Big news for all the Pegg/Frost fans out there… Simon Pegg posted this news on his MySpace page, stating that ‘Superbad’ director Greg Mottola will be directing the new comedy called ‘Paul’ starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. The comedic British duo also wrote this new film, which will be their third collaborative effort on a feature film. Their first two feature films were ‘Shaun of the Dead’ and ‘Hot Fuzz’ … both of which were a huge success and really put the two on the map, however it seems Pegg is getting most of the media attention. As I’ve proudly stated before, I’m a huge fan of their work and am eagerly anticipating this new project, especially after reading the short, but sweet synopsis:

Pegg Trading in ‘Bastards’ for a ‘Superbad’ Director

In news that will surely dissapoint many, Simon Pegg has decided to bow out of appearing in Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Inglorious Bastards’. Tarantino is rushing ‘Bastards’ into production in October, and Pegg ran into scheduling issues.
“We really tried to make it work, but in the end, it was just not possible without severe ramifications elsewhere,” Pegg wrote on his blog. “I’m trying to remain upbeat, as Tom Selleck said, ‘Who the hell is Indiana Jones anyway?'”
The good news on the Simon Pegg front, however, is that his next film, ‘Paul’, has aquired a director. Greg Mottola, who directed last year’s ‘Superbad’, will helm the Pegg and Nick Frost written comedy. The film follows two British comic book geeks who get into an adventure across America. Unlike ‘Shaun of the Dead’ and ‘Hot Fuzz’, Frost will be the lead this time around with Pegg serving as the sidekick.
