Listen To The MORBIUS Original Motion Picture Soundtrack From Composer Jon Ekstrand, Available Now

Now available from Madison Gate Records comes MORBIUS Original Motion Picture Soundtrack – Music by Jon Ekstrand from the latest blockbuster Marvel/Sony superhero film.

The soundtrack features 23 tracks by Ekstrand, who researched sounds that bats make and pushed his orchestra to replicate those sounds using instruments throughout the score.

Also due to the vampiric nature of the infamous Marvel antihero, the Swedish composer was also inspired by classic horror scores by the likes of John Carpenter, leaning in to the character’s monstrous nature rather than creating your expected superhero score.

Directed by Ekstrand’s longtime collaborator Daniel Espinosa, Morbius follows one of the most compelling and conflicted characters in Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters with Oscar® winner Jared Leto transforming into the enigmatic antihero Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. While at first it seems to be a radical success, a darkness inside him is unleashed. Will good override evil – or will Morbius succumb to his mysterious new urges?

MORBIUS Hits Theaters On April 1st – Take A Bite Out Of These New Behind-The-Scenes Videos

Dr. Michael Morbius (Jared Leto) in Columbia Pictures’ MORBIUS.

One of the most compelling and conflicted characters in Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters comes to the big screen as Oscar® winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero Michael Morbius.

In his new film Morbius, based on the Marvel antihero, Leto brings all of these together for his performance as Dr. Michael Morbius, a brilliant doctor with a rare and fatal blood disease, determined to find the cure. Morbius’s genius finds a way not only to cure the illness but to give him unimaginable strength and powers, but at a terrible cost: an uncontrollable thirst for human blood.

“I played Dr. Michael Morbius from his most frail, to his most powerful, to his most monstrous,” Leto continues. “There’s a lot of range in there, so that was really fun to tackle. Not only does the movie have action, stunts, and fighting, but the role itself was taxing. Whenever he is fighting the affliction, he is caught in a crossroads between different parts of the character. It’s like a withdrawal process, a full body experience.”

Columbia Pictures presents in association with MARVEL, an Avi Arad / Matt Tolmach production, Morbius. Starring Jared Leto, Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, Al Madrigal, and Tyrese Gibson. Directed by Daniel Espinosa. Produced by Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, and Lucas Foster. Screen Story and Screenplay by Matt Sazama & Burk Sharpless. Based on the MARVEL Comics. Executive Producers are Louise Rosner and Emma Ludbrook. Director of Photography is Oliver Wood. Production Designer is Stefania Cella. Editor is Pietro Scalia, ACE. Costume Designer is Cindy Evans.

Music by Jon Ekstrand. MORBIUS marks his seventh project with director Daniel Espinosa, having previously composed music for his films Life, Babylonsjukan, Outside Love, Snabba Cash, and Child 44, and the Danish short film The Boxer, which was his first work as a composer. His work will be heard in the upcoming films All the Old Knives, starring Chris Pine and Thandiwe Newton, and Lasse Hallström’s Hilma, starring Lena Olin..

Morbius has been rated PG-13 by the Motion Picture Association for intense sequences of violence, some frightening images and brief strong language. The film will be released in theaters nationwide on April 1, 2022.

We Love The First Trailer For MORBIUS Starring Jared Leto

I can’t tell you how excited I am by the first trailer that dropped on Monday for MORBIUS starring Jared Leto.

Hitting theaters on July 31, 2020 it is one of my most anticipated films coming up this summer.

One of Marvel’s most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Oscar® winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero, Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder, and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. What at first appears to be a radical success soon reveals itself to be a remedy potentially worse than the disease.

The film also stars Matt Smith, Jared Harris with Tyrese Gibson. The film is helmed by Daniel Espinosa who directed LIFE.

Check it out now.

Thoughts on this first look.

We see Leto walking down an alley with the word “murderer” on the wall over an image of Spider-man. This stems from SPIDER-MAN FAR FROM HOME where J. Jonah Jameson says at the end of the film, “There you have it, folks: conclusive proof that Spider-Man was responsible for the brutal murder of Mysterio, an inter-dimensional warrior who gave his life to protect our planet, and who will no doubt go down in history as the greatest superhero of all time. But that’s not all, folks. Here’s the real blockbuster. Brace yourselves, you might wanna sit down.” Nice wink to the fans.

