‘Eastbound and Down’ renewed for a 2nd season

By far the funniest show on TV is ‘Eastbound and Down’ and it just got picked up for a 2nd season which is no surprise. Everything that Jody Hill touches turns into pure gold, and this show is no exception. It also doesnt hurt that its executive produced by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay.

For those of you that dont know about the show, Danny McBride stars as Kenny Powers who is a foul mouthed former MLB pitcher who is washed up and hast lost all his money. He is forced to movie in with his brother in their hometown Shelby County North Carolina. He takes a job as a substitute PE teacher and seems to destory anything and everything he comes into contact with, until he decides to get his crap together.

In the first season there were cameos from Will Ferrel and Craig Robinson plus a recurring role from Ben Best. You cant beat that no matter how hard to try.

Chuck the Truck Prequel to ‘Foot Fist Way’ On the Way?

Say what you will about Devin Faraci, fake, real, or otherwise.   The guy got a helluva scoop out of Jody Hill on March 24th, 2009.   While doing a one-on-one interview with Hill for ‘Observe & Report’, Faraci asked him if we would see any more of Mike McAlister, Hill’s character in ‘The Foot Fist Way.’

While Hill didn’t think a Mike McAlister movie would come to fruition, he did speculate on what we might see coming up on a different character from that film.

“I’ve thought about doing a Chuck the Truck prequel,”‘ Hill told Faraci. “Sort of like ‘Boogie Nights’ where it spans the 70s and 80s, back when Chuck Norris was [big] and they were first televising martial arts. Do it like a Behind the Music thing where he’s doing blow, where he’s a young boy who rises to fame in tournaments.”

Whether this is something Hill has seriously considered or if it was just a nugget of an idea he came up with while talking to Faraci remains to be seen.   Regardless, hopefully, somewhere on the horizon, we will see a film called ‘Chuck the Truck’, and that film will make Ben Best a major star in the comedy world.

Two Very Similar yet Equally Cool ‘Observe and Report’ Posters

“Right now, the world needs a hero.”

That is the kickass tagline found on the two kickass posters to this movie which will assuredly kick a little ass.   It proves, as has been proven before, that Seth Rogen just staring straight at you is hilarious, and the only thing funnier than that is if he’s wearing aviator sunglasses.

The two posters are equal parts funny and equal parts cool.   The fake creases and the worn-out edges give it a grindhouse feel, something I didn’t expect from the film.

Can’t wait to check this film out in SXSW.

‘Observe and Report’ comes out on April 10th.
