Watch Taylor Kitsch In First Trailer For Prime Video’s The Terminal List: Dark Wolf

“The only way out is right through it.” Today, Prime Video released the official teaser trailer for the highly anticipated new action-drama series, The Terminal List: Dark Wolf. Bringing global audiences back to the world of The Terminal List, the thrilling new teaser offers a look at “Ben Edwards’” (Taylor Kitsch) origin story before the events of the 2022 hit series. Dark Wolf will premiere the first three episodes on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. New episodes will follow weekly, leading up to the season finale on Wednesday, September 24.

Co-created by The New York Times bestselling author of The Terminal List, Jack Carr, and Season One creator-showrunner David DiGilio, The Terminal List: Dark Wolf is a prequel series with an origin story that follows “Ben Edwards” throughout his journey from the Navy SEALs to the clandestine side of CIA Special Operations. The series is an espionage thriller that explores the darker side of warfare and the human cost that comes with it. It also features Chris Pratt reprising his role as “James Reece.”

“Digging into Ben’s origin with Dark Wolf was a blast. This season goes even deeper—there’s more grit, more heart, and a lot more on the line. It’s raw, it’s honest, and it really lets you see the heart of who he is. I have so much respect for the military and SEAL community and loved showing their brotherhood, the things you fight to hold onto, and just letting it all play out. I think fans are going to have a great time with it,” said Taylor Kitsch, Executive Producer and star of Dark Wolf.

As with Season One of the runaway hit The Terminal List, authenticity is a core pillar of The Terminal List: Dark Wolf – with military veterans contributing as writers, actors, on-set technical advisors, and executive producers, the series is committed to portraying the mindset, brotherhood, and moral complexity of Special Operations with respect and realism.

Additional cast for the series include Tom Hopper as “Raife Hastings,” Robert Wisdom as “Jed Haverford,” Luke Hemsworth as “Jules Landry,” Dar Salim as “Mohammed Farooq,” Rona-Lee Shimon as “Eliza Perash,” Shiraz Tzarfati as “Tal Varon,” Jared Shaw as “Ernest ‘Boozer’ Vickers,” and more.

The Terminal List: Dark Wolf is executive produced by Taylor Kitsch alongside Chris Pratt through Indivisible Productions, writer and showrunner David DiGilio, author Jack Carr, Antoine Fuqua and Kat Samick through Hill District Media, former Army Ranger and writer Max Adams, and former Navy SEAL, writer, and technical advisor Jared Shaw, as well as Emmy-winning (Shōgun) pilot director Frederick E.O. Toye. The series is produced by Amazon MGM Studios, MRC and Civic Center Media.

Prime Video’s CROSS – Review

There have been several movies based on James Patterson’s popular series of novels featuring psychologist/ police detective Alex Cross. I’ve not read the books, but Morgan Freeman set the bar high for the character in 1997’s KISS THE GIRLS, and 2001’s ALONG CAME A SPIDER. Tyler Perry took a break from zany comedies to try the role in 2012’s ALEX CROSS. He did fairly well, but the movie didn’t. This debut season of “Cross” lands unfortunately closer to the latter end of the spectrum than to Freeman’s.

Next up is Aldis Hodge filling those shoes in a 10-episode streaming series on Amazon Prime. I was hopeful because I truly enjoyed his Alec Hardison role in the light caper series”Leverage”. He was so important to its entertainment value that the biggest shortcoming of the reboot – “Leverage: Redemption” – is that he’s only a recurring character, rather than one of the principals. So now Hodge dons his serious pants for this relatively dark procedural drama. He’s fine, but the series isn’t.

As is often true for streaming fare, the entire season is about one case, with sidebars of family and romantic subplots for the lead and his colleagues. The cast ranges from adequate to fine, but the pace is dreadfully slow. It’s long on dialog and short on action. The credits show a slew of producers, but only a couple of writers. Somebody negotiated a contract committing them to 10 hours, when the material only supported 5 or 6. Compressed to that amount of running time, it could have approached the dramatic tension level of Freeman’s movies. I was tempted to skip a few and pick it up at the end, but duty required the whole slog for this task of reportage. Sometimes this gig feels more like work than others.

The lighting was so lacking that it was hard to appreciate what was going on quite a bit of the time. In fairness, that could be due to my device, or production factors that will be improved before it’s released for streaming. But I can’t be accurate about how much heat is shown in the romantic moments, or blood and gore in the criminal acts. I don’t think there’s much that would be out of bounds for typical network prime time fare.

