BEGINNERS Trailer Features Ewan McGregor & Christopher Plummer

From writer and director Mike Mills (“Thumbsucker”), have a look at the first trailer for BEGINNERS – a comedy/drama about how deeply funny and transformative life can be, even at its most serious moments.

Synopsis:

BEGINNERS imaginatively explores the hilarity, confusion, and surprises of love through the evolving consciousness of Oliver (Golden Globe Award nominee Ewan McGregor).

Oliver meets the irreverent and unpredictable Anna (Mélanie Laurent of “Inglourious Basterds”) only months after his father Hal (Academy Award nominee Christopher Plummer) has passed away. This new love floods Oliver with memories of his father who – following 44 years of marriage – came out of the closet at age 75 to live a full, energized, and wonderfully tumultuous gay life.

The upheavals of Hal’s new honesty, by turns funny and moving, brought father and son closer than they’d ever been able to be. Now Oliver endeavors to love Anna with all the bravery, humor, and hope that his father taught him.

From Focus Features, BEGINNERS will be released on June 3, 2011 (select cities).

Melanie Laurent’s ‘Basterd’ Poster

The men have had their say, and now the women want to make their presence known, as well.   We brought you Diane Kruger’s ‘Inglourious Basterds’ character poster on Wednesday, and, today, we bring you the character poster for Melanie Laurent’s character.

In ‘Basterds,’ Laurent plays Shosanna Dreyfus, a French-Jewis girl who feels to France and seeks revenge against the Nazis who murdered her family.   In the film, she runs a movie theater, where her revenge is acted out.

The poster comes to us from Cinematical, where they also dish out some information that I was not aware of until now.   Cloris Leachman has a role in the film, and Tarantino staple, Samuel L. Jackson, narrates the film.   Very excellent.

Quentin Tarantino and the female bastard…

Mr. Tarantino has been all over the place with his castings for ‘Inglorious Bastards’, and things are starting to come out about the female lead for the movie. Apparently he is in talks with Melanie Laurent to play Shoshana Dreyfus.

Melanie hasnt been in very many American movies, so her resume would look pretty foreign to you as she is from France. You can check her out on IMDB though… thanks to AICN for the heads up.
