hold the key to humanly existence. Jones has to venture to vast places such as Nepal and Egypt to find this artifact. However, he will have to fight his enemy Rene Belloq and a band of Nazis in order to reach it.

If adventure has a name…it must be Indiana Jones! Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag, Solo: A Star Wars Story) will star alongside Harrison Ford, who is returning to the role of the legendary hero archaeologist, for the fifth installment of the iconic franchise.
In addition, the inimitable John Williams will return to score the film, continuing a musical journey which began 40 years ago with Raiders of the Lost Ark. Williams’ unforgettable Indy soundtracks, packed with all the epic thrills, suspense, romance and excitement that fans have come to expect from an Indiana Jones movie, have become as beloved and familiar as the adventurer-hero’s signature hat and whip.
“I’m thrilled to be starting a new adventure, collaborating with a dream team of all-time great filmmakers,” said the film’s director James Mangold (Cop Land, Girl, Interrupted, Walk the Line, The Wolverine and Logan). “Steven, Harrison, Kathy, Frank, and John are all artistic heroes of mine. When you add Phoebe, a dazzling actor, brilliant creative voice and the chemistry she will undoubtedly bring to our set, I can’t help but feel as lucky as Indiana Jones himself.”
Kathleen Kennedy, Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall and Simon Emanuel will serve as producers. Indy swings into theaters July 29, 2022.

Everyone knows that Art Hill, in front of the St. Louis Art Museum, is a great place to go sledding in the winter. But did you know it’s a great place to see movies in the summer?
Inspired by the remarkable story behind Sunken Cities: Egypt’s Lost Worlds, these four films follow the search for something vital—whether it be truth, treasure, or justice. Discover other lives, other eras, and other worlds with these Epic Quests.
The We Are Movie Geeks gang always goes to these, so if you wanna hang with the cool kids, you should go too. It’s free and they set up a big screen at the bottom of the hill. There are food trucks and beer and wine for sale. You can even go dine in the museum’s restaurant before the show if you got money to burn. If you’re a museum member, you can show your membership card and get free popcorn and ice cream (I did that last year even though my card was expired!). Of course, you can bring a cooler with your own food and drinks as well. It’s a lot of fun! Bring your dog! The movies start at 9 but get there early! Thousands of people show up, especially if the weather is nice, and close parking is scarce. There’s live pre-show music and the people-watching can be entertaining.
What’s a film series without the food?
Bring your own picnic.
Food Truck Fest, presented by Sauce Magazine, will run from 6 to 8:30 pm in the parking lot to the west of the Louis IX statue on Art Hill. Food trucks vary each week and lines will close at 8:30 pm sharp each night. Cash, credit, and debit cards accepted. An ATM will be on Art Hill Plaza.
The Museum’s Cafe will be open and serving casual fare including freshly prepared soups, sandwiches, and salads until 9 pm.
Concession stands with snacks and soda will be located at the top of Art Hill. Show your Saint Louis Art Museum membership card and get a free bag of popcorn!
Adult beverages will be available for purchase at the Panorama booth.
Bring your appetite! Before the movie starts, make sure to tap into your creative side. Each week, there will be an Art Lab for adults complete with an instructor and all the materials you need to create your own Film Series masterpiece.

RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK screens with live music accompaniment by the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra March 27-29th at Powell Hall in St. Louis (718 N Grand Blvd)
I’ve often said there’s nothing better than watching silent movies with live music, but what about watching sound movies with live music? When the movie is RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK and the score is being performed by the award-winning St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, it just becomes one of those events that can’t be missed. Justin Freer conducts John William’s beloved score performed live by the STL Symphony with Steven Spielberg’s’s adventure classic shown from the Powell Hall stage beginning at 7pm Friday March 17 and 18, and 2pm Sunday March 19th.
Check out this trailer for the event:
George Lucas and Steven Spielberg’s first ode to the serial adventure is still a densely atmospheric, loaded thrill ride. Indiana Jones is such a fascinating, larger-than-life personality that he outright demands our attention when he’s on the screen (which is about 95% of the time) and, even when we think we’ve got him figured out, still manages to surprise us. Casting Harrison Ford was absolutely crucial, though, because without his off-the-chart levels of confidence and charisma, the character wouldn’t have been able to get away with half the things he does or says. Although it trots the globe, seemingly without rest, the plot is actually very well-paced and wisely gives the cold shoulder to any hint of overwrought back-story or origin. We’re having enough fun in the present, so why get caught up in anything more complicated than “He’s a professor who moonlights as a tomb raider”? Quick-witted and funny when appropriate, exciting and unpredictable the rest of the time, it manages a near-perfect blend of realism and fantasy.
You can enjoy RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK again on the big screen when it plays with live music accompaniment by the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra beginning at 7pm March 17th and 18th, and 2pm Sunday March 19th at Powell Hall in St. Louis (718 N Grand Blvd)
RAIDERS! THE STORY OF THE GREATEST FAN FILM EVER MADE along with RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK – THE ADAPTATION screen together this Friday through Sunday (August 26th-28th) as well as the following weekend (September 2nd-4th) at Webster University’s Moore Auditorium (470 E. Lockwood, Webster Groves, MO 63119). The program begins each evening at 7:30.
After Steven Spielberg’s classic RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARKwas released 35 years ago, three 11-year-old boys from Mississippi set out on what would become a 7-year-long labor of love and tribute to their favorite film: a faithful, shot-for-shot adaptation of the action adventure film. They finished every scene…except one; the film’s explosive airplane set piece. Over two decades later, the trio reunited with the original cast members from their childhood in order to complete their masterpiece. Featuring interviews with John Rhys Davies, Eli Roth and more, “Raiders!: The Story of the Greatest Fan Film Ever Made” is just that: the story of this long-gestating project’s culmination, chronicling the friends’ dedication to their artistic vision—mixed in with some movie magic—to create a personal, epic love letter to a true modern classic.
The documentary RAIDERS! THE STORY OF THE GREATEST FAN FILM EVER MADE includes new interviews with them, along with clips from the film itself, and a few blooper reel scenes and outtakes, and original, hand-drawn storyboards (of which there were 602, as explained in a film festival Q&A session after the screening, and before showing Raiders of the Lost Ark: The Adaptation) and people like John Ryhs-Davies, who have publicly commended the film.
RAIDERS! THE STORY OF THE GREATEST FAN FILM EVER MADE runs 106 minutes and RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK – THE ADAPTATION runs 100 minutes.
RAIDERS! THE STORY OF THE GREATEST FAN FILM EVER MADE and RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK – THE ADAPTATION are both required viewing for fans of RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, film buffs, and anyone who ever dreamed or fantasized about making a film, and you’ll have the chance to catch them on the big screen when they play this weekend Friday through Sunday (and next)at Webster University.
Admission is:
$6 for the general public
$5 for seniors, Webster alumni and students from other schools
$4 for Webster University staff and faculty
Free for Webster students with proper I.D.
Advance tickets are available from the cashier before each screening or contact the Film Series office (314-246-7525) for more options. The Film Series can only accept cash or check.