Hodge has shown his versatility. There could be a second season for “Cross”, which would be fine if they upgrade the script to a suitably tight, suspenseful package, more in line with those Freeman films. Hodge, the rest of the cast, and Patterson’s source material all deserve better.

2 out of 4 Stars.

Season one will premiere globally on November 14, 2024 on Prime Video.

Prime Video’s “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” Comic-Con Trailer Released

San Diego was transformed into Middle-earth on Friday, as Prime Video showcased the highly anticipated second season of the epic series, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay were joined on the iconic Hall H stage by over a dozen cast members for a lively and insightful conversation moderated by Emmy-nominated actress and renowned genre fan Yvette Nicole Brown (Avengers: EndgameCommunity).

The ensemble cast thrilled the 6,500 fans who packed the massive convention center hall by unveiling a brand-new exclusive trailer for the upcoming season. The action-packed trailer focuses on the long-feared reemergence of the legendary villain Sauron, heralding the return of darkness and evil to Middle-earth after many years of hard-fought peace among all of its realms. The trailer also highlighted the creation of more of the titular Rings of Power, forged with the aid of Sauron’s powers of deception and manipulation.

Fans were also excited to see a glimpse of many of the fantastical, and sometimes frightening, creatures that will appear this season, including a young Shelob, an army of Barrow-wights, Hill-troll Damrod, a Sea Worm, and even Ents!  The riveted crowd also enjoyed teases of several major battle scenes that will be pivotal to Season Two’s storylines.

The cast members who participated in the show’s Hall H panel were Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Robert Aramayo, Maxim Baldry, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Charles Edwards, Trystan Gravelle, Sam Hazeldine, Ema Horvath, Tyroe Muhafidin, Sophia Nomvete, Lloyd Owen, Megan Richards, Charlie Vickers, Benjamin Walker, and Daniel Weyman.

The second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will premiere exclusively on Prime Video on August 29, 2024.

The first season of The Rings of Power has been an unprecedented success, viewed by more than 100 million people worldwide, with more than 32 billion minutes streamed.

In Season Two of The Rings of Power, Sauron has returned. Cast out by Galadriel, without an army or ally, the rising Dark Lord must now rely on his own cunning to rebuild his strength and oversee the creation of the Rings of Power, which will allow him to bind all the peoples of Middle-earth to his sinister will. Building on Season One’s epic scope and ambition, the new season plunges even its most beloved and vulnerable characters into a rising tide of darkness, challenging each to find their place in a world that is increasingly on the brink of calamity. As friendships are strained and kingdoms begin to fracture, the forces of good—Elves and dwarves, orcs and men, wizards and Harfoots—will struggle ever more valiantly to hold on to what matters to them most of all: each other.

The second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is produced by showrunners and executive producers J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay. They are joined by executive producers Lindsey Weber, Callum Greene, Justin Doble, Jason Cahill, and Gennifer Hutchison, along with co-executive producer and director Charlotte Brändström, producers Kate Hazell and Helen Shang, and co-producers Clare Buxton, Andrew Lee, Glenise Mullins, and Matthew Penry-Davey. Additional Season Two directors include Sanaa Hamri and Louise Hooper.

ROAD HOUSE (2024) – Review

So, last weekend saw the release of a sequel, the fourth in a franchise concerning the powerful Po, and this Friday we’ll get a hybrid sequel/reboot with those proton-pack sporting phantom fighters. So, what about a full-fledged remake? Aha, you’ll get your wish this Thursday with a “re-imagining” of a cult favorite from way back in 1989, a year which I’ll always associate with the caped crusader. But he wasn’t the only action hero as the late great (Starlord called “legendary”) Patrick Swayze rocked a cool mullet as he broke bones and noses (and a few hearts) as the baddest “bouncer” of them all. Sure, there was a straight-to-video sequel in 2006, but now we get a new spin on the tale when we drop in for some brews and bruisin’ at the ole’ ROAD HOUSE.