Additionally Michael Keaton as Adrian Toomes (The Vulture) from SPIDER-MAN Homecoming appears, from out of nowhere, at the end of the trailer!

Could we possibly and finally have a movie with the Sinister Six as was suggested years ago? Spider-Man has battled on the big screen with the likes of Doctor Octopus, Electro, Mysterio, Sandman, and Vulture. Kraven the Hunter, one of a founding member of the Sinister Six, has yet to appear in any of the films but was hinted at in the Amazing Spider-Man 2 video game.

Fantasy Cast… Who should play Morbius in ‘Spider-Man 4’?

fantasycast

Not long ago, we announced news that director Sam Raimi may want to have Morbius written as Spidey’s next nemesis in the coming forth installment in the ‘Spider-Man’ franchise. Personally, this would be really cool and would make way for Raimi to introduce a darker ‘Spider-Man’ story… you know, one that actually works, unlike ‘SM3’.

With the news that followed shortly after about Sony giving Raimi creative control on this project, the odds of this plot detail coming to life became even better. So, with this in mind, we begin asking ourselves who would best fit the role of the scientist Dr. Michael Morbius who accidentally transforms him into a vampire-like creature while attempting to develop a cure for his own terminal disease?

morbius

Dr. Morbius is a character that is both driven and menacing, but maintains a level of humanity as he attempts to find a way to cure himself and resist the urge to fall too deeply into the persona of Morbius the creature. In this way, he is a similar character to that of the Hulk.

In the maelstrom of Internet buzz talk that followed the announcement of Raimi’s Morbius idea, lots of ridiculous speculation and rumors have been popping up. Someone even suggested Robert Pattinson. Robert Pattinson? Argh! If I could get my hands on the moron that suggested his as a “perfect choice” for playing Morbius!

Lord Voldemort Ralph Fiennes has been great as Lord Voldemort in the ‘Harry Potter’ franchise. He is my numero uno pick for the role. He’s an extremely versatile actor with a frightening understanding of the darker side of characters.

Assuming I don’t get my way and Ralph Fiennes is not cast, some other potential actors that may have just the “right bite” for the role could include:

Ralph Fiennes vincentcassellmorb
Ralph Fiennes – I’d love to see him take on the role, combining the intellectual side of Dr. Morbius with his creepier vampirous traits. Vincent Cassell – This may seem like an odd choice on the surface, but he has great talent and a knack for unconventional roles
karlurbanmorb beniciodeltoromorb
Karl Urban – Probably the lesser-known and less obvious choice of the bunch, but he has a fitting combination of appearance and talent. Benicio Del Toro – He has strangely emerged as a popular choice, but it could actually work. After all, Benicio Del Toro never fails to amaze!

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
Here’s another idea to ponder… Morbius isn’t what I would consider a major villain by way of popularity and his background could be called somewhat limited by certain standards. With that said, would it be out of line to suggest switching things up a bit? Maybe make Morbius a woman, or perhaps venture beyond the constraints of his being a white male? This updated character profile could serve as a gateway to a whole new world of options (Del Toro, for example) in creating a memorable villainous performance in ‘SM4’.

What do you think? Who should play Morbius if Raimi does decide to make him the villain in ‘Spider-Man 4’? If you have any ideas for who should play her, be sure to let us know.

And, if you have any ideas for future Fantasy Casts, shoot us an email with your ideas. You can find all of our email addresses right here!

Is Raimi REALLY considering Morbius as next Spidey Villain!

Here’s a new rumor to fill your movie gossip minds… apparently, in a recent issue of Empire magazine, Sam Raimi was interviewed about ‘Spider-Man 4’ and the following comment was made by mister Raimi:

“I like it in the Marvel comics when Spider-Man fights Morbius,† said Raimi. “He’s really cool. A vampire! I like that combination of superhero plus supernatural.†

So, while this is not a guarantee of any sort, it seems Raimi has an idea of what he’d like to do for the next film if he gets his way. This, of course, means that The Lizard may (or may not) be out of the picture. While he’s an interesting character, the idea of focusing on (at least solely) The Lizard would be less than extraordinary. I like where Raimi’s mind is going. I’m ready for a darker Spider-Man story… a “well-done” darker story, not the attempt that ‘Spider-Man 3’ was. Sure, the vampire comic book thing is beginning to be a frequent source of material, but come on… this would be cool. What do you think? Is this a step in the right direction? Is it a bad idea, or just what the fans want? Let us know by leaving your comments.