Version 2.0 for 2024 begins at a gritty, grimy highly underground mixed martial arts venue (perhaps a former warehouse or garage). After a very nasty bout, the call goes out for another contender. The money piles up as a silent figure in a hoodie (which hides his face) strides into the “ring”. The mood changes as he reveals himself as Elwood Dalton (Jake Gyllenhaal), which causes the “champ” to balk at the challenge. Outside, after a nasty encounter with a disgruntled “investor”, Dalton is approached by Frankie (Jessica Williams) who offers him a job as “security” at her South Florida bar and grill. He dismisses her, but after a life-changing night, Dalton boards a Greyhound to Glass Key, where a friendly bookstore owner and his daughter direct him to the beachfront Road House (the actual name of the “joint”). Dalton meets with Frankie who allows him to stay at the old run-down tugboat (merely called “The Boat”) at the nearby dock. In the evening Dalton sends a biker gang to the hospital where he encounters a lovely doctor, Ellie (Daniela Melchoir). It turns out that the hooligans are employed by a shady local businessman named Ben Brandt (Billy Magnussen). He wants the Road House land and puts into motion a plan to eliminate Dalton, using a crooked local sheriff named “Big Dick” ((Joaquim de Almeida) and a human wrecking ball named Knox (Conor McGregor). Will they take down Dalton? And what secret from his past haunts his sleepless nights?

Gyllenhaal lets his chiseled physique do most of the heavy lifting (a big part of his “prep’ no doubt) as the often stoic “peacekeeper” of the beach, and “The Boat”. His mellow demeanor turns out to be part of his fighting skills along with a low-key snarky delivery (“Ooo, that must really hurt”). It helps to “draw us in” as we and his new neighbors and co-workers try to figure out his “deal” (being motivations and “backstory”). In all, Gyllenhaal makes a pretty formidable action hero with a steely charisma behind those expressive eyes (which aid in formulating an attack and defense strategy). Melchoir is a sultry romantic sparring partner to him, doing her best with the underwritten “meet cute in the ER” dialogue. The duo share a real humanity as opposed to the cartoonish villains. Magnussen is a wild-eyed sneering “frat bro” with almost no patience or “impulse control”. Ah, but he’s “Mr. Mellow” compared to the unbridled id of McGregor’s Knox who literally embodies a flesh and blood Looney Tune. His frenzy-fueled appetite is pure Tasmanian Devil, while his stomping swagger is right from Chuck Jones’ Pepe Le Pew (that triangle torso with clenched fists at the side as he marches off in pursuit of his “luuvor”). He appears to be having a grand time as the story’s true “wild card” of painful mayhem.

So the filmmaker doing the “re-imagining” is none other than Doug Liman, the first Bourne helmer and the movie MR. & MRS. SMITH. He grabs us in the opening act as we enter the violent world of Dalton and his nomadic life. Then we’re back in “brawl mode’ after a brief visit with the local booksellers, giving us a taste of his compassion for the “lil’ guys”. In a bit of foreshadowing, the teen there compares him to a pulp Western hero (SHANE perhaps), but we learn that Dalton’s “quest” is closer to the hero of THE QUIET MAN. After the first “biker showdown” the pace languidly rolls in and out like the tide outside the spacious bar. Brandt throws yet another “hissy fit” as Dalton dispatches another of his near-endless supply of beefy goons. As I mentioned earlier, Knox does provide an electric shock, but the “big showdown” devolves into a loud noisy aquatic chase with explosions and flying speedboats right out of the FAST & FURIOUS franchise. Like those flicks, one ending piles upon another, and another, and…Much of that could be forgiven if not for the squelching of the comic talents of Williams (she’s reduced to “hovering” in her office and observing the chaos below). Action fans will enjoy some of the rapid smackdowns but fans of the original will miss its sweaty campy macho antics. It’s worth making a stop at this ROAD HOUSE, though you may not make it to the “last call”.

Covering more than 40 years of her life, the filmmakers received unrestricted access to research materials, much never shown to the general public before. What is extraordinary about Kahlo’s life and art is how her images would galvanize multiple generations of admirers worldwide, doing more than solidifying her status as a modern artist of timeless import.

An intensive journey spanning two years, Gutiérrez and her formidable team of artisans, most of whom are women and proudly Latine, gathered together to craft a singular cinematic experience that could be no ordinary art history lesson. A living portrait emboldened by the magical realism befitting Kahlo’s remarkable life emerges. Yet, her voice ultimately stands supreme, a complex and powerful sound of a multitude of Fridas: fearless, seductive, defiant, vulnerable, raucous, and wonderfully alive.
